But on the grand scheme of things, Smart Content kinda sucks anyways...it's probably a good idea to get used to using the Content Manager and dig into the file structure...or customize your own.

I've been using Daz for years. Smart Content works well.

  • Yeah I watched nine items that were in my wishlist get axed today, 8 of them I'm pretty certain were RareStone as they all had similar main promo images and content. I hope they find a better place to vend because I couldn't even figure out how to find them. Seems like about once a month now I see another vendor leave DAZ as I watch another batch of items in my wishlist get axed. The way it's going my wish-list will become nothing because the vendors are leaving faster than it will because I purchased stuff, and I purchase too much now.

As I mentioned before in this thread, it doesn't pull in nearly half of what I own and have installed via DIM. I know with stuff like poses, it has a limit as to how much it can actually pull in, so if you have more than it's limit installed, it will only pull in what it can. I don't even bother with it anymore.

Is it possible that they were removed from PA status due to the long list of existing issues with their products already up there?  I'm honestly just asking.

IF DAZ3D is taking on the responsibility of maintaining a working product catalog, it would be reasonable (to me) to assume that they would expect a vendor to keep up with product updates and fixes, at least to a degree.

I loved Rarestone products, and personally own many of them, but it's no secret that there were issues with many of them that went on neglected for quite some time.

At any rate, this is all speculation that exists in the absence of facts, I am sorry to see this vendor go, but it is what it is I guess.

Their PA status is unchanged and Minami is still in the store. It just seems like a case of a bunch of pulled products, for whatever reason.

Maybe some of these vendors have changed their names, which I noticed is rampant at that other store.  And then there's the "oh, the vendor died" - then they turn up using a completely different identity.  One vendor at the other store changed their name, and then they "died", and their old products are under their new name, and now they've come back to life and are selling products similar to their old products, but with a completely new identity.   Like, what's the big mystery about the identity of 3D content creators?  This is a fake example - why would a very successful content creator with the name Oldsage change their identity and the name on all their products to Flourpower?

That makes absolutely no sense. What PA does this? Its not like they're going to get away if they've been breaking the law, and they're certainly not covering any tracks by selling the exact same content under a different name... indecision

If the Daz store is taking 50% of the cut, its no wonder some of the well-established PAs are moving on. That's a pretty big cut given how much of the work PAs do. I'm not versed in how exactly Daz's business model works, but they need to change it up so that these PAs are encouraged to stick around; otherwise its going to lead to lost revenue. I've seen more than one business shoot itself in the foot by not taking action to avoid the "revolving door" syndrome with personnel and the negative effects it has on the company's product quality & productivity.

POWERAGE is now all of a sudden named  Christoph3D on that other store.  He's created a ton of content and I've been buying his content for years.  Now all his content at the other store is by Christoph3D, but he's still named POWERAGE in the DAZ Store.  I have no belief that he's breaking any law.  People, and vendors, have the right to change their name.  Then there's that team Alpha Seed or Aeon Soul or whatever they're calling themselves now. You have an established brand and a big following, so what do you do - you change your name to confuse everyone and make your products virtually unfindable.  Each of them may have a different reason for mucking around wih their identity.  But it doesn't build trust amonst buyers.  Then there's Zeddicus - isn't she also Ironman 13?  Fabiana used to have a different name, which I've forgotten.  Movie credits have all the names of the people who worked on the film.  Musicians and vocalists have personal names, regardless of what bands they move around into, or what record label they're on.  Is there sone reason we 3D content creators don't have real names?  Every other kind of creative artist in the world has a real name known the the public - even if they change it, it's no big secret - Marilyn Monroe was Norma Jean Baker  Lady Gaga makes no secret of the fact that her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta or David Bowie's real name was David Jones. Listen, I don't care - I'm just curious why 3D content creators insist on keeping their real names secret.

They may not want their 3D business linked to their real life identity. It's relatively hard for a performer or similar public figure to keep their real name and identity a secret. although some have managed to. But if the majority of your business is based on creating products that have nothing to do with you beyond branding and selling them to a more or less anonymous online audience, that's not the kind of information everyone feels that audience needs. And if it's something they're doing on the side, I imagine there are a number of people who wouldn't necessarily want their 3D products coming up under searches for their real life names. "Hi, Grandma, I'm fine. How are you? No, those definitely are my sexy 3D doll outfits and yes I did do the pictures of the fake ladies with silly putty spines making bedroom eyes at the camera. Hey, it pays for groceries."

I imagine it's a personal decision in a lot of cases, though. I remember being surprised by learning that some well-known PAs had purged their back catalogues and changed their names once or more over the years, but when someone does something like that they've likely weighed the impact on their userbase and found that it was worth it to them.

In this business, it could be Grandma who's selling sexy 3D stuff at the site we won't name, and who would rather not have that too well known in RL ... wink

That's too bad.  Looks like their collaborations with Nirvana are gone, too, although Nirvana's solo products are still there.

You can find where RareStone's store landed by googling "RareStone's Catalog".

That led to posercontent.com which led right back here to Oops pages.

    "Oooops" is right!

Yep, looks like posercontent knows nothing about Rarestone as we are. ;) But links to products of Marcius and EmmaAndJordi are works now. Btw, moving to new store can takes a month. I hope Rarestone will appear here one day and tell us new address. At least for the sake of decency. She gone in English manner - without saying a word :)

That sucks. I bought several Rarestone characters and the two face morphs collections, but Fredda was still on my wishlist, and there were a few other items that might've found their way into my cart at some point.

Why is it that Daz and PAs never part amicably, leaving the existing selection of items available to continue generating revenue for both parties while the PA moves on to wherever/whatever with their new endeavors?

Most items that leave Daz don't seem to end up being sold elsewhere, or at least majority of the ones I've checked, so it seems like a lose-lose-lose situation for all parties involved (customers, Daz, PAs).

I wondered the exact same thing. I've been required to go back and fix issues that have come up on an item long sold to Daz at least once. They may have been unwilling to make the fixes after the money changed hands. Purely conjecture mind you. I only ever got one character from them and it did not work as advertised regarding seams.

Stuff like this is why I wonder if this is a store glitch or something. Ever since the migration to the new store software a year ago, I've observed several products in my wishlist get removed from the store, and then silently just come back (one time an old product even re-appeared as a "New Product" which I found pretty funny). Is it possible someone at Daz got careless with their database and accidentally hit the "DELETE" on the "Rarestone" section?

I guess that's what I'm hoping because theres still a few Rarestone items I wanted to buy.

It won't work. Yesterday I tried to buy the shoe collection that was in the 50% off sale as that was the only Rarestone item I didn't have and have been meaning to get, figured if it's sitting there I should snag it before it disappears. I put it in my cart and bought it with other items and found it was not actually purchased. Then I looked at the total of my purchase and realized it didn't actually charge me for the item, so sadly you won't be able to get Pei.

Well good luck to RareStone, wherever that are putting products too, or maybe not putting them anywhere again.

  •  RareStone and Nirv collaboration footwear will be sorely missed.

    Maybe it'll re-emerge one day.

    Or maybe not.

It's not like DAZ footwear is going to stop being made anytime soon.

Those collections went up to 3 and only 2 is Daz originals. 1 & 3 are unavailable for now.

Thanks for checking, Richard, it's very much appreciated. I clicked the link and I do have this set, I needed the one with the pair of chucks. Maybe it'll show up as a DO too someday.
