Yet another round of RRRR has passed and it's time to vote!

You vote here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S3SZZC2
The entries are here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/49496/P75

You cannot vote for yourself, you vote in the categories, Best and Funniest, you know the drill, if not, ask.
Anyone can vote, I really want people who did not take part of the contest to vote, and get a chance to redecorate theirs screens and desks with whatever they happened to have just put in their mouths.

What are the prizes we are voting for?

In each category:
Winners: $75 in DAZ GC + an item from Dumor3D's store
Second place: $35 in DAZ GC
Third place: $15 in DAZ GC

Voting starts now, and ends on Sunday January 25 at 23:59:59 DAZ time.

And we have winners to announced!

    Best category
Here the first and second place went to the same player, Luci45, but as only the best placed entry counts, Luci#3 is beaten by 2 points by Luci #9, and I think Luci is happy not to get that extra sticky Lucky Bastard.

Winner: luci45#9 Action Toy Maker Marketing Committee (23 points)
2nd place: KaribousBoutique #1 Birds of Prey (20 points)
    3rd place: Sasje#01 Oeps!! Wrong spell (16)

    Funniest
This was a close race, the winning entry had one more vote as best entry even though number one and number two had equal score (22)

Winner: luci45#8 Blue Footed Boobies (22)
2nd Place: KaribousBoutique #2 Big Game (22 points)
    3rd Place: obanion#01 CSI: WTF!? (16 points)

Winner will start to get their prizes soon, I just need to sort that out too.

Congrats to all Winners and to all who participated and made this RRRR a success as usual!
    Very well done everyone!

Here is the current Lucky Bastard count based on this and the last contests scores, as they now are slow melting, not just going away. This will be a reoccurring section in the winner post to keep track of the sticky, or slowly melting) LB pulls. Thanks to barbult for the idea.

Dumor3D; 2 LB (left from the previous contest)
    Luci45: 2 LB (gained)
    KaribousBoutique: 2 LB (gained)
Totte: 1 LB (1 dropped off in this content, left from the previous contest)
    Sasje: 1 LB (gained)
    obanion: 1 LB (gained)

Another tough one but my votes are in. I always make an initial list for each category to narrow things down when I'm deciding but my lists were really long this time! So many good entries! Good luck everyone!

kk... I'd like to help out voting also.. I don't understand voting either???
Do I rate EACH render 1-5??? or do I pick 5 in each category... and if so.. Why the 1-5 choices???

You pick your favourite 5 renders for the "Best" category and your favourite 5 renders for the "Funniest" category (you can vote for the same image in both categories if you think it's good as well as funny) and decide on their order (Best, 2nd Best, 3rd Best, etc) within those categories.
Then on the SurveyMonkey page you enter your Forum ID at the top, then look for your 5 faves in the lists and click on the "1" button for your No 1 image, the "2" button for your No 2 image, etc - so you end up with 1 blue blob in each of the 5 columns in each category, then you click "DONE" at the bottom to submit your votes.
Hmm reading this back I'm not sure it's that clear, but I tried :red:

Thanks Melanie... seems more complicated than it should be... I'm just gonna pick 5 favs in each and hope for the best... Don't think the 1-5 bit is needed though since the top 3 of all the votes will win. Hum... I'll try. Thanks.. Hugzzzz

Well, I suspect that there is a weighting in the final scoring - that an entry with (say) 10 number 1's will beat one with 10 number 2's - so the placings probably do matter in who gets which prize and indeed whether your entry comes out in the top 3 or not.

oooops then, my votes were not cast in numerical order with 1 being what I thought was the best and 5 being 5th place. I thought we were just given 5 votes for each category and the winners were determined by how many votes each got. Some clarification is needed here.

I understand Melanie... but I agree with Azoo... It's a LOT of work to go through all the renders when all ya really need is a 1st 2nd 3rd place winner... I'm not sure I gave mine a best worst.. etc.. it took me over a half hour to go through all the renders (I had not been following them all month so had not seen them) and to pick a favorite. If you want more people to vote... the voting process needs to be fast and quick. (my opinion)... Anyway.. just food for thought... ;) don't meant to step on anyone's toes. Hugzzzzzz all around!

Been lurking around, and had to give the comment about how long it takes to vote some thought. Yes I agree, it is not like just clicking a thumbs button next to your favorite whatever on another site. In a way, I feel it is more genuine and fare the way it is set up. Voting (or judging) is not really that difficult, it's sifting threw all the entries that can be daunting.

Pick five pics you like for each category, that's ten pics total.

Then number them from one to five, as you think there rated for the five 'Best' and the five "Funniest".(This helps for tiebreakers and such)

Now go to that vote form page, and Enter your info at the top of the form.

Then find the pics you picked on that form (for Best and Funniest), and click the number you gave the pic, for all ten pics.

click done at the bottom of the form, and that's it.

As for some ways to sort threw the flood of pics, I find 'Notepad' to be incredibly helpful, and the thumbnail view in windows. I make a list of all the pics in that entry thread, once the voting has begone, so I can save the re-named pics to my computer to sort them out. I rename the pics by the author's name, entry number, and shortened title. This helps later on match up the pics, and that form. I've just finished this step, Allot of really good entries by everyone.

Next, I will make a sub folder in that folder, and Copy all the pics I like to it, to make a short list. Then I'll make another folder, and only pic ten pics from the short list to copy to it. This ensures that there are no duplicate votes from me.

Then I'll go threw that folder of ten pics, and decide what to number them as. (Example from a former vote) F# is for the 'Funny' ones, and G# for the really Good renders (Best).

I hope that helps llolalane, and any others lurking around.

I know others like to keep there votes private, and for this round I will not say what my votes were till voting is complete, just to keep things fare (and I may not say even then). In fact, I would encourage any talks about whom you voted for, be kept private if not discouraged, unless asked after voting is complete, and even then, the 'judge' reserves the rite to deny sharing, as far as I am concerned. The only exception being a private (non public) interaction explicitly with the individual voting and the individual running the competition (for obvious reasons).
(EDIT, slight refinement for the form layout on that vote site. My vote is in)

Oh do join us next time! Here are two hints from other people on how to do the Random bit.
First if you use DIM: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/333434/
Or if you don't use DIM (or don't want to mess with spreadsheets): http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/616651/
PS: We're an odd lot (well, some of us are) and manage to find "Funny" in the most serious of places :)

Thanks zarcon... I see you take great care to pick your choices... It's a little too much work for me.. I just went with my gut as a scanned through the renders and it still took me over half hour to decide... and I'm not sure I put my votes in any particular order (cause I didn't understand the numbering system at the time). Too late for me this month... I'll try and do better next. :)

Melanie... thanks for the tips on DIM... I think I'll try that. I do have excel... question... once you use an item... does it get deleted from the list for the next random pull??? or do you keep it in and it may show up again for another pull??? Does that make sense??? lol

I kind of did that first time, and found I was spending most of my time, waiting for the entry thread pages to load. lol. You know, If I save these to my computer, I don't have to do that any more, and then the file names came in, lol. In the end, It gives me two good solid looks at each entry at least. When I'm saving the pic to my computer, and then when I'm picking for my 'Short List'.

Agreed, there was a lot more entries this time then in the past (for as long as I was involved, less then a few months).

How many times did Tote get stuck with the same item that one competition, lol. Now I need to look at what the 'Lucky Basted' extra pull was for aside from former winners. First post of the non-entry thread usually has a good start to the rules.
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/49497/
    (edit)
There are only specific reasons for re-pulling items.

    - You picked an item you already have been using in two RRRR renders in this contest and that was picked randomly. Three is a curse - rule!
"O" that has changed? or is an extra pull needed for the "Curse rule"?
(EDIT2, the rule has not changed, that's what I get for typing a post 'Before Coffee', lol)

I guess I have a lot of questions... I best get them sorted now so I will be ready for the next RRRR... Hope you all don't mind me asking them here. :)

1... Is there a theme each month?
2... How many items do we use every month?
3... No one knows what we are pulling.. so I can just pick X amount of items... Right? Or do you all have cameras in my room (looks around) to keep me honest?
(p.s.) I figured out how to use the DIM and randomize the list in Excel... but it only includes DAZ stuff. I have lots more from Rendo... Runtime DNA.. etc. that won't get included.
4... Do I have to post what items I will be using in the thread first... then make my render with the items??? or just post the items used in my final render?

That's it for now.. but I may have more questions later... :) Thank you to whomever answers ;)
