Elf Ears and Hair

Today's release of Karynna for Aiko 6 has made me think again of an issue I have had for a long time with hair - specifically, I love elf-style ears, but whenever I try to use elf ears, the hair auto-follows and creates really bizarre patterns around the ears. Attached is a screenshot showing this oddity, and this is thankfully not as bad a situation as I have encountered in the past.

I have yet to find a workaround for this in Daz Studio - hopefully others have some ideas on how to deal with this?

If you turn on hidden options under the parameters options, you can select the hair and manually dial down the morph. However, you do still have to deal with any pokethrough.

If the Elf Ears are a separate morph, this is very easy.

    Select the hair.
On the Parameters tab there should be a little spot with 3 or 4 (don't have DAZ open right now) lines on it. Click on that.
Look for "Show hidden Parameters" - click that so it is checked.

Now, under "Actor" (usually) you should be able to see the elf ear morph on the hair. slide that to zero.

    And that's it.

If the Elf Ears are part of the head morph, it's a little trickier, as you need to have a similar elf ear morph available. Dial that to something small (1% is usually enough), and then see the directions above.

A back issue of DS Creative has a more graphical version of this.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know what hair is being used in the Karynna promo images? (Promotional credits are lovely when they are used. :) )

Unable to identify the exact hair model, but it looks like it is from SWAM - hopefully that helps!

Also, there may not be promo credits because items used may be from other sites. For example, I know that SWAM sells hair both here and on Renderosity.

You may be right... the quality of their creations has a certain signature to it. Will investigate.

Another option occurs before actually dialing in the ear morphs, if you're using DS.

Click the gear for properties on the ear morph you wanna use, and uncheck autofollow. Now hats, hair, etc won't follow them!

Thanks very much for the tip. I'd totally absolutely and definitely forgotten this!
