Who ever is designing your webpages is killing your sales

Having been a web developer myself, I know that this is not an easy task but in addition to making your web pages functional and friendly on a computer, they also have to be those things on mobile devices. Lately, your specials have missed the mark on Mobil devices. Take today, for example. When clicking on the specials, the scroll area was only about one third of my screen because the menu was fixed and took up about two thirds of the screen. Having the menu always present might be a good idea on a pc  but it should scroll on a iPhone because viewing the content becomes difficult and frustrating.

I might have bought something today if I could have seen what was being offered.

Actually, it hasn't. I tried it just now. See attached image ...

... about half the screen is blocked with a stupid pop-up asking me to enter my e-mail address so I can receive newsletters and there is no way to X out of it. So instead of browsing to see what DAZ has to offer today and spending some of my money, I left. That's ten or twenty or so dollars that I didn't spend today. Ditto for yesterday. Maybe it'll be the same for tomorrow. If DAZ thinks that this is helping their sales, they are wrong. At least as far as I am concerned. I find it to be a big turn off.

I used to check DAZ with my mobile when I was in the office and even loaded my cart quite often, but since this pop-up appeared a few weeks ago, I broke with this habit; I even deleted DAZ from my favorites inside my mobile browser.
BTW, this pop-up also appears on desktop browsers and is quite pesky, but it is much easier to forbid pop-ups with them.
But I think this pop-up fits the obnoxious marketing DAZ is doing recently. It has a bit of a honey trap to lure naive new customers into their NFT scheme.

It's pretty crazy that there is nowhere on the website to sign up for emails if you currently aren't getting them. You have to put in a ticket and they have to add you to the list manually or you have to hope to get this annoying pop up. It's also crazy that they sign you up for emails without your consent as far as I know. I don't know any other company that sends promotions without getting your permission first.

Same here. I use to see what new stuff was being offered and usually ended up buying some stuff but this new format is obnoxious and a big turn off for me. I use to browse and buy whatever caught my eye. Since browsing has now become an awful experience, I now only buy things that I have a need for. A $200 gift card would normally not even last me a week. Now, it is approaching a month so I know my purchases are definitely down and it's all because of the mobile interface.

Wait... people are using mobile phones to buy stuff?... Thats impossible, it's 1988, not 2021... waaaaaait... oops... I just saw the calendar and apparently 1988 was a while ago... seems people might actually be using mobile devices like phones and tablets these days...

    Whoda' thunk it?!

Every time this happens, they lose a sale from me for that day

On Safari for iOS, the popup doesn't show up, likely because I've already dismissed it in the past and Safari is saving the cookie. On Firefox for iOS, the popup appears, but with an X. Looking at your screenshot, it looks like you're using mobile Firefox, but it looks different from mine, perhaps your browser needs to be updated?

My other thought, is maybe I am seeing the "x" and you aren't, due to a difference in sizes of our devices? I am using an iphone max to view.

...sounds like you need a new calendar for the wall of your workshop.

Thouhg I'll admit 1988 was a pretty good year, spent some time in Hawai'i back then.

I was about to make a purchase and this pop up window came up and I couldn't continue. DAZ lost another sale.

And just before coming here I verified that I am running the latest version of the operating system and the Firefox app.

from me alone, DAZ has lost out on about a hundred dollars worth of potential sales because of these pop ups.

Can I suggest you set up an e-mail called something like '[email protected]' and use that as a destination for all the irritating rubbish you don't want to see. Then you could put that into the box & never have to worry about being bombarded by DAZ stuff you don't want to see again.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Thank you for the suggestion but one would think that this would be an issue for DAZ. I want to give them money. I want to buy something but their design won't let me make that purchase. They are discouraging sales. I just don't understand it from a business perspective

I know, but you must admit the DAZ web developers are quite stunningly fast to react to comments, and until they get around to it, it would reduce your justified (but unproductive for your health) irritation. I have never come across developers who react at the speed of the DAZ developers, and their speed truly amazes me. To give an example of other developers, I commented on Renderosity about the faff uploading freebie files to their website. Three days later, the site was amended and the changes complete. In comparison to that, I am stunned here.

I complain a lot about the website on mobile and nothing is fixed. The daily sales go by so fast that it becomes like a game to try and click fast enough before the next window is the one to open. It drives me crazy. And often the formatting is terrible on mobile. Things off to one side or text that is unreadable. I don’t think they actually test anything for mobile devices.

I am serious. I am stunned with the response to customer requests. Just not in a good way. Renderosity's response was far better than I expected when I commented.

  • For the last few days I've gotten this floating "loading" box when I try to check out. I can still click on "Place Order", but it doesn't inspire confidence in your web team.

Ah yes ok then I get it. I thought you were saying the response here was unbelievably fast. Needless to say I was confused.

    Thanks for clarifying!

May I recommend the purple sarcasm font?  e.g.:

I LOVE modal pop-ups, and I am stunned with the response to customer requests.

@MeneerWolfman I've had it too for over a week. I posted a screenshot and a query in the sales issue thread, but I was ignored. I suspect there is no web team. Maybe they just subcontract fixes whenever they can spare the money.

It has something to do with "affirm.com". If I enable it in NoScript it disappears.

Out of curiosity, I looked at Daz job postings on indeed a while back, and I do recall seeing postings for QA and web developer positions. I also remember thinking the "estimated salary" was a little on the low side... who knows if they've filled it or not.

Granted, I might be imaging this, it was a few months ago.

Renderosity can be slow too, batch download of files from an order or a product usually don't get all the files and filenames of downloaded files are not decoded correctly.  This has been broken for over a year now.

All I can do is to relate my recent experience (it's from this year). It is possible I pushed on an open door and they were already thinking of doing something, but it was a stark contrast to quite a lot here.
