And another one - me - asking for a PM with a link to her shop, pls..

I wouldn't bother, it isn't the same one...

I also did a search for Daz content, the search is rubbish and most of the stuff i saw is available elsewhere, including that place we are not supposed to mention, if you do your post gets deleted.

Um, the Rarestone I see on Gumroad is not the same Rarestone. The logo I see on the Gumroad page, which is a red diamond with the word 'rarestone' is completely different. After some searching I found that same logo...there is no way it is her, unless she has taken a dark turn. O.O

So for now we don't know what is going on. Whatever has happened is a big blow. Her content was unique and often special.

    Thanks for the clarification @outrider42

It seems, rarestone left like the others without a word. At least her items are disappearing :-(

Maybe this [Gumeroad store] will be her new place (why of all places on the earth did it have to be gumroad)? But I don't know, of course, as she didn't tell.

    Edited to remove link

Easy, Gumroad cut: 3%; Daz cut: 50%. If you are famous enough it is worth it to leave I guess.

Is it just me, or have we been getting a lot of these "where did PA NNNNN go?" threads over the last six months. Seems like more of an exodus of established PAs than I recall in previous years. Or maybe I'm not remembering it correctly?

That's sad, Rarestone is my favorite. I completely get wanting to set up your own shop and make more from your work, but then you also have to question how many folks will find you outside of Daz or Rendo (and I only look at Rendo when I see somebody posting something neat from there on Facebook). I'm not going to chase down my favorite PA's in various places to keep up to date with their latest characters and such. Sigh.

Exactly this. Is the increase in single-sale profit worth the overall loss in visibility to the customer base you're trying to sell to?

Possibly as recently as in the last three months that I've noticed it, though maybe there were some threads earlier in the summer.

Since it seems like the gumroad account under the name isn't the same as the person from here, I do hope they are going to pop up again. I always liked their clothing items, don't know that I missed any but hope they make more in the future.

No luck searching either (still waiting for a DM :P) but it looks like over on Rendo there is a new artist there with Rarestone like model for their tattoos and poses. Since links don't seem to be ok- searching for the top free tattoo or freebies should bring up the person.

I don't think it's them. At least for now. But yeah you could say there is some similarity in theme/style.  But they have different approach to promos and descriptions.

The PITA of installation alone makes me not want to seek out Daz content on Gumroad. I think leaving the big store is a mistake, but I guess we'll see.

If the PA uses the correct file path, how is the simple click of a zip file and then searching to the correct folder to install a PITA? It is literally faster than starting DIM, LOL.

The only thing I have against Gumroad is that it won't let me follow PAs or find things I want. But I also don't really care to track down PAs, since I mostly shop for the "shapes" of the assets, and there's always a chance someone who sells here will "remake" whatever I want.

You definitely can follow artists on Gumroad. I get regular emails everytime someone I'm following posts a new product or an update to something I've bought.

I know I supposedly can, but Gumroad won't let me for some reason. It keeps saying that I'm not following anyone. When I definitely clicked on the follow button. O_o

I'll take it as a sign not to go on there often, much less browse.

Wow, that stinks. Is there somewhere you can email or text for help?

  • https://www.daz3d.com/dax-avalange- ;

    still in the store.

As for rarestone, i guess that the products they had with their tons of issues (bad normals/seams/mismatchy stuff) won't get fixed and that's a bummer too :(

Related, in that the PA Dax Avalange has left the building.

Dax Avalange seems to still be a PA here. Their storefront, for no apparent reason, has a - at the end of the name -- dax-avalange- instead of dax-avalange. No idea why.

Haral does appear to have left the building, however.

So has Alexus, who I had on my wishlist for a while.

I didn't check them all, but it seems like the ones left are likely ones also listed as Daz Originals

Sorry, I didn't dig deep enough for Dax Avalange. There are 5 or 6 products that have disappeared, and the links to their store from the Vendor list and ReadMe's are dead ends (no the tail on the URL)

Another PA that has gone is Spiritfoxy. Been around forever (early 2000's), with a stint at RuntimeDNA, then back here, but no more.

  •  Bummer. I wanted some footwear from this PA.

    Oh, well...

Any chance that [Raven+ at renderosity] this one is rarestone or just a fan on his/her?

Having checked, it seems they're not all Daz Originals.

Because it doesn't install with Smart Content.

  • That's a shame. Rarestone's Face Morphs Collection was the very first thing I ever purchased at the Daz Store, and it's still in my Top 10 of items I use on a regular basis.

I hope they find a new and lucrative home somewhere on the Internet.

  • Is it possible this is a mistake? Maybe a site error?

Maybe some of these vendors have changed their names, which I noticed is rampant at that other store.  And then there's the "oh, the vendor died" - then they turn up using a completely different identity.  One vendor at the other store changed their name, and then they "died", and their old products are under their new name, and now they've come back to life and are selling products similar to their old products, but with a completely new identity.   Like, what's the big mystery about the identity of 3D content creators?  This is a fake example - why would a very successful content creator with the name Oldsage change their identity and the name on all their products to Flourpower?

  • akmerlowakmerlow Posts: 1,124

Well, dont do false hopes though. We can only wait and see if there would be a happy ending.

There's Enterables/Merlin Studios. If you examine the tags in Smart Content, the Timber-Framed Houses sets are listed as being made by Daz Originals and Merlin Studios, but in the store the vendor is labelled Enterables.

Or "Dax Originals", in the case of #3.

Oh nooo, I'm so sad. I love rarestone products.  If anyone finds out where she went, please link here.  Links are fine if requested, so I'm requesting.
