What is the Matilda Hair Preset for?

I can change the color of the Matilda Hair with the color presets, but the first box on the top left puzzles me? What is it for? See attached screenshot.

It's a mat for working with presets. In the Content Library it's in the Presets folder. It's faster to load/try the presets when using it, in Iray Preview mode. EDIT: Or maybe not - there was a difference the first time I tried, but not the next times.
