I would love to see some slimmer male characters for sure!
It says on the description: Niko 8 comes with hand crafted Sci-Fi and Scars Body Maps in addition to his HD Details and customizable options, so I assumed the HD was included this time and wouldn't be sold separately...but who knows
Why? current small themed bundle are inconsistent in amount and type of items, and the "value" one gives to type of items is subjective; so that point of view cannot ever be accurate.
Price per item in a budle may not be 100% objective but is more accurate as bundles discount per amount of items and/or its actual value.
So, let's add the price of the items to the equation to make it complete.
Niko Bundle individual items base price: 134,75 Bundle price: 93,95
Scar 8 starter bundle individual items base price: 148,7 Bundle price: 89,95
Result: Is more Expensive.
I don't really understand the current system of bundles. Niko figure includes anatomical elements, according to description. Those used to be only available in a pro bundle. I think that's progress for folks who just want the figure. This dude is pro-wrestler sized. 6'6" and probably weighing in around 280 lbs.
Oh how I do love these incredible full body morphs.
Question. Is anyone able to break down all of the products used in the PROMO? I am very interested. Even in the Background (Stonemason?) and poses. Many thanks!!
Cant see the starter and pro bundles for some reason. Alas, I shall wait.
I like male content, but I'm not that impressed. Plus, I'd have to be nuts to try and buy something expensive through the store, with the problems that I'm having on checkout.
Thanks for the banner though, Daz.
I will be genuinely shocked if they release HD morphs for Niko. He's another Artstation character, like Underbelly and Tara.
Daz has put the artists name on Niko's page. That leads back to his page at Artstation, where Niko was originally created under the name "David". (Which Daz understandably changed; calling a character "David 8" would lead to expectations that Niko couldn't possibly fill.) As with Underbelly and Tara, both the character and his featured outfit were all done together. That also explains the unusually small bundle -- I don't remember for certain, but I think Underbelly was the only one of the first two Artstation characters to get a two-part bundle release; one with him, his hair and clothing, and a second Mobster bundle that had architecture.
Oddly, Niko is the first of the Artstation characters to include Anatomical Elements, for some reason.
Since neither Underbelly nor Tara got separate HD releases, I suspect Niko won't, either.
I think Niko looks amazing!
I'm in no hurry to get him because I already have a similar character in Daniel.
But I'll eventually get Niko for sure!
I really need to pay closer attention when I'm buying these bundles. I had an email offering me a big discount on the Supercharged Cyber bundle but I checked and found I alrerady have everything in it. But the orange banner gave it a differnt name, the Cybercharged Bundle, and I thought this was the main bundle and bought it!
I'm going to ask if support can refund this but not cancel my purchase of the seperate items, but when I check my library it shows them all purchased in today's order, not when I first bought them. I hope they can find the orignal orders otherwise I can't prove that I have already bought them.
I suppose this just shows that I'm an idiot,
** added later **
Support sorted the problem, gave me the money back and kept the items in my library. Well done Daz Support as usual
I think I might be the only person who has been a hard pass on any of the ArtStation characters. They look great...on ArtStation. Not great in Daz. Underbelly was underfinished (*giggle*). Tara only vaguely resembled her ArtStation origins. And this one? Nope. He looks similar, but he does nothing for me. There's something about his skin that just doesn't look right.
And buff guys might trip this lady's trolley, but srsly, let's mix it up. I'd love to see some gangly buff guys...think like Floki in Vikings. We've had the dad bods. We've had the old bods. We've had more than enough of the freakishly cut bods and giant bods and freakishly cut giant bods.
All that being said...thanks for the banners but pass.
Same here
Agreed.
I'll second the longing for some less muscly guys. There's Eli, Owen, and David 5 and thats pretty much it for all the Geneses (I still use the David I've transferred down the generations If I had to pick one character to be my all time fav its him)
I do like the artstation characters. As much as anything for research - theres a certain similarity in how most daz characters are done and ints interesting to see some different styles (this is probably more from the content creation side of things - i like looking at normal maps. underbelly had some impressive normal maps)
also having purchased niko, he has less of the issues that Underbelly started out with in regards to limited options - hes actually very modular - one eye color buuuut the base, scars and ritual scars are all seperated out so for the torso, for instance, there are 4 sets of color and normal maps: base, ritual scars, scars, and scars and ritual scars. the base morph is HD with aditional seperated hd scar and ritual scar morphs. also the head and body morphs are seperate
Not impressed with this. I was also offered a bundle for $7+ when I own all the items. Great.
I like most of the items in the bundle, except for the night club environment and the female character. I have never cared for the smaller skinny guys, and it seems that for once, I'm in the majority. Sadly, I have to pass on this bundle thanks to IRL expenses. I have been wanting more flowly dForce fashions for the guys, even though I dislike the cyberpunk aesthetic, despite loving robots. >_<
So has anybody actually picked up the character? Any thoughts on him?
I didn't pick him up, yet, but I was looking to see if anybody did and what their experiences were.
I picked him up, but will have to take a look later tonight, since I am at work. But I'll give my thoughts later.
Awesome! I'm excited to hear what you think. He looks unique enough, and I'm normally happy to be the one to gamble on something but this one came a little too close to the holiday for me to not consider it more carefully lol.
It does look like he mixes well with others from the promos. I've no use for the engraved designs on the skin, but it's optional.
The two outfits are odd, but at least one of them has what look like some useful bits for kitbashing.
I've no use for the nightclub, either. But I did like the Ellaneck character.
I did and posted a bit of a review right up above you
In terms of technical elements
other thoughts: by default he's a bit matte but adding some extra spec isn't hard - and normally I tweak way more. The palm transition looks a bit sharp - buut I am not enough of an expert to claim whether its realistic or not
All in all I quite like him
also long purple coat? yellow googles? vaguely futuristic? instant static shock vibes hitting me right in the nostalgia
Wait so real people don't actually have a second pair of shoulders between their first?
(seriously the bizarre massive trapezius muscles are probably worse than the "eeeeeeeveryone gets deep nasolabial folds and HD crinkle lips" thing.)
The guy in the bundle before was about as wide as he was tall.
Thanks! It's good feedback, I appreciate it!
Can anyone post a render of the back of this: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-cb-haze-delta-clothing-set-for-genesis-8-males please? The promos don't show it, and it's the only item I'm interested in. Thanks in advance.
A couple of renders - one of niko and one of the outfits combined on a yournger character (though using some of nikos morph) because again: purple coat. yellow glasses > static shock
also given all the cyberpunk I have to mention these free hdris they're not super high res, but thats what dof is for and theyre very neon
@zombietaggerung Ill render up the back of the outfit you requested too
A very incomplete render but:
and the front:
