Can you post screenshots of your DIM Directory setup and the same, Content Library Setup, i DS, and, have you done some Content Database Management, clear and reimport metadata so it knows where it was installed?

I'm getting a new i9 system so this is a good info for me. I'm going to ask is it better to install "Instal Manager" first and redirect everything the the 2nd hard drive, and can you install DS on that 2nd drive or is that a bad idea?

My experience is that content (the big chunk) goes to the second drive while applications goes to the first, but yes, DL DIM, tell DIM where you want to install, and install. Then tell DS where you did install.

I guess DS alone doesn't take up much space, the SSD is 512 Gigs so that should be plenty, So I will put DIM on first.

    Cheers!

I have Studio running on my D: drive and my Content installed on an external USB drive (H: in my case). The DIM manifest files will probably go to the C: drive. I would leave those alone.

Using the upload by magnus_NN as an example (see attachment) where is the highlighted data stored and can it be updated/changed/edited?

I have my content collection and my DIM downloads on computer A (a home computer) stored on drive D: I am on the road alot, so I copied my content collection and my DIM downloads folders to an external USB drive which is drive R: of computer B (a laptop). I installed and ran DIM on the laptop then went about making sure everything worked (setting paths, uninstalling software that DIM thought was installed and re-installing them). After I reinstalled DAZ studio, I re-imported the metadata and everything shows up in the Smart and Content Libraries. So it seems like everything is working and I don't need to re-install all clothing, props, lights, environments, and characters (other than items like scripts, plug-ins, software, and starter essentials). Which, if correct, is a relief since I have nearly 8000 files in DIM.

The fact that DIM still reports the files, that I did not uninstall/re-install, as still being installed to D: instead of R: is of concern to me. Can say someone enlighten/help me?

That data comes from the manifest that is created at install time, in the Manifest Archive. DIM scans them and the download manifests (not the same) to see what's what. If you copied the .dsx files from the Manifest Archive, they contain the path to which everything was initially installed. Edit one to find the UserInstallPath key. You can batch edit them all to replace the old path with the new. Use the full line, replacing UserInstallPath VALUE="D:/... " with UserInstallPath VALUE="R:/... " (just changing a short string might replace something in the wrong place)

Thank you NorthOf45. I could not replace the entire line because different items have different sub-folders, although my folder structure and item placement did not change. So I used Notepad ++ feature Find in Files to bulk replace UserInstallPath VALUE="D:/RUNT/DAZ_DIM/ with UserInstallPath VALUE="R:/RUNT/DAZ_DIM/

I will still have to uninstall and re-install all scripts, plug-ins, software, and starter essentials because they create files outside of my RUNT/DAZ_DIM but that is much better than re-installing over 7500 files!

The wheel, buttered bread, and Notepad ++ great inventions of humanity  :-)

That is exactly how I did it. And you're right about replacing the whole line. I had in mind the "whole path to the library".
