I often feel that everyone ELSE is more creative than I am.. ugh.

Seems to be a common, but not necessarily shared, experience - must be the way brains are wired. Someone said confidence is found amongst mediocrity, I think it was Robert Hughes.

*likes asploding eyes* Hey, does this mean the image formatting is working? ETA *sigh* What's the thing there? if I post an outsize image it displays at around 1200px wide and breaks stuff.

Check out what happens if the image is 1200x1200? Dunno, I just seem to see more broken piccies when they are wider than they're tall.

Heh of course I blamed myself, being a Mac user :)

gonna need an afternoon pot O coffee today.

    parts to inventory
    chair parts to order
20 lb box of parts to ship

    blaahhh

can i eat birthday ice cream cake if it's not a birthday?
is anyone having a birthday today?
i luv it with the chocolate crunchies layer and the color sprinkles.

i've started a new poser project purely as a learning exercise. making a brand new .cr2 for P4 Dork.
it'll be funny to see how badly i can mess it up
and give me idea of how i would do the mesh differently for modeling a new male figure.
try out experiments, like how many elbow parts to make better bending.

only 2 hours left to order chair parts. it's so boring i can't focus.

Birthday cake ice cream is cool for any ice cream snack desires. Not just birthdays but any time.

    Birthday cake ice cream is

...absolutely delicious? ...heaven on a stick? ...good for whatever ails ya? :)

I'm worried about my laptop. It's at the shop and the word back to me is it needs a reinstall. I've never done one and I'm afraid I'll mess it up big time. They want $175. Is it hard to do a reinstall on a computer that is stuck in a boot loop?

As long as it isn't a hardware problem, the problems with the former installation won't matter, as you'll be installing from a CD. Since you're installing a fresh OS, it's no different than when you installed originally.

...a few end of week complaints

Been unbelievably hot for here. 100° yesterday (Thursday), 98° today. Agh!
Light rail trams running r-e-a-l s-l-o-w because of the heat.
Too hot to cook again tonight.
Work was h**l, this week and the warehouse literally felt like it.
    Ron Palillo (Horeshack) passed on.\
Comic artist Joe Kubert passed on
Didn't stop to get lunch on the way into work Thursday because the bus was 15 min late.
Spent about two hours tonight dealing with the forum log in issues.
Still haven't found a set of optical drive rails that work with the case for my workstation.
    Didn't win the Megabucks
Someone won the Powerball (was going to buy a ticket for Saturday just for fun if the jackpot rolled over)
Right arrow key on the notebook no longer works

...and a few end o' week non complaints

Took a bus from the west side instead of the "low speed rail" tonight.
Made my usual connection and arrived in the 'hood in "record" forty three minutes.
Both buses were air conditioned (we have a lot of older buses that aren't).
Stopped at the neighbourhood pizzeria and picked up a couple slices for dinner (Fennel Sausage & Cheeze).
Flat was nice and cool when I got home (have to find another place like this).
Felt good just to stay home instead of going out.
Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter is at the cinema-pub down the street.
Megabucks up to 4$ million (that's about 120,000$ after taxes on the annuity plan).

I don't really understand how Hair/Fur works in Cinema, but I do know - and have found out - that lights play an extremely important part in how they're rendered. Blehekelr,g...... I'm a long ways off from making fluffbeasts D:

Occlusion is one way to go with shadowing, if that is available to you - is particularly easy to set up for Renderman if you have a flavour available, otherwise shadowing and self-shadowing of strands requires thought and effort with respect to the particular lighting you want to match ;)

The strands are self-shadowing and the lights have shadows enabled.
Right now I'm not too concerned with the texture/appearance of the hair colors, I want to get the fluff down first and then worry about everything else.

Occlusion yields an illusion of dark volume, which provides contrast for fluffiness to happen ;)

This morning has not gone well. Stepfather cluelessly been making a scene on a walk with mum stepfather and I. He blamed me for making a scene but I was quietly walking as well as I could.

Happy hatchday? No wait it's Happy Birthday. Yesh, happy birthday. ^_^
    .
    .
Oh I find this cute, and am a little disappointed it was removed in the sequel. The game's logo has a picture of a roaring red dragon behind it, and while playing there's this little icon of a red dragon's head in the corner. If you click it, this brings up the Main Menu and all the associated stuff inside - "Overview", "Save/Load", "Exit", and so on.
    .
Well what's cute is that the red dragon is clinging to the menu and clutching an orb. What's even cuter is that his facial expressions change depending on what option you mouse over (And the orb lights up to highlight your selection.
    .
From top left to right, the selected items are:
Nothing Selected (Open the Main Menu without touching anything), Overview (Campaign Info, etc), Game Settings (Soundtrack, Volume, Graphics, etc), End Game (Quit Game, Exit Program), Load/Save Game, and Help (Interface, Map interface, website).
    .
I especially like the Overview and Help highlights. In the former his eyes get all wide, and when selecting Help he grins and his eyes narrow. "Oh so you want my help do you?" XD
    .
The first and last expressions look very similar, but if you look closely his pupil is focused on you in the first one, and it's pointed forward in the last one. The only difference between the third and fourth is how "open" his eyes are, and the fourth and fifth only the corner of his jaw is moved.
    .
    .
    .
So yeah it's a pity the icon and clinging dragon thing was removed in the second and "third" game, but he's still in the game's logo for the second game.

Happy Birthday, Skiriki! Or did you just mean you're always older than you were 10 minutes ago?
And is that based on your actual time of birth, or midnight?

Actual time of birth, yeah. In 1975, I was born on the hottest day of the (late) summer, a bit after midday (12:30 pm).

    This is a non-complaint :-o

Woo Hoo, I won big in the lottery! :)

Well, not really big but big enough to have to worry about taxes! :-o

I play about one ticket a week. I figure I can risk $50 a year for a possible decent payout. I've won as much as $80 before with 4 out of 6 numbers but this time I got 5 out of 6 numbers in the NY State Lotto (it was a random "quick pick"). Prize $862. Cool beans! :)

Too big to cash in at the local grocery store. I had to make a trip to the Buffalo area to cash in at one of the authorized Lotto payout stations in one of the Casinos. For me that's a 50 mile trip and in my financial situation that big of a trip has become an adventure.

My 14 year old car made it there and back, so that part of the adventure was uneventful, but when I got there I found myself in the middle of the Erie County Fair (major major event in this area). Thousands and thousands of cars all fighting for a place to park. :( I bluffed my way past the people charging $5 to park and pulled up next to the casino entrance and asked about temporary parking, without success. :( I ended up crusing the acres and acres of full parking lots looking for a spot. Eventually I found a spot just a hundred feet from the entrance, which is a good thing because didn't bring my walking cane.

I hobbled into the casino (never been in one before) and oogled at all the stupid people throwing their money into machines as fast as they could, one after another. Dumb, dumb, dumb! Got my Lotto winnings from the cashier cage and left the casino without spending anything. I didn't even get charged for parking. Cool beans! (*grin*).

So what did I do with my windfall? I've always wanted a great printer so I rushed right out to OfficeMax and bought a great one capable of high quality large photos. It was on sale and they were offering trade-in deductions too, so I ended up saving $150 on a $300 printer. Cool! :) I set aside some of the winnings for possible taxes at the end of the year. I set aside some to help pay for getting my teeth fixed. Finally, and to avoid guilt about not gifting friends or relatives (or store employes who sold me the ticket) I gave some to the local small town church. (I am a spiritual but not a religious person. However, I figure the church is a decent organization that despite its ties to religion tries to do good things for the local people. I did make the stipulation that the money was to be used for people not buildings. I have no respect for churches and religions that adorn themselves in stone buildings, riches, and pontification.)

I would have bought some more DAZ stuff but I already have everything I want from DAZ. Sorry.

    My philosophy about lotteries:
    1) If you don't play you won't win
    2) It only takes one ticket to win
    3) Unless you have millions to risk by buying a preponderance of the numbers, buying more than one ticket for the same contest is dumb.
    4) There is no system. Any number combination is equally likely to win.
