May I add that this is also a lovely head sculpt?
Thanx...lovely render :)
Wishlisted for now, will get as soon as I can afford it. :) Dunno if anyone here is into Kamen Rider, but the smoke tail would be perfect for 'inner demons' like Vice from the current Kamen Rider series.
Thanks RawArt! A definite buy.
Without the glittering, glowing and/or smoky effects added, does the "tail" blend with the skin tones of the torso, suggesting a worm-like extended appendage?
with the default skins that come with it..yes it does
Thanks for the prompt feedback.
Is there any way this could be attached to a G9 figure? (I doubt it.) Or are there plans for a G9 version?
I will likely make some kind of G9 version....but since the set was not that popular for g8, its not on my "urgent" list....unless i come up with a really cool idea to make it worthwhile
Something with volumetrics, perhaps. I should try AM's Mesh to Volume to see how it works on the existing genies...
I was hoping to work with volumetrics but afaik there is no way to rig them and a static propis just not functional enough
Really cool
Absolutely, I remember when Djins, Lizardian and Bapho were released around the same time, that was such a great moment. They had so much personality, and you could really see the care and creativity behind their designs.
I think many of us feel some kind of nostalgia, I would genuinely love to see them come back, whether as reissues, updated versions, or even new evolutions.
Well, I got curious about using Mesh-to-Volume. Obviously it must be applied after posing, but results are promising, if somewhat crude. It is kind of chunky, but while making the voxels smaller (<0.5) makes smoother volumes, it clips the bounds prematurely, well inside the geometry, when the tail is posed. Same for very large voxel sizes, the volume actually is created outside the geometry. Contained Volume or Expanding Volume doesn't seem to make a difference.
If you want to try, hide everything (including all shells) except the tail to run the utility. (there might be other configurations that work also)
Vertical blend 1.0
Intensity and Frequency: middling values.
Adjust the Density Multiplier on the surfaces tab to actually see something after generating the volume.
Make everything visible again. I only used Genie-Shell-1, leaving 2 and 3 off.
It is great to see the interest in these guys. I did enjoy making them.
As soon as I come up with an idea how to make them new and better I will definately work on them....thanx for the motivation
Great results.
Are you using https://www.daz3d.com/mesh-to-volume-and-back ?
Yes, but I am not that familiar with the process. It seems straightforward enough, but did not always do what I expected. It's a starting point...
I added the pair to my WL after this thread was revised.
Sometimes it is easy to miss things when they come out
Hi RA,
Just wondering, any plans to port/update this for G9 in the future?
Still works great, but would be nice to see a new version some day :)
