Interactive tutorial issues

edited December 1969 in New Users

So, I've been trying to work with the interactive tutorials, but when I get to the "posing" section, and I am supposed to click on the empty area of whichever props tab I have just added, nothing happens. I can't get any farther in the tutorial--I've tried three. I'm sure that this is stuff I can figure out on my own, but I'm afraid it means some sort of underlying software issue...

Can you please post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Can you give an example of one of the tutorials that doesn't work for you, and what exactly happens?

Make sure you are using the right Workspace layout - Window>Workspace>Select layout.

The Insane Asylum one... I put the room in, no problem. It has me add the male character, no problem, but it doesn't show up. Then there is, as jason mentions, an area on the left of Daz and a yellow arrow and sign that says 'Click'. I click all over, inside the square, outside the square, along the edge, etc. No change, no progress.

Screenshot attached. Updated screen shot added.

This one shows the entire area of DAZ Studio.

Please post a full-size screen shot rather than a shrunken one - that makes it harder to see what is happening.

Could you show the stage where you add the figure, since that appears to be the problem stage - the blank screen for the preset is a consequence.

Dagger Dancer. Everything works fine until I get to "posing". When I click in the outlined area as directed, the previous selection (the dagger) is un-selected, but the tutorial does not advance.

You don't appear to have the correct files installed. You don't appear to have a Poses folder, or the pose that goes with it installed (see below) My Smart Content is on the Right Hand side, but that doesn't matter..

You should try reinstalling the content for the Dagger Dreams tutorial.

Both the Day at the Beach and the Insane Asylum tutorial stop at 'pose preset' selection.

Looking on the left side of Daz Studio 4.7, I see Presets, but no poses under it. Nor do I see Poses in the left area.

How do I uninstall them and reinstall ? I looked in Download manager, and didn't see them there.

    Thanks.

The poses are part of the default content...Genesis Starter Essentials, G2F Starter Essentials and G2M Starter Essentials. If they aren't showing up, then it's likely you don't have all those content packs installed or possibly mapped correctly.

Actually, the Pose content is part of the 'Day at the Beach Bundle' which you should also have installed. The product page is here, and if you haven't got it already, buy it now, it's free : http://www.daz3d.com/day-at-the-beach-bundle

After it is installed (and before you do the interactive lesson) check in the Content Library pane (NOT Smart Content) and make sure that it is there in DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > DAZ Studio Tutorials > Day at the Beach. The Pose itself is called 'Day at the Beach - Pose.DUF'.

Here is what is contained in the Day at the Beach Bundle:

I got the free one. Things have been rather busy here at the house, so I probably wont have time to check on this until Saturday.

    Thanks for the help.

edit: I used the DAZ Install manager to install them.

You shouldn't have to do anything to get them to run, as long as they are installed in the correct place, and you have all the content for them installed correctly as well.

Can you give an example of a problem you are having?

Here is an image of my Content Library pane (NOT Smart Content), yours should look the same for the Inside the Asylum one at least.

Can you please post a screenshot of your Content Library showing the same view as mine, so that I can see if you have everything installed?

You will need to explain exactly what problem you are having. At exactly what point are you having trouble with the 'Inside the Asylum' interactive lesson. Where does the first problem occur?

The interactive lessons use the Smart Content pane, can you check to see that your Smart Content is displaying as expected? For example, the pose used in the Asylum one can be found in Default > Poses > By Function. Can you also check Default > Figures > People > Male, and that should lead you to the Genesis 2 Base Male figure.

Another thing to check before we go much further, is that all of your content is listed inside DAZ Studio in the correct way. Please go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and post a screenshot of BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats, so that we can see that the folders are listed correctly.

I used the DAZ Install Manager to install everything I have downloaded. The tutorial gets to a point, screenshots posted earlier, where it stops.

    Here is the info again.

The right hand side is the 'Content Library' and it is not used in the interactive tutorials.

The one on the left is 'Smart Content' and that is what is used. Your Smart Content pane does not look correct to me, you do not seem to have a 'Default' category, and you should have (under the word 'All') Default > Poses > Day at the Beach - Pose.DUF

It doesn't matter whether you can see the items in the Content Library for this tutorial, it uses Smart Content, and yours looks like it is messed up.

You need to go to the Content Library pane, use the drop-down menu, then 'Content DB Maintenance' and use the 'Re-import Metadata' option, to see if that sorts it out.

You should have a category like I show in my screenshot

You have things in places I don't have them.

I had 'Actors, Wardrobes, and Props' highlighted for that screenshot. If I highlight 'Poses & Animate' I see the Poses by function, by Region, and Other.

You will need to try what I said in my last post, re-import metadata.

The image below shows what I have when using the same Layout as you, and I still have a 'Default' category.

I don't have those tabs on the top of either side. 'Smart Content' is on the side of the left panel.

I look at Contrnt Library, which is on the side of the right panel, and I see on top of that a stack of disks, typically used for databases.

I click on that and see File and Database.

    No mention of 'Re-import Metadata'.

    I have Daz Studio 4.7

Click on the part shown in the image below. Then select 'Content DB Maintenance' From that menu select 'Reset Database' and after that, do the same again, only this time select 'Re-Import Metadata'. That should sort it all out for you
