I really like V7, but I must admit, some of the body morphs feels extremely rushed, like ported over from G2F and then send straight out of the door.

A lot of the body morphs look better on G2F, seriously

I am getting really frustrated trying to make a genuine full smile, I cannot no matter what, either it looks terrible or just plain fake forced smile.

G2F was easy to make a nice smile that looked sincere, genuine and realistic, V7, I cannot seem to do that.

The happy expression changes the whole face into what looks like a completely different person, and I do not like the dimples either, should make the dimples and option not forced!

I totally miss "Smile Full Face" and "Smile Open Full Face" from G2F, and the Happy expression from G2F oh, and the Flirt expressions were very nice, by the way, Victoria 5 had the sweetest pucker in the whole universe!

I am sure V7 is technically more robust, but I really, really miss some of the GF2 expressions...

I would like to have them in addition to the new ones, if you reuse the face and body morphs, why could we not get the old expressions too?

Maybe I am just terrible and bad, I do not know...

I am really happy with everything else, though :)

Man I have had the opposite experience, I find it so much easier to get a natural smile on v7 especially on morphed figures. (I do miss the full face smile though it was an excellent base and time saver). But if you setup your smile and then dial in the cheek and eye flex that's pretty much what the full face smile was.

The dimples are optional they're under cheeks in posing and can be dialed out.

Don't worry you've only been messing with her a couple of days, the way the face is setup is very different (mostly bones rather than morphs) It's very versatile, but is definitely going to take some getting used to.

Is it just me, or are the G3F Fitness and Tone Body Morphs lacking in muscle detail compared to the equivalent G2F morphs?

This sounds like a good way to introduce yourself to the DAZ 12-step program. smile

Daz 12-step program? Lol - where's that? And how does it work? You get shipped off to Renderosity for 6 months?

Oh, I'm sorry -- I'm the wrong person to ask about the 12-step program for DAZaholics. I'm afraid I'm still in denial about my problem, and will gladly rationalize my decisions to purchase endless streams of DAZ content. I still think, "What's the harm in just ONE? Surely if I buy just ONE PC item, I'll be fine..." I'm afraid I just haven't hit rock-bottom yet.

That will come when I sell my children for a new GPU.

I have a question and hopefully someone in here will know - Is there a way to load G3F without textures and settings already applied? I click to load her and the only option is a fully textured version with no material options to set her to grey or white. I'm used to the original genesis which loaded grey with no textures, no settings, nothing, and I prefer that "clean slate" load... or at least a setting that changes it to a clean slate. Is there a way to do this with this new one?

If you are selecting it from smart content, just right click on the icon and "browse to content directory", double click on that character preset, then save it back as a character preset to that location with the same name and uncheck the box with "materials".. that should save back a copy of V7 without textures. (you could make a copy of it before you overwrite it)

I've got to thank you too Male-M3dia for this info,I sometimes find it hard to get rid of materials, this worked great!!

I did a quick render with G3F. I used the clothes that came with her, and the V5 Elite Ponytail. When the autofit dialog came up, I selected G2F as the original figure (since there's no Genesis clone in the list yet), and the hair fit perfectly. I'll play around tomorrow with autofitting other clothes and hair, but I need to get to bed soon, so enough playing for today.

Glad that worked out for you!

if you run into issues from G1 to G3 just fit it to G2 first, then fit to G3 and you should be reasonably ok. Might need to tweak if things break up a bit though.

We use Dual Quaternion Skinning in both Max and Maya. Is this same as G3F/V7's rigging?

Hair is a big bummer.... cause I use LAMH but the renderman doesn't work in Iray.... that's the biggest drawback of Iray, really... that it breaks one of the best parts of Daz. :( Granted, I can export hair as fibermesh but that is VERY system heavy and ties up my computer for a long time. Not to mention that the UV map roulette game means hair styles have to be made for every freaking UV map..... not everything is a step forward :(

LAMH support for Iray is almost done.

    Kendall

Thanks, Kendall, this is really excellent news! I can't wait to see what Alessandro's cute little furry animals look like in Iray.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

*and suddenly all is right with the world* OMG OMG OMG LAMH for iray, I can't wait!!!! i use LAMH all the time so this makes me REALLY HAPPY!!!!!

Uh oh i might be asking you every day now, "is it ready yeeeeeeeeeeeet?" :D

in the meantime i'll keep using fibermesh, its not so bad :)

I was skeptical for G3F, mainly because of the lack of poser support. I tried the free mesh in DS and I'm impressed. The posing of the hands and feet is so natural and the face is a dream to work with. The new jaw movement and the elasticity of the face is spectacular.
I'll wait for poser support before I spend any money on her but overall, really impressed! Here's to hoping for a quick solution.
Hair, clothes, shoes and even pose from G2F with no adjustement. The long dress needed to be imported as is.

Very nice render, Seeker.... Just had to comment :)

I did something a bit more long winded. I went into the surfaces tab and put none for all the textures and then I saved that as a materials preset. Saves loading a figure every time.

    CHEERS!

I don't know. the pose dials didn't do enough without causing odd distortions, and the bones in the scene tab was not much help.
    (EDIT)
I may be looking in the wrong place, I've only had G3F for less then a day. I've just started looking deeper then just making screen-caps of the pose controls.

There is also a "Tongue Controls for Genesis 3 Female Characters" in one shop already but I don't want to post the link because it is an adult shop ;)
But if you are interested I could send the link via pm ;)

Click on the little cog icon on your tongue in-out slider to get a menu and pick Parameter Settings.. In parameter settings window deactivate/uncheck Use Limits option and click Accept. After that you can push the slider past -100 limit to get the tongue more out.

    I just saw V7 / Genesis 3 is out?
Well I'm holding back on this one. I'm anyway mostly using generation 4 because most of my content fits these figures. Genesis was a cool idea, Genesis 2 was already not necessary IMHO (although I still purchased some content for it). But is Genesis 3 really sooo much better than 1 or 2 that we already need a new figure again?
The sad thing is once the new figures come out you don't find a lot of new content for older figures anymore. So if someone finally makes content you have been waiting for for years it no longer fits the figures you have... so you buy new figures, now you are out of poses for them, and all your other content doesn't fit them without a lot of monkeying around with it.

Does anyone else think the new generations are coming out too fast? Or is that just me?
Anyway, so that I don't just complain, my suggestion (wish) is that more content be created for existing figures, rather than coming out with more and more figures all lacking anything except the most basic clothing etc.

    It is just you.
The PAs are dancing in the street in their Fantasy Wraps.
The rich people in the hills are throwing barrels of money in the general direction of Utah.
High end users are even higher.
Tears of joy wash away any common, petty concerns.
It is the perfect storm of a three dimensional freaking rapture.

Yup, just you. V4 was dirty old Poser fall-of zones bone system. Genesis was "let's try to make something better here", G2 was "ah, now we know, where we are going" and G3 is let's do something realy cool here".

The question is, how long is a decent period before a new generation should be relased? 5 years, ten years?
Don't get me wrong, the only thing of G3F I own is the Starter Essentials right now.
But I think it's a valid question... if the new generation had come out six months later, in 2016, would that be a proper "distance"? Or still cause the same uproar?

The point here is that Genesis 3 Female is free, and it comes with some free Hair, Clothing and Poses, so there is nothing lost in trying it.

It also come with a clone for the AutoFit tool, and you can transfer G2F clothing to G3F out of the box, nothing to buy. You can still, of course, continue to use G2F, or even Genesis and V4, they haven't gone away either. I am sure that there will be extra clones for sale in the store soon, to transfer Genesis (original) clothing etc. to G3F, but you can also make your own.

Nothing has been taken away, only added, and you can use the new figure with your already purchased G2F clothing if necessary.

Figure 24 months per generation, just like the Poser development cycle.

Have fun on the upgrade treadmill...........

Upgrade treadmill is easily avoidable :)
