Saved scenes and scene subsets not showing in Smart content or Content Library

Daz usually puts recently saved scenes in the unassigned category of smart content.

Last week I noticed that scenes and scene subsets were not longer showing anywhere in Smart content or content library. It may have coincided with my upgrade to 4.8.

Under services, Daz content manager is started. I have reset and reloaded metadata, including user data. No joy. It still refuses to put freshly saved scenes or subsets into Smart content.

Thanks for any help.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and make sure the location you're saving your scenes to is listed as a DAZ Studio Format content folder.

Yes, the save folder has been the same all along. I have a number of fantasy characters that all saved as scene_subsets in c:/users/.../My Documents/Daz3D/Studio/My library/Figures/Warriors. Most of these figures show in Smart Content. The more recent additions to this folder do not show in Smart Content. They do show in content library but interestingly do not show in the DB content editor list. Notice in the image that the character G2 Blade Rune with Silver Mail shows in content library and can be loaded from there. It does not show in the content db editor list. Nor does it have the "set" flag on the icon. It was saved as a scene_subset.

Scenes are also not showing in Smart content. Usually they show up in unassigned.

This is only happening with files saved after 11 Jun 2015 on my system. Could there be an interaction with 4.8?

So they do show in DAZ Studio Formats, but not in any of the database-driven views (Products, Categories, Smart Content)? That suggests database corruption. Are you still using the Valentina CMS, or have you installed PostgreSQL CMS? If you "Scan Known Directories For Files" do they show up in Categories > Default > Unassigned?

I thought for sure I was on Postgre. Thanks for the reminder. When I checked carefully, it was clear that I was on Valentina. Just changed over. That will likely fix the problem. No wonder I had been having gremlins.

  • I'm having a similar issue.  Just updraded to 4.9 and all custom categories appear to be in tact.  I've tried saving a file then adding a new purchased figure and scanning known directories.  Where they should be showing up in unassigned, I get nothing.  I look in C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D and see the postgresql CMS and I don't see anything that says Valentina.  Any thoughts?

Unassigned is an old category name. Saved Files/<Type> is the category path used by newer builds.

Files discovered during a scan are now placed in a Scan Results category.

  • Not sure I understand clearly. Could you tell me more about your problem. For instance what purchased figure and which vendor? How did you install the figure? When you say saved a file, do you mean you saved it inside DAZ Studio or do you mean you saved it onto your disk in one of the Daz directories?

  • @Chohole. Wow, just learned something. That really helps me. Thanks!

Keeping all the content organized is a challenge. Lots of cool stuff that I have acquired over the years is not lost, but might as well be. It is so hard to keep track of it all.
