I also like the Commons and appreciate all the views people share there, but ... the rate that responses show up can be overwhelming.

Heh. Compared to other forums I've posted on in the past, the volume of posts here is a bit low for my tastes.

About the only forums I don't at least occasionally pop in on are NFTs and the forums for software I don't use.

I still find it a crying shame that it was put on Daz's back burner, as it's one of the most unique programs that I have come across with this hobby!

If only they had better figure support and an updated renderer/shaders it would rival even daz studio… wait, I think that's why they left it behind.

     takezo_3001,

I haven't been around long enough to track what software has been orphaned, but from the reactions I've seen regarding Hexagon, I suspect it falls into that category. In any case, I forget to mention that I do visit the Hexagon Discussion forum too, apart from the Commons, Art Studio and Blender ones. Like I said, I haven't been around long, so it amazes me how a left behind modeling software like Hexagon can actually produce pretty good results.

A special shout out goes to Nova who continues to cool post archiviz scenes. See Please Do Not Forget Hexagon and the Hex Gallery in general too.

    Cheers!

@ csaa: Yeah, I would give hexagon a go if I didn't suck horribly at modelling, as I severely lack the patience for it, it's why I respect modellers so much as they're literally building their characters piece by piece which is much more exact than my skill with sculpting, maybe I should give them a go as well, I just may learn something!

@ Gordig: Thank [goodness] NFTs are slowly on its way out! At least in the market that is, I rarely visit the software subforums save for DS!

Yep, I swoop in on the Commons.  I try to be a good boy and follow the TOS, so I'm staying out of any thread that could cause me to speak my mind.  I stay mostly in the miscellaneous quiet threads so that I'm not tempted to spew any unfavorable truths.  Can't get into too much trouble with weather reports, memories, and jocularities.  And I come specifically to see the latest fevered explosion from the mind of McLean.devil

Blender, because blender. Also blender. I pop into commons once in a while.

@ LeatherGryphon: Yeah, I'm pretty much the poster boy for not reigning myself in when I should, but I'm getting somewhat better, I haven't had any comments nixed for quite a bit which is good! xD

Me too. I don't care what forum it is in, if it is a new thread about something I am interested in, I will look at it. Who has time for all those mouse clicks? And what if you miss something?

    Add 1 to that.

I start my "Daz day" by opening the first 3 or 4 pages (that's about the most that changes in a normal day) then going forward from page 4 to page 1 looking for threads I've been reading or new threads that sound like they might be interesting. When I get to the top of page 1, I do a refresh to see what has appeared while I've been reading, then I'm done.

1st thing is I go is check my emails for the DAZ 3D sales promos. Since the price hikes I spend less time actually looking at the individual products though because I can't afford them and don't need them, in equal parts, so that takes less time. Then, if there is repair work in the house or yard that I'm not particularly fond of undertaking (ahem, which is all of it truthfully) I will mess around the DAZ forums, FB, and LI alot as a means of avoidance. As I'm getting closer to acceptable levels of repairs I'll spend less time in the forums. Backwards for sure. I mean I'll always be making up something I can improve around the house but it will eventually come to the point that I'm nitpicking and my times in the forums according reduced. Genesis 9 has got me more interested for the release of V9 & M9 but that's done now. Now I wait for the rest G9 toons, like The Girl 9 & Toon Dwayne/The Guy 9, Sakura 9, Edie 9, Ollie 9, and so on. Technically though I've seen what G9 offers so that's done.

I read the Commons, Freebies, DAZ Studio & Art Studio but those are the forums that other users post their experience and problems with DAZ Studio/DAZ 3D models or in the case of Freebies, some good freebies. Most of the time I can't use their methods as I don't postwork or composite with AI images. I do try some shader material suggestions like from melissaGT or the Randomizer or Ultra Environment scripts I read about in the forums. I check into the more technical forums once in a blue moon but as I'm not doing anything technically complex enough yet to warrent keeping up with those forums, I don't check in often.

There is also a TamperMonkey script I use that simply hides the previously viewed threads, so I simply go through the first 3 or 4 pages, and then nothing else shows up for me.  I think you can find it with the Daz Deals addons. Will also hide any threads you want to ignore. Very useful.

I'm mostly a Commons person, myself.  I occassionally wander into Daz+ and peruse the other sections if there isn't much going on in here.  I tend to miss a lot of conversations and don't want to necro.  blush

Heheheh, don't worry about necroposting here, this forum is unique in that there is no such rule, spoken or otherwise, that discourages necroposting, so feel free to necropost as if you've never necroposted before!

I've never understood the in-principle objection to necroposting - if a therad is relevant why not reply to it rather than starting a new one? Of course sometimes people will post to an old problem thread saying "same issue" when it probably isn't, but that is easily corrected.

That's good to know.  I've never quite understood the problem with necroposting, only that many many forums had that as a rule over the 20+ years I've been using online forums.  I always thought it was a bit weird.
