I'm aware of the general rule of thumb. Like I said GPUDirect working correctly in windows, like I've used in linux, for my AI work in the past, save a lot of system ram, and other resources or atleast it can.

If it won't and I know it, like said I'll adjust, I assume by the time I'll be making the purchase I can make it work.

...I looked at the details for GPUDirect, and from what I could glean, it sounds as if it is more for performance acceleration by removing the CPU from the GPU ⬌ Memory path (which is helpful) than actual system RAM management.

For example, if I had an A5000 and 64 GB of system RAM with a very heavy scene file in Daz (along with the OS and system operations) that ends up taking say a total of 70 GB in system RAM, I don't see how that would prevent the programme from, crashing once the RAM load exceeded 64 GB.  Unless it uses the second set of GPUs as some sort of memory cache.

  • I don't want to derail this thread, so I'll keep this brief, the gpudirect path removes CPU and System Ram from the normal route. If you want to continue... I'll just say agree to disagree.
