My second render for this month. It is kind of a remake of the very fiorst render that I submited to this contest couple of years before. I like to think that there is quite a bit of improvement since then...

    3. mcjGenSummer (top): https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts3/mcjgensummer
    4. SY Impractical Rogue G (corset, pauldrons and kerchief)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/72661/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/SY-Impractical-Rogue-G
    5. H3 Midnight Soul (Pants and boots)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/47679/gallery/11/Poser/MidnightSoul
    6. Free Pilot Shades for V4 & M4: http://www.most-digital-creations.com/free_poser_poses_textures_morphs_props_48.htm (10th from top)
    7. Fingerless Gloves for V4*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/44995/browse/11/Poser/Fingerless-Gloves-for-V4
    8. Ciri hair for Genesis*: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/13080/P255/#194667

    12. Black Widow MkIII (the bike): http://www.morphography.uk.vu/dlcatamaran.html (1st on page)
    13. The scene is a HDRI file loadded as a texture on the UE sphere; Desert Highway: http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html (3rd in the 3rd line)
    14: Shadow Catcher*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/70391/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/Shadow-Catcher-For-DAZ-Studio-4.5+

The * means that the site requires registration.

Paid for: Gen3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis
Not Counted: Uber Environment (comes with Daz Studio, only used the Environment Sphere)

I have used this background picture with a lot of my car renders. Works real nice here. I agree with the right arm, it does hurt to turn it so far. It's nice to see folks still using the late great Catamaran's motorcycles. All is good.

    ENTRY ACCEPTED

I wouldn't want to be on her bad side! Nice looking image. Her right hand seems posed at a bit of an extreme, though. Try that with your own hand. It's quite uncomfortable. I get the feeling you were trying to position the crossbow so it would show better. Other than that the pose is very well done!

    Dana

You are probably right... I hate posing hands. I find so difficult to have a combination of wrist and fingers position that looks right.

It is a challenge, but I like doing my own posing. There are plenty of canned pose packages out there though. Some are free, too, I imagine. I know Adam Thwaites has a lot of pose packages, but I think most of them are rather sexy model or glamor poses for V4 and the other females since her. There must be some around, though, perhaps at ShareCG. When posing hands I will actually try the pose with my own hand, then try to capture that pose. It helps.

Danathat's exactly what I do, tho more then just with the hands. I agree tho, the rotations for the thumb is not exactly 'intuitive'. Besides, sometimes it is good to get out of the office chair and walk around, lol.

Posing is definitely fidelly work, especially the hands. I generally use a pose close to what I want and then tweak as needed. I find the hands almost always need to be adjusted. It is a pain but makes such a huge difference when the pose is realistic (or at least as close as I can get it).

I'm going to drop a hint about next month's Challenge:

This week's DAZ3D freebie will still be available on Friday, August 1, so I'm going to interpret Rule 7 to allow its use if desired.

Oh, and I'm looking for judges.

    WE HAVE WINNERS!

After a close review of all the entries, and they were all great, I have taken into consideration the concept of the word "punk" and it's meaning in the sence, and have chosen the following as the winners. Counting down from last to first.

Hm2 - The Survivor - Vivayo. I like the punk on the bike idea. Though most punks could never afford such an extreme Catarmaran bike like this, I still love Cat's work and the scene is very realistic looking with the lighting and such. The fact that you wnet back and made the corrections on the arm speaks to me that you really care about your work, So with all this, I felt it deserved an HM.

Hm1 - Appearances Are Deceiving - Kalazar. I like this one because of the complexity of the scene and the camera angle of it. There is more going on than just throwing a figure up and rendering it. A lot of work went into posing, lighting, and such. Also I like the punk style. So, I felt it also deserved and HM.

3rd place - Punk Bang - Ippoyamus. This little lady has the punk look down to a tee. I love her pose and expression. The nose chain really added the essence of "punk". If she had been in a bit more of a setting, I would have given her a higher rating. The still backdrop just wasn't enough for the challenge, but still nice for a portrait render.

2nd place - Louie Da Punk - Lord Ganthor. Well, Louie is at it again. And dat mut o' his is too! I just love the giant safety pin in his hair...too funny LG. As we all know, you use Bryce for your renders, which has an advantage on Daz for this style of rendering. Yours always come out superior and very cool, so I decided, for one, I would give someone else a fair shake with Daz. I hope you agree, as you always win...lol. And with Louie...it's always a win too! Hopefully, you won't have a problem with that, so I still gave you second place. Oh...and also...I really Like the winning render this month...because Wendy was a punk trend setter and she actually did cut a stratocaster in half onstage!

    and finally....

1st place - Butcher Baby - Slimer_J_Spud. Congratulations on a fine entry. This little piece of history takes me back to Plasmatic nightmares! Wendy- O Williams was one to behold. She stood about six foot six and even taller with platforms. I had the oportunity to see her backstage in Atlanta in 1979, at one of their shows and she is a monster! Kinds like standing next to Gene Simmons of Kiss...you look up at them...lol. I love the way you have her posed, just like she would have been. This render is awesome. So...I gave you first place for the ultimate "Punk".

OK folks that will do it for this month. I would like to thank all who entered. I want to thank Alexis for keeping the gallery updated because I sure don't know how...lol. I want to thank Kalazar and Luci45 for coming to see us again, we missed you! To all that entered, you are all winner in my old eyes, thanks for all your time and for joining us to play.Get well Jeeperz! R.I.P. my friend Jaderail. Sorry things didn't work out Dollygirl, maybe again sometime. Thanks for all you have done.

Now...Let's all go over and see what Robkelk has going on in the August challenge.

OH....DON'T FORGET WINNERS (INCLUDING THE HMS) TO SEND ME A PM WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDY YOU REGISTERED HERE AT DAZ WITH SO I CAN GET YOU YOUR PRIZES.

Who cares who won?!? I don't care who won!!! *spits in your general direction* I don't need this !@#$%^ *&%$! I'm outta here!!!

...I mean, that would be the general punk reaction, right? I dunno...I never got into the whole scene myself. I grew up in the rural south where "real" punks were about a rare as hen's teeth. I never saw a real one up close until the mid 1980s and by that time it was pretty much over, I guess...but, I digress...

A big congratulations to everybody, win, place, show or just entering and thank you for 2nd place. I totally agree with you that stylistically I may have a bit of an edge with Bryce but it's what I feel the most comfortable with. Anyone can learn to use Bryce and with all the help you can get over on the Bryce Forums and the wonderful people over there you can get pretty good at it. And, as I've said before...and I'll say it again! I don't enter contests to win...I enter 'cause it's fun! If I can get a good picture out of a theme (and maybe a laugh or two) I'll keep doing it. Besides, I can't help it. These damn fool ideas just keep poppin' into my head every time a new month starts. Congratulations to everyone again and thank you.

It doesn't get much more punk that Wendy O. Williams.
    Great choice for the contest.

Glad you like it. There are two big problems rendering Wendy O. Williams. One is trying to capture the ferocity and fearlessness she put into her performances. The other is staying within the TOS!
