Don't forget to include some tentacles! Maybe some giant man-eating plants.
Dana
Man eating tentacles sound good... :vampire:
With lots of pitfall traps, and vicky-eating plants and monsters? %-P
*Edit* Derp a derp, I misread that as "you play as", re-reading it I finally saw "fight off a swarm of" hah XD
Friend of mine was making a simple game in Blender a few years back, based on that simple 'Adventure' game. Wasn't easy to restart if you got killed or eaten, had to reload the whole game. But it was pretty funny seeing the carnivorous plants in it eat you, even if the animations did act a bit funny at times (Some poke-through and whatnot). Don't think he ever finished it, he gets sidetracked a lot. But with how easily he handles Blender, man XD
Navigates it like the back of his hand :O
I've looked at the Blender Game Engine, alas it's not as portable as Corona.
I figure I can use DS to render out short animations and use them as sprite sequences. I'll make several different versions of death scenes so that it doesn't get TOO boring, same for attack sequences. :snake:
Reading the Corona tutorials now.. it uses Lua, guess I better learn Lua.. :blank:
World of Warcraft seems to make use of LUA as well, spells and some of the event scripts. Variation of LUA anyway, has some things specific to the game implemented but LUA all the same :)
Mmm that reminds me, I was playing Avernum 6 and saw the Mantis Raptor critter in it, along with the Young Dragon model, and in Avadon the Black Fortress, the Millennium Dragon took a few appearances (Has some pretty interesting boss fights. Definitely not a "Mash attack until you win" game!) and the SubDragon was used for their portraits.
I was remembering dis one dragon you fight in that game... Tough even though you got some soldiers helpijng you out and stuff. Every so often it'd throw this mind-controlling spell at you, which would surge past one half of the battlefield and it'd alternate every time - left side, then right side. Had some other tricks up its back too, but that was one part where it was evident it wasn't just a game where you would stand there just tapping Attack and "sometimes" pausing to heal / use spells. There were plenty of times where you could get off doing that, but battles like this would punish you for standing still.
Nice that at the end you can let the dragon go too, it flees and isn't seen again. It isn't really in a position to continue fighting either, so letting it live is really more a decision of mercy on your part than trying to get out of more fighting. (Tho to be fair it does offer a pretty valuable piece of equipment in return for letting it leave with its life. Dunno if you can just kill it and take it or not, but whatevers. Not like I'd choose that option anyway :B )

Man-eating plants you say?
http://www.daz3d.com/mean-green-mutha ...:)
Really liked this thing, though it was a paaain to pose the tendrils. Spline-rigging them in C4D would probably much easier than the so-called "Easy Pose" they had built in (It was not easy.)
Plus, really hated how the petal-mouth was detached from the "head". Was it really necessary for them to do that? Always caused issues for me when parenting it to the body - in Carrara and Cinema 4D. It'd float a few inches off the main head, so I always had to go in and position it manually myself >:(
Bet it works just fine in Poser/D|S, but I wouldn't know since I don't have either. Nice plant though!

I have a pile of tentacles from Rendo too... :vampire:

Has petal-mouth, gaping maw with lots of teeth, stalk that can bulge with prey, and tendrils for coiling around fleeing prey and lifing it to the mouth to eat!!
Maybe you'll have better luck with the tendril controls than I, but I simply didn't have the patience for it x'D
Also why I'll never be an animator :smirk:
Submitted for 2 jobs.. one in Minneapolis, one in Milwaukee. :blank: No escape from snow.. might as well man up and deal with it. Both are one year contracts so that's just ONE Winter...
Wanna go home and render! Out of beer tokens until tomorrow.. vodka and diet Dr.Pepper tonight! :)
Tomorrow is payday w00-h00! Beer and content money! :cheese:
...see forthcoming PM.
Morning. In the afterglow of dawn there is a cloud in the sky which looks like Jason on this Friday 13th part 2015
:ahhh: :ahhh:
there's a brand new unopened bottle o tequila smiling under my christmas tree. +1 present haven't opened yet. wanted the feeling to last

tickle tentacles? tee hee
iRay really doesn't like to get cancelled. :blank:
Also slow as Hell on this machine. :blank:
Back to 3Delight. :blank:
shuffleboarding the sun your way :)
Iray is an unbiased engine, they brute force their way through everything and take the slowest but most precise path through an image. This results in incredibly accurate images in comparison to the "approximations" and shortcuts biased engines make, but they're slow as glaciers in most cases. Wonder why DAZ didn't go with Mental Ray instead...
Oh right, I forgot about the fifteen hundred and six different switches and knobs MR has in it's "Basic" settings, not even going into the Advanced ones
Would put almost anyone off from using it. That's probably why they picked Iray then. It's the closest thing you got to a Make Art button, since there's very little in the way of set up in terms of options and configuration. Put the lights in, apply materials, hit render and wait :)
Though to get the best results, you do need to know about the basics of art, theory and composition, as well as some knowledge of light and the materials. The worst lighting setup can ruin the best models and textures, as the best lighting can make the worst models look good :)
Make art button? I doubt it. Art is much more than making something look realistic. Look at The Scream by Edvard Munch. Doesn't look realistic at all, but one of the most famous works of art. At least two of his versions were done on cardboard, too.

Just using a simple generic term - if ye wanted to name every form of art there is, it wouldn't be as simple
NPR renders is something that unbiased engines don't do well, since they're made specifically for simulating physically correct environments as closely as is practically possible, so getting fancy and abstract looks or toony looks is.... Not always possible. That's a biased engine's role, they're flexible in what they can do where unbiased engines like Iray are not. :)
Speaking of which, latest version of Vue got NPR rendering. Looks cool so far too.
Something is wrong with my phone as it keep making noises and it woke me up. It is after eleven pm and I want my beauty sleep.

...yeah,but it is a real pain getting pre-posed figures form Daz into Vue. Poser is a bit better.

That worked yay :)
No.2 pencils? :)
don't think ever seen No.1 or No.3
staplers haven't changed much
what's more fun than invisible ink?
All my best work was done in invisible ink. Example below.
Hey that would look great on a T Shirt
:ahhh: :ahhh:
The F1 Grand Prix is on here this weekend, explains a lot
That sounds alarming
So after a couple of hours of carefully animating swaying carriages and an hour or so rendering a few frames all the moves got trashed by motion blur, can't see the carriages swaying at all complaint
Iray Drop. :)

Yeah.. I had Reality for a while (before returning it due to bugs) and it was a serious waiting game. The iRay results are good, but since I need sprite sequences now, it's not terribly practical. :blank: The easiest renderer for me, was Lightwave's - it made total sense to me. :)
I own a copy of "Painting with Light", for movie-makers I know but very educational for any artist. Lighting is definitely key!
my cookie of the day
Ian is here and has laughed at the cat pictures. He wants me to share this one with y'all.
I'm just a big cat in a small box.
Awww, what a sweetie! :cheese:
looks beautiful and edible :)
