More Iray renders...
Looks good, but, what does the same scene look like rendered in 3Delight? I'm just trying to see if there is any reason why I should try it over Luxus, so far I'm not seeing much, particularly as I know Luxus will make use of my GPU, which was the main reason I bought it.
By the way, I was off air yesterday as I realised that my laptop had Windows 8 and was tied to my dead hotmail account. I tried to switch to the new user account, but, it was just too much hassle, so, I switched back to Windows 7 and it took me all day yesterday to sort it all out. The upside is that I'm free of Windows 8, hallelujah! I should NEVER have got it. Windows 10 will have a LOT to prove before I let it anywhere near either of my machines!
CHEERS!
Good for you, Rogerbee. I only use Windows 7 Pro on my rendering computer.
Actually I have read about how easy it is to create HDR/EXR files in Bryce in the Mustakettu PDF,
you provided a link to me earlier, so I have just given these files a try as a texture to finite dome in Iray.
I know, that it is possible to use HDR/EXR files in Uber Environment in 3Delight, as well,
but could not find a way to open them in it, so far.
I am still experimenting, but below is 3Delight render...
... and two of Iray ones...
To me the 3Delight ones look better. Though I would change the shader on the suit to something less shiny.
CHEERS!
Yes, I know that 3Delight will look good, but I want to learn also, how to use Iray, as well.
...I actually prefer the first Iray one, better reflections and nice shadows.
Just mo junk LOL
Dreamlight is doing tutorials that might be worth a look. What is the landscape you've used?
CHEERS!
These are looking better, the previous crop were always far too dull.
CHEERS!
The landscape is from http://www.daz3d.com/planet-x-1
The Iray weekend is over, so I am back to 3Delight rendering.
I thought, that I will give http://www.daz3d.com/greta-the-old-hag-for-genesis-2-female
a treatment with http://www.daz3d.com/macro-skin-for-genesis-and-genesis-2-female-s
Light setup from http://www.daz3d.com/beautiful-bends-for-genesis-2-female-s
with reduced MainDiffuseLight intensity to 75%
Rendering Time: 2 hours 7 minutes 46 seconds
The landscape is from http://www.daz3d.com/planet-x-1
That's pretty cool, I need somewhere for my T-Rex to roam.
CHEERS!
Too much gloss on the face, she looks like a waxwork.
CHEERS!
Now I know, that I need to reduce Specular Strength and/or Glossiness in the surface settings.
I was naively thought, that the Macro Skin presets should work right out of the box,
but it appeared, that I have expected too much from the product.
With whatever promo lights they used, maybe they do look good out of the box. Mind you, the beauty of stuff like this is you learn how to make it work best for you.
CHEERS!
After tweaking Macro Skin settings, I got some new 3Delight renders
Items used in the scene:

Light setup from http://www.daz3d.com/beautiful-bends-for-genesis-2-female-s
with reduced MainDiffuseLight intensity to 75%
Something is still missing, try a lighter diffuse colour and maybe a stronger bump.
CHEERS!
I have redone my Ashley 3Delight render...
Now we're talking, that looks brilliant!
I downloaded Sculptris today, a free version of ZBrush, I can't wait to play with it.
CHEERS!
Thanks, Rogerbee.
I am also downloaded Sculptris and will try to follow ghosty12 tutorial
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/55466/
It was that tutorial where I found it. I didn't know it existed till then.
CHEERS!
Hi,
One of my latest Iray renders, looking for some form of realism. It was a work in progress when I posted an earlier render of him in the Iray render forum, and it's now finished with a couple of props and a slightly different camera viewpoint.
:-)
Ok, it's better than previous ones, but, there's no detail in the skin at all. Whatever bump maps were originally there aren't. I don't know enough about Iray to put back what's missing, but I'm sure someone will.
CHEERS!
Playing with http://www.daz3d.com/soldiers-of-magic-serpio
in the latest Daz Studio Beta.
Those are really nice, light effects.
Below is an example 3Delight render.
Very nice!
Certainly goes a long way to prove that 3Delight still has what it takes.
CHEERS!
Thanks, Rogerbee. Having so many different light effects proves versatility of 3Delight renders.
In case anyone is wondering why there haven't been many of my renders in here, I'm on hold till I can put my new PC case together. I wasn't happy with the CPU temperatures I was getting while rendering, so I bought a new PC case into which I will mount a load of fans. I should hopefully be done by next weekend, so, I will definitely be testing out my new case and fans then. I am also waiting for Mustakettu to release his new shader which promises to be a real show stopper and could really be a boon for 3Delight users, which I still plan to be even when 4.8 launches.
I'm by no means done with DS yet, watch this space......
CHEERS!
Time to wake this thread up! I dont get the iray vehicle results but still happy with lux results. My 1st time using G2F . Kyoto SSS also darkens skin in lux
