Diffeo - Can I temporarily turn off shape keys/morphs?

jeff_someonejeff_someone Posts: 254
February 2023 in Blender Discussion

Diffeo is the most amazing tool ever... been using happily for years.  One thing, the more morphs I load (either Standard or custom) it seems that posing the figure is less and less responsive.  I believe this makes sense as the system needs to compute the outcome of these shapekeys/morphs as I pose the figure.  I was wondering if there is a way to get Diffeo and/or Blender to toggle on/off the processing the shapekeys/morphs?  i.e., I would turn them off while composing the scene and doing general posing, then would turn them back on for renders.  In doing so, my hope is that posing the figures is more responsive/smooth while I'm working on a scene.   Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

In the morphs tab at the bottom where all your morph sliders are. At the top of that section is "Disable Drivers" This stops the drivers from driving the shape keys, or "morphs" till you turn it on with "Enable Divers". If you haven't already it also helps to go through all the Subdivision Surface modifiers labeled as "SubSurf" and set the viewport to zero. This also slows down mesh calculation during posing, but in a render, the subdivision exists.

    **Edit**
Also, don't forget about the Mannequin function in Diffeo.

As for subdivision there's the simplify option in blender, no need to go through all the modifiers.

In the finishing panel you can also finalize meshes and armatures. This removes the "edit" features and only keeps the "contol" features to animate. This means for example you can't add more morphs after finalize. To be done as a last step when the figure is complete. Better save a backup of course.

Also asked for better "disable drivers".
