just got back from food shopping. had a nice fettucini alfredo at sputinos. called a taxi home. :)

a few bucks left for gisell. hard to choose to one character skin, one hair

after today, i have a new shopping rule, no buying until after i render the last thing bought.

If I went that route, I'd be missing in action for years, rendering stuff. :grrr:

    Dana

 can't remember what scene i was thinking of for half the stuff.

if i stop buying content might actually save something up for c4d.
it helps that carrara counts for a competitive upgrade price, or it did last time i looked.
Hey Misty! You placed 2nd in the Lyrics To Pictures Contest! Congrats!!!

Looking good! I haven't been in a subway for a while (or maybe you call it the tube - in Boston they just call it "The T") but I don't remember them having a blue cast, anyway. Nighttime outdoors, yes. But I think maybe a slight greenish cast if they have a lot of old florescent lighting (of course, I'm thinking of the cast left on daylight balanced film by florescent lights), or maybe a little bit pink/orange if they have those mercury vapor lights that are on the utility poles in a lot of this country. The last time I took The T was back in the 1990s when I had jury duty at the Federal court building in Boston.

We call ours "The Loop" and it is lit like orangey daylight, I'm trying to find a way out of the blue tunnel trope but still need a shadowy kinda dangerous look and under pressure to blue it up cos "that is what everyone else does"

Morning. Turtledoves cooing in the orange streaked dawn outside my window :)

    Where did everyone go?

I've been busy with my website database and distracted. I had to move data to a new database (I had two available on my hosting service) because the old one was acting up...I couldn't save new stored procedures (code). I had to recreate some tables because of certain properties that the export/import routine didn't recreate, it just copied the table structures and the data. Then I had to reload the data. Then I had to regenerate all the existing stored procedures. Anyway, I just put it live and the site seems to be working OK with it. Now I can move forward again. They couldn't figure out why the old database wouldn't let me save new code, the new database will. They are both on the same big server. Actually, I never liked having two databases anyway...it would have been a nightmare to use when one started to get filled up. Now I'll just have one that is twice as big!

I know...a long, draw-out explanation that nobody wanted to read. :smirk:

    Dana

not at all, done my share of coding but not for databases, that's rocket science imo :)

I think ps1borg meant flying during sunrise - while the sun is rising in Sydney, New South Wales.

....latest update for the DIM crashed and burned again wiping out all the DIM folders without installing the new version. This is the third consecutive time this has occurred and it is beginning to become a little annoying. Never had this issue occur in the past until two versions ago.

Wow, the only issues I've had with it is a few files failing download, or failing install. A couple never did succeed at the installation point in the process. I don't know if I have the newest version or not. But maybe I don't want it if that's what's going on. I only started using in in late April, after I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro and had to reinstall DS and Poser Pro and everything else. I could have kept the old runtime, but thought maybe it would be better to get a clean one. The old one was messed up a bit. I used to install everything into that one runtime when I first started with DS. I've since made a different runtime for freebies that are not from DAZ3D and one for paid items that are not from DAZ3D. I will probably want to see what I have installed in the old runtime, because there are some freebies that I definitely want, and there may even be some paid items in there that are now abandoned.

What is the version number on your DIM?

...the last one was 1.1.0.7 The update is 1.1.0.15.

Unfortunately when it indicates there is a new version available on opening you have to update it . The only other choice it gives you is "Work Offline". While I know I can manually DL and install, waiting for a reply on the DIM update thread to see if anyone knows what would keep causing this to occur.

Oh, I just checked...I have the last one. When it started it said there's an update. The choices were Update or Work Offline. Does the latter mean the it won't download things? What good is that? So it means we are forced to get the new, buggy, version if we want to get any updates or new goodies? :-/

...yes, if you choose "work offline" it will not connect so you will not be able to download anything.

I think only some are running into the issues I keep getting, so the error seems to be "hit or miss". Still no reply on the update thread as to why this is happening.

LAX to MEL or SYD day gives you a sunset. LAX to MEL night gives you a sunrise. Is all ocean so sun and moon are the only thing there is to see :) ( could only find a LAX to SYD flight path) Think that is the longest over ocean route there is :)

Very conservative industry, mostly from the bottom up - there is a documentary about the making of Blade Runner called Dangerous Days
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1080585/
(warning: very long) that makes the point nicely, especially the bit where the (LA) crew wanted the (upstart British) director deported

Seems the new Mac Pro is a lot faster than the older ones under the hood - it renders Lightwave volumetrics at least fifteen times faster - core for core - meh can't help thinking glass half empty stuff, there must be a way to get older models running at least nearly as quick
