Hip to waist ratio of G8 females ?

A Question about the hip to waist ratio of the G8 characters I have installed.

I have the feeling that the hip diameter in relation to the waist diameter seems to be quite high. I am aware of the general body proportion rules regading females and males, but still fell the hip size is bit overdone in those characters. Is this only my impression?

Of course I found the hip size morphs so this question is just out of curiosity.

On the contrary, I often find the waist a bit too thin, rather than the hips being too wide.

Me too, but perhaps the women OP sees often IRL tend to be ones with narrower hips. Where I live, women tend to have wider hips and wider waists. The "DAZ average" may not be the average in their area.

Fair point. There are so many varieties of human bodies around the world. I prefer somewhat curvier female shapes, with wider hips and waists, and I am glad I can find those in the store too.

Although I still think that even with narrower hips, some waists are just a bit too overdone and won't be able to accommodate the internal organs, if I really like a face of a figure, but not the body so much, I can always use the plethora of morphs I have accumulated so far. That is one of the strengths of Daz Studio I like.

  • I think it depends on what kind of shapes you normally work with. I usually end up widening waist, hips and thighs, while giving a little more glory to their bums ;)

That, and the fact that in many cases, you can plop the head you like from one character on a body you like from a second character, and then use the texture you like from yet another character.  I'm still kind of picky about head morphs, but regret paying too much attention to body morphs in the past.

Whenever I hear the word average, I think of the US airforce's attempt to make cockpit seats average.

The discovered that average didn't exist.

Good point with with waist to narrow instead of hip to wide. Anyway, thanks for your opinions.

On the other hand, I'm considered Mr. Average in terms of size (and probably a lot of other things too). I find that airline seats, car seats and others I can't think of now seem to be designed with me in mind. Trouble is that I often get seated next to someone who takes up half my seat as well as their own.

I do too. These would be the thinnest girls in my renders, unless I was trying to do one to show what a product looks like by default. I suppose they still might not be considered "average Americans" but they're a lot closer to average for my family. But on the other hand, I guess with software like this there's not exactly a need to try to make things average.

Personally i don't even think twice about any of it since it can all be changed with morphs. It's like worrying about the ham and cheese sandwich I got when I work at the deli and can make another one.

    Nice render and nice ladies.

The leftmost lady might want to consider getting new yoga pants, the fabric of the current ones is ripping a bit at the seam, and the spot is quite unfortunate.cheeky

Well why should you always have to make two ham and cheese sandwiches just because everybody else thinks the cheese should be on top but you want the ham on top?

Would you happen to remember which figure (and skin, if different) did you use for the instructor character, please?

All art is nothing but proportion.  Every aspect of art is proportion.  The size of the nose in proportion to the mouth.  The proportion of white and red paints in the mixed colour.  The proportion of words in the lyrics to the number of notes in the music.  The thickness of the line in proportion to the object being drawn. The proportion of sopranos compared to the number of tennors.  The proportion of the expressed emotion relative to the necessity of the dialogue.
