Looking for a thurible (incense censer)
in The Commons
I've been searching around and I can't find a thurible anywhere. Does anyone know where I might find such a prop?

I am pretty sure a few DM sets here or Renderosity may have some
I had to Google the term but have certainly loaded incense burners like that from my library
searching the massive data and knowing what to search for may take some time but I will load up Voidtools Everything and get back to you

are likely more with other names
There's one in the "Angeloi Accessories" - https://www.daz3d.com/angeloi-the-accessories
I own that too, I probably have a church full of them but finding them is fun
yeah.. its not a perfect model, but it does work... (and yes, I have acted as a thurifer in days of yore)..
Thank you both so much!

I couldn't find any no matter how I searched so this is such a relief, I thought I was going to have to try to fake it and I always hate those results.
I never knew that was what they were called... I'm usually just concerned with the holy water sprinkler (aspergillum?)... why does that stuff burn so badly?
we don't have such exciting things in Australian Lutheran churches, the one I used to go to was very plain and functional with just a few banners
heh - I can remember after one service, one of the deacoms joked - "hey baby, I dig your gait, but your purse is on fire"
McGyver... getting the incense to burn properly depends on the quality of the incense (we used the "Three Kings" brand) and making sure the charcoal puks in the thurible are really well lit, thatand don't overload the incense when putting it in. A good constant gentle swinging acts like blowing on a fire.. Gte it right and it worksm get it wrongm and it embarassingly goes out...
"I dig your gait" might be the strangest pickup line I've ever heard.
yeah.. but it was the '60's..... :)
What do they call those poles with the metal ball head knocker at the end that they used on us kids? Is there a web site with something like a "Map Legend" for each the various denominations that says what each instrument, building prop, clothing article, and so on is called? it's quite a bit of variety there.
I was talking about the holy water... how it burns when it gets on your skin... I'm assuming everyone who's been sprinkled with it has felt that...?
I used to think the incense was to cover the smell of burning flesh from the holy water contact...
Getting incense to burn is no problem that a little petrol or gunpowder won't fix... and stuffing the chamber full and swinging it over your head like helicopter blades insures a constant intense concentration of moving air that will create the proper blast furnace environment that wards off evil and the nosey old ladies that stand too close to a procession...
But the holy water, and the lightning that occasionally strikes you when you try to go into a church is a big problem in my opinion.
I'm surprised nobody else mentioned that...
The nuns at my school used to call that a "Mace" or the "Morning Star"... ours had spikes... a very persuasive tool in my opinion.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I often wonder myself!
AH.. gotta be the exorcized salt that gets put in it.. (not kidding...)
Ah, thanks, yes, mace as a name for that makes sense. Ours was quite bumpy, not spikey. LOL.
