How do you move your figure in Blender?

DinkelTwinkelDinkelTwinkel Posts: 4

I only know how to move the figure with Pose mode, with the giant gizmo at their feet. Is there a way to move them in Object mode? Doesn't seem to allow it. Or turn the posed model into a static mesh?

You can use the x, y, z coordinates in the object panel or you can use the lazy viewport addon which gives you a similar control on the object as Daz does when you press "g" (move), "r" (rotate) or "s" (scale). I can't find the link right now but I think its on Github, I'll take another look later if you don't find it in the meantime.

I've searched "lazy viewport" and found nothing. Any other hints?

What are you hoping to accomplish by moving the figure? I must warn you that if you move the figure in object mode, it will change the location of the origin point and that can mess things up.

Basically I have a big scene and my figures have objects attached to them; Like Weapons and clothing. When I moe a figure I have to do it separately at the moment because object move doesn't work.

Oh you are right, my figure turned into Mr Elastic :0 Do you guys know any other to move my posed figure into a different position my scene with the objects and items attached?

What method did you use to transfer the figure/scene to Blender?   There are several possibilities. Knowing this would help to explain the 'giant gizmo' you talk about, and also what the best way to get the props and weapons to move with the figure.  Screenshots of what the figure looks like when it arrives in Blender may also help.

Are the objects and items parented to the model? Because they should move along with it. If not, there's any number of things it could be.

Check the constraints panel to see if the objects are being prevented from moving.

Press "N" and see if "Affect Only: Origins" is ticked.

Look for any purple data fields, which means a driver has locked the property.

Wait I will check. By Giant Gizmo, I mean the circle with 4 arrows coming off of it. At the feet of the figure, used to move everything at once,

That sounds like Rigify, which is an add-on for Blender that creates an advanced armature beyond the Blender default. I believe it automates some of the posing with drivers and the like, which might be why you can't move it. I'm not familiar with it, but if you search YouTube for "Rigify" you'll find tutorials about how to use it.

Hi my friend found the solution to this problem. Turns out it's simple, For some reason transformations are all locked by default in the import. Select the Armature in object mod, Click N to slide open the menu on the left of the viewport. Click on the Item tab, click transform and unlock all the transformations.
