October 2022 in Blender Discussion

Im new to blender but i have a lot of experience with Daz Studio. Im trying to get a clothing set (obj File) from Blender into Daz Studio. I import it, use transfer utility to G8.1 Male and then the mesh has seems in it. Initially i dont recall having this problem but now suddenly its a thing and its like ive gone ten steps back and cannot figure it out. Can anyone please help. I should mention im using a game asset. This is entirely for personal use. Link to the Blender file provided. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MGkrK0Q6UOz00Ulw_L9dkdLboRH0JiAp/view?usp=sharing Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Maybe add an image of what you are seeing in Daz Studio.

But your clothing is separate objects, and to avoid seems you might need to weld them

So I am only working with the pants right now. I figure if i cant get that working i will move on to the rest of the outfit. This is what the pants look like AFTER the transfer utility has been used. Beofor the transfer uitility they look like one piece. In Blender to the best of my limited understanding, this is two pieces, the little pouch on his hip and the pants themselves but it does not look in blender like there are seams anywhere. Anyway I hope this helps and hope you or someone can assist me further.

The mesh is not welded across the center.

Why I have no idea. Could be an error.

If you in belnder in edit mode, select all and then merge by distance, then I think it should work.

May be you have to apply the mirror modifier before exporting ? It looks like the two pieces are not connected thus if you apply subdivision you get the seam. You should have a "apply modifiers" option in the obj exporter, if not, do it by hand.

Or merge by distance as suggested by @felis.

So real quickly I went back into blender and did merge by distance and for the moment that seems to have worked. There are no seems in daz studio. I havent had a chance to pose it much or do anything with it so I will play around with that. I will need to go back in to blender and conform the outfit to the A pose so everything fits right and see how that goes. I may have some upcoming questions to get the textures right because the files provided for textures I dont know where some of them go but at least for the moment the seams appear to be gone so thanks for the help.

Quick question though, the outfit is reversed in daz studio from the way it is in blender. What might the reason be for this and how could i remedy it?

In import dialog you can set how the axes were set in the original file, you probably need to invert one of them.
