No "Daz to Blender Bridge" script

kargall1kargall1 Posts: 11
March 2021 in Blender Discussion

Hi,

I don't see the "script" menu in DAZ, so no "Daz to Blender Bridge". However, everything seems to be perfectly installed via DC.
How can I fix this problem?
Thanks :)

Have you restarted DS since installing?

    Hi,
Does anyone have an explanation? A solution?
    Merci

It should have placed a script file that DS would run on the next start, which would have set up the menus (though I'm not sur Blender hasn't joined the long-established bridges in the File menu now). If you still can't find it in File then close DS, unisntall/reinstall the Blender bridge, and restart DS.

I think most people that hang out here use the diffeomorphic bridge and don't know much about the official bridge.

@Richard Haseltine : It's OK your solution worked. Thanks ;)

@TheKD : diffeomorphic bridge? official bridge? Yes, I don't know all that. Could you explain it to me?

I believe that DIM installed tab can show you where all of the files are installed to. In case it doesn't, the Bridge will come with an Addon that must be installed in Blender.

There should be a zip file in your [Drive] > Users > Your User Name > AppData > Roaming > Blender

Something like that. Find it first so you find it. Not at 'my' computer to check right now.

In Blender go to Edit > Preferences > Addon tab

Click Install and navigate to the zip file and double-click the zip

When done, back in the addons tab enter Daz into the search bar and enable the plugin by putting a check in the box. Be patient with this step as some time for refreshing will be needed. Don't keep clicking the check box - just click it once and wait.

    Restart Blender

In Blender, type "n" and a panel will open from the right side window. One of the tabs will be your Daz Bridge

    Hope this helps

I can't remember if it's actually a zip file or simply a folder. In either case, just install the folder or the zip and let Blender do the rest. I'm new to Blender and this was not easy for me to figure out, so it's kinda fresh on my memory! LOL

Personally I do use both as they each have their own special nuances that I can use for specific things a scene might need, but sadly when it comes to installation stuff I can't help as I just press the button to install on DIM so I'm glad Richard was able to figure out what the problem was here.

https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/436402/diffeomorphic-daz-importer-version-1-5-1/p1 Diffeomorphic is just a different bridge that does all kinds of crazy things.

Yes, Crazy-Awesome Professional Animator style killer things!!! I mean... want something Robust for importing Daz figures into Blender? Yeah... Diffeomorphic Daz to Blender!!!

Just take a look at the cool, comprehensive User's Manual the author is working on. So Cool!

There are many reasons to want to take your character(s) out of Daz Studio and into something else. The Diffeomorphic plugin has an enormous (but easy to use) selection of options to cater to any of these reasons on an individual, per user basis - as well as some more shortcut oriented popular solutions.

    An example:

Taking a character into Blender can open up the more 'movie studio' means of animating than the more "for everyone" style that aniBlock blending affords - as cool as that system is within Daz Studio, it differs greatly from the way folks do it in Maya.

Diffeomorphic Daz to Blender helps us keep the Daz Studio style of rig and use as normal, importing saved poses and animations (DUF Pose) and bring in additional morphs and controllers to help us along that path. But if you want to run an IK rig and load it up with handles to help drive certain parts of the rig in customized ways, Diffeomorphic offers several solutions for applying proven, already set-up rig styles and automatically scales and fits it properly to your character, complete with an assortment of animation/pose handles.

Check out the Rigging section of the manual to see what I'm talking about.

I should add that I also like to support the Daz 3D bridges. The team seems like a dedicated crew with their hearts in the right places.

When I was talking about animation/pose handles, Daz 3D also seems to be bringing us a user-friendly means of that, beginning with Genesis 8.1's facial control interface. That's a whole bunch of control handles that can be moved entirely independently from the actual character, so we can always bring it to a comfortable position when we want to use it - which is also very helpful when using shapes that otherwise hide the interface entirely.

Great initial start by Daz 3D if you ask me. I've been a Carrara user forever - which I really love. But I just started trying Daz Studio with version 4.14 (and following up to current) and am quite impressed with what they're doing. Say what you will about DS... it's quite a genuis piece of software, and now can be used along with the endless possibilities of Blender... I'm very eager to see where this all goes - for we are only seeing the beginning right now!

Bravo and Rock On to all who play a part in all of this!!!

I have the same problem. I've installed DAZ to Blender bridge but I also lack the script options in DAZ. (Running 4.15)  Have restarted DAZ several times, have also tried to open an earlier version of DAZ to no avail.

You wouldn't have happened to find a solution, would you? I've been searcing for an answer for a bit now and can't seem to find anything.

I am having this problem as well. I have reinstalled DazCentral, Daz3D, and the Daz to Blender bridge multiple times. There is still no "Scripts" tab in Daz3D. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

So I was having a similar issue as well and about gave up.

I opened DAZStudio and went to open a file and noticed the RunOnce file from Github was under my recently opened. I selected it and boom, suddenly Scripts appeared at the top of my toolbar! Not sure if this will work for everyone, but a heads up in case!

I found the sollution.  I was going crazy with this too.  If you open up DAZ INstall Manager and find "DAZ to Blender Bridge"  You will find the application.  from there, just click on "Show Installed Files"

Now if you look down where it has this,
    /DAZ 3D/Studio4/RunOnce/Daz to Blender_Install.dsa

That is the file you need to run.  After you run it, the script appears in DAZ Studio, at the top next to Help.  It will now say Scripts.  DAZ to Blender is under that.
