Two G2 To G3 Pose Converters?

Just wondering what the difference is between Zev0 & DraagonStorm's Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose Converter and 3D Universe's Pose Converter Genesis 2 Female(s) to Genesis 3 Female(s). It seems a bit odd that we'd get two products of the exact same functionality in almost no time between each other's releases.

I was wondering exactly the same thing!

I wondered myself. The "old" one says, that some poses still needs to be adjusted, which is true. The "new" one doesn't say that, but maybe it's just not telling the full story.
I'd like to have 1 (one) tool that does the job good.

I find it difficult enough to collect all the tools and information you need to migrate assets, since DAZ doesn't think it's a good idea to help their customers with the migration when releasing updated, which always puzzled me and still does.

Zev0 made precaution about possible inaccuracy while for 3DU we can see it right on the promo images :)

I got the "old" one as well as the pose builder tool. The promo images also showed it was not 100%, but it works pretty well. I'ts easy to see why it can't be 100%. especially considering those of us who never use template characters anyway we get used to tweaks anyway.

But yeah funny there are two :)

I'll probably buy one or the other, since I refuse to buy more 10 dollar pose packs when I have so many for gen 2 female.

    I just can't afford it.

I think it is just a case of great minds think alike..

Thats why I jumped on the tool. I don't plan to heavily invest in G3F, but basically paying for the cost of a single pose pack I got a converter for the pretty large assortment I have for G2F.

I don't mind tweaking poses, I have to do that anyway :)

To clear up, both parties were creating the same product at the same time and were only aware the other existed once they were submitted. Daz didn't want to deny the other party all the hard work they put into the product just because another one existed and well, that is why there are two offerings lol.

I was really confused too — I already bought the Pose Builder Genesis 3 Bundle immediately when it came out.

Great promo images in the 3D Universe product though — I wonder what pose set that is? and what shader material?

I really hoped 3D Universe would have released a Texture Converter set for Genesis 3 Female instead, that's what we really need.
A product that could convert legacy UV textures to UDIM UV textures for G3F would be amazing.

Yeah, looks like it. We had a major storm here that knocked out power most of this week so I couldn't push the "buy" button until today and it's too late after just two days. I am on the fence about purchasing at all since I'm not ready to move fully to G3F; that extra 15% was nudging me towards "better do it now" state. Oh well.

I will ask if it can be extended. Don't know the marketing policy if it can be applied again. I shall ask.

Not that unusual. Look at "Look at My Hair" and "Garibaldi Hair Express".

I would have felt way better about V7 if something like pose converter was included in the package. mutter

So how do these work? The ReadMe for 3DU's has no instructions whatsoever. Am I supposed to load up G2 with a pose?
When clicking the script, it says browse for duf file- what duf file, and from where? I'm DUH. (as usual when it comes to technical.)

So I went into Content>People>Gen2F>Poses then 3DUniverse (trying Eclypse poses) and it said one file converted. So next question would be, where did it go?

    Check the Eclypse poses folder.

    Okay folks: using 3DU's:

After you convert the file (go to Genesis 2>Poses>pick your pose, click script button)
Select Gen3 F in Scene tab
Go in Content Library back to Gen 2 F>Poses>your original pose
The other one will be there, labeled with G3 on the end.

So you find it in the Gen 2 poses in Content Library after conversion, not the Gen 3.

I am posting conversions for comparison on my Art Studio thread, but it will be awhile. In progress and I'm going to do yardwork after dark with floodlights because 105-108 heat index here in Florida during the day, so it might take awhile.

I agree with you 100%. It seems a good investment, and I have so many great v6 poses. IF there is something fantabulous I must have, I may consider it, but I just can't keep buying poses every generation. Especially when they are quite similar. I too tend to have to adjust poses. Mostly because of shoe and outfit malfunction.

Will these G2F to G3F pose converters work on a G2F pose that was converted from V4? or Gen1?

I am having a problem with Zev0's- when I go to select the folder and files it is telling me the folders are empty and they aren't.

So I go to do another pose from that exact same product (Sensual Olympia) and the Zev0 product says the folder is empty. It did the same thing when I tried the Eclypse pose product.

I'm really struggling with what I might be doing wrong but the product did find the file once (I did one pose) then next time, nope. Says the folder (Sensual Olympia and subfolders) are EMPTY. It never did acknowledge the Eclypse poses. Said it was empty. Showing a LOT of my pose products as empty.

I can't think of anything I could be doing that would cause folders to show up as empty. Follow the path, they should be there and ARE when I don't try to access them through the Zev0 converter. Which duh, you have to do to use the converter.

So I tried to select the main file, no go. Tried selecting the subfolders, told they are empty. Arrggh.

    So what is happening?

Yes, thanks, but take a look. That's the pose builder, not converter. I quit reading after 8 pages.
If you're going to link to a support page, it should be to the product you're trying to explain, not multiple products. And certainly not buried in a thread at least 9 pages or more into it. (I gave up after 8. Who knows what page it's discussed on, if any.)

Most of those comments dealt with file designations (for pose BUILDER) - and that wouldn't be my problem. They can't be there one time and not there the next- the file can't change itself! But thanks for trying to assist Khory.

Looking at the converter with it open:

At the very top you select where you want the file to be written to. I created a main file for all the new poses to go called "my converted poses" under poses for G3F.
Then you go down to the files you want converted and add the folder (it will also do the subfolders) to be converted (left side).
After that hit convert and it is done.

You will then find whole new file folders that contain the converted files.

Did you check to make sure that the poses your trying to convert are .duf files?

I'm not having any issues using Zev0/Draagonstorrm's g2f->g3f pose converter. It's pretty straight forward.

    1. First select a destination folder for the new pose files. I made/selected a new folder named Converted within g3f poses folder.
    2. Select a folder of poses to convert, the name will show in the Folder box (shown in picture), click Select Folder.
    3. Left window populates with the source poses, right window shows the path/filename for the converted poses.
    4. Click on Convert the Poses button. You can watch the progress in the Process window.

In the picture, I've already converted 3 BWC's pose products.

For anyone that is wondering about differences between the 2 here is what I have gathered: Zev0 & DraagonStorm’s Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose Converter will do single file OR batch conversions (I did my entire G2F Poses folder at one go) and it lets you pick a location for the converted files. 3D Universe’s Pose Converter Genesis 2 Female(s) to Genesis 3 Female(s) appears to do more than one file at a time, but doesn't explicitly mention batch conversion and places the converted file in the same folder as the original with a new name.

Some Speculation: Zev0 has indicated that the Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose Converter will be updated to support Genesis 2/3 Male when G3M is released. Going by the name, Pose Converter Genesis 2 Female(s) to Genesis 3 Female(s) may well be for the females only.

Full Disclosure: You can take this comparison with a grain of salt if you want because I based the features of 3Du's script on their product page. I already own the Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose Converter so, because I don't need 2 such similar products, I cannot directly compare the products. 3DU's product page does not have a shot of the actual script interface or a very extensive description so It's hard to be certain without that direct comparison.

I'm happy with the purchase I made but I won't presume to tell you what you should buy.

Yes to all. Had done the same thing, and it worked. Then for the next pose (same product, aka the Olympia set) it said the folders were empty. I don't think one pose would be duf and the rest not.

Edit: attaching screenshots I had made. NOTE THEY ARE DUFS AND NOT SHOWING UP!

See screenshots attached to previous posts. The folders that Zev0's converter says are empty are not, and they are dufs. Each time I use the converter, the next time it will say that exact same folder is now empty. Did it with the eclypse folder too.
