Wow, that's an incredible price for "Filter Forge Pro". If its the current Filter Forge 4.0 Pro, its a heck of a deal at approx 30% of list. Can someone verify this is the PRO version, as the non-discounted price looks closer to the standard version list price from FF direct.

Here in Europe we get stung an extra 20% tax for buying it direct from the FF site (cynically, I wonder how long that "last 24 hours" goes on for!), so the offer here still works out considerably cheaper . I hope it'll be going for a few days, cos I need to wait till my next credit card billing cycle!

Speaking as an owner prior to this sale...

It works as both a plug in and a stand alone program. So even if your Photoshop doesn't pick up the plug in, it will still function.

I have used it in both methods, depending on the project I am working on. The interface is virtually the same between the two instances.

This looks like it could be useful for making fantasy style skins, but dunno if can get since Giselle comes out this week too D:

The filters are extremely extensive. I have not bothered to invest time in creating my own since there are so many available to download.

I've attached an example of a photo I modified using Fliter Forge. I ran it through a couple of filters in sequence with minor tweaking of the filters functions.

I'd also like to know which filters you used.

I've been using FF since version 1, but haven't upgraded from version 3 Pro because I don't use it as often as I thought I would.

As for it working with CS2, version 3 certainly does, so I'm sure version 4 does as well.

One thing to note, you "don't" have to use it as a Photoshop plugin. Filter Forge "does" work very well as a standalone app.

I knew someone would ask that and I wouldn't have an answer. Since I was experimenting with a bunch of filters until I got the effect I wanted...

But, I know I used "Paint HDRtist" and I used one other: "Paint Thingy," "Sketchy Painting," or "ArtoMatic."

What I do is make a bunch of duplicate layers in Photoshop and then Filter each of them. Experiment with what they look like, then start working on the layer blending.

So since I am flying through a bunch of them, I never remember what it is I did.

I know exactly what you mean, the times I have done that. When I am making textures I always label my layers, but always forget when doing post work

Just checking price difference from Daz and FF site ( in canadian dollars) I end up getting charged 118.00 for the 99.00 sale price, but I am not sure what the exchange would be on my CC purchasing from DAZ at 111.27, I think it would be comparable. Debating about waiting and hoping that this will go on 40% at a later date.....

Sorry, I might be blind (quite possible), but where do you see the special on the Filter Forge site? The only one I see is the subscription at $29 per quarter?
    Thanks

Oh, and I already use it on my work PC, but I want a version for home. I use it all the time for generating tiling textures for materials in Vue. It is great. I almost never use it for post work...

On the FF website if you click the buy button it will take you to the page that shows the 99.00 sale, but it's only today for the sale

Hm, strange. I see FF Pro for $399. The only discount offered is for the subscription. Odd. maybe they don't like me. Oh, well the DAZ offer is very good.
    Thanks

I didn't see the offer this morning when I first saw FF on Daz, I've just bought it and went to download one of the filters that finally made up my mind and there it is for $99 but due to the fact that they use digital river for payment we Europeans (in this case Brits) get hit for 19% VAT (1% less than our usual rate) plus what looks like a rather seriously unfavourable exchange rate, in my little neck of the woods that'd tot up to around $168 all in (when in fact it should be around $131, inc. VAT at 20% if they had been playing fair on the exchange rates).

I really hope so, cos I only have "toy" photoshop (can't afford 600+ quid for the full one), which doesn't support plug-ins.

It's more than 30% off list.. if you go to their website, full price is normally $399, and as FSMC said, their $99 sale is going on until tomorrow.

For whatever reason, they're selling Pro here for a lot cheaper than they are on their own site ($158.95 vs $399)

No hoping involved, it does. :P

God, Digital River. I don't think there is enough obscenities in the English language to describe them.

That's generally why English has been so good at incorporating... select words, shall we say, of other languages, we can always expand the amount of obscenities available :D

Even with those I am still not sure if that's enough. (If you don't already) one dealing with their "Customer Support" and you may understand what I mean.
