The Pirate Named VooDoo

https://www.daz3d.com/voodoo-pirate-for-genesis-81-male

Life at sea can be rough....follow the journey of a regular mar who eventually became the pirate legend named VooDoo, whom even death could not keep down

Sometimes death is not the end of the story.

His legend may have started as a sailor, who became a Pirate King, but even when he was killed, death could not keep him down and he came back as VooDoo. Myth and Magic united into a new scourge of the seven seas.

This character was designed with ultra-realistic skin skin techniques, using the DAZ PBRSkin shader. The High Definition morphs and High Quality textures will really bring this character to life for your renders.

  • Very cool character. Definitely an insta-buy from me. The stitches on his mouth are such a great touch, too!

The scarred/tattooed skin looks really good!

The stitched up mouth is not to my taste but it shouldn´t be too hard to combine the mouth of the "clean" skin with the face of the scarred skin in Photoshop.

I really wish the head and body morph were separate though. I get it for some your more extreme shapes but for a human character like this it´s a real strike against it for me.

It's bad enough you have to worry about walking the plank, but now you have to worry about being sacrificed to Baron Samedi!

    More great work from RawArt!

    Looking for Opinions

In my promos, I highlighted the cool scarring and those unusual aspects of the character, and only loosely showed that there is also a really well done human morph and clean skin that can be used in regular renders as well. So he is not all scarred pirate.

Do you think maybe I should have focused on the Man first and have the fun weird stuff secondary in my promos?

I am afraid people may only see the cursed pirate.

(I am thinking of how to approach other characters in the future...cuz the clean skins are really pretty darn good if I say so myself)

If I'm being completely honest, this is kind of what happened with me.  I saw the cursed pirate, and I DID see the picture of the cleaned up version, but since there were only a limited amount of renders of that I made the (innaccurate assumption) that the clean version was an option, but not a primary value add. So I skipped it...

Now, having seen the render above, I think I will reconsider and into the cart it goes.

This all certainly MY OPINION, and since you asked for feedback here I thought I would share, but it was absolutely clear this was a high quality product.  I just don't have a use for the "voodoo man", and I thought that was the primary focus.

Honestly, though, if you can only put in limiteed promos or pics then I think your approach is fine...  the primary WOW factor for most will be the unique voodoo bits, but if you can add more promos than you already did then even just one that highlights how the regular man stands up next to a regular G8M would have been the selling factor for me.

Yeah...I had a feeling it may be like that

I get caught up in the cool fun stuff, that I sometimes forget that "normal" is a good selling point too.

I will have to keep reminding myself of that for new characters.

But honestly, I was just being blunt and speaking of my own opinion.  If you have to lean one way or the other, for sure you're going the right direction.  THis is nit-picking of the highest order, so certainly not a fire situation that needs to be put out :)

    Amazing product, as always!

Your answer is exactly what I was looking for......in this business I have to keep exploring better ways to deal with things

For what it's worth, I remembered the original Voodoo and the later Adham, so I was looking at the other promos to see if there was a non-scarred version but not expecting it.

Maybe for future characters where you have different versions like this, the main promo image could be split with different backgrounds for each version to make it clear what's happening -- for example, showing half the head with the scarred version, and half with the unscarred version, each with a different background, or something like that.
