Can facial expressions be used across generations?

I know it's not very likely, but I find that it's a pity that some really awesome facial expressions were from the G1 and G2 era. I just wish that I could apply them to G3 and G8 (or even G8.1). Much appreciated if anyone can share the steps to do so (if such steps/workarounds exist), thanks!

    If they use bones, I would assume so if you have a pose converter. If they're morph based, you're out of luck, but there's maybe a converter that will convert those too

    Yep. To my understanding G1 G2 use morphs while G3 G8 and G8.1 use bones. So... I wonder whether for G1 expression morphs I can use GenX2 to convert it to G3, and for G2 expression morphs I just use RSSY Character Converter. (If it can work like this those converted morphs are not re-distributable, I know. I know.)
