"Choose 1 of the following for FREE" explicitly denotes a choice from a selection. (Then they listed the set from which the selection would be made). I forgot English is not Daz's first language.

I just added one G8 bundle.  Does this mean I lost out on 2 G3 and 3 G2 Pro bundles simply because Daz can't write?  Jeeez...

I've made that mistake before...submit a ticket and they should help you out.

I can confirm...purchased Ashan 8 Pro Bundle, three add-ons...and got one G8 Pro Bundle, two G3 Pro Bundles, and 3 G2 Pro Bundles all for ~$39 (with purple banner).

For some reason all 6 bundles are $74.22 each for me.

no you intepreted it correctly.  And the offer is now working correctly

Which way dies this mean it is supposed to work for the included past bundles?

It means you can choose EITHER one G8 Pro Bundle OR two G3 bundles OR three G2 bundles (but not any cross-generation combination of them).

  • Can't say I've ever seen an incentive that gives away SIX pro bundles for buying one...so when I tried it early this morning after seeing the initial comments in this thread, I knew it had to be a mistake. I'd be bummed if I missed it too...but it was quite clearly a mistake. No reason to get bent out of shape at Daz for fixing their mistake. Now if the ad had actually said "and" instead of "or" and then they didn't honor it, then yeah.

I have seen some of the sales when there were several free pro packs from Previous generations possibly 3 or 4, I don't remember and don't want to go through my past purchases to figure it out. Yes it's disappointing when you get a cart ready as you are working out the financial part only to come back and it's changed on you. In the past, I have benefited from their mistakes and they honored it, other times they have not. It dies take the wind out if your sails when the tides change midstream

Thank you for the clarification since my cart registered one way and I cam back later when I knew I had the money and it had since changed.

I like Ashan. I think he is going to become a desert warrior in my scenes.smiley

I made a quick and simple scene with him. It still needs some more work to be fully presentable in my gallery, though.

    Oh, come on Lizzy!

I may be overreacting, and reality will set in a week or two, but right now, this is easily my favorite daz/poser product. Skin is just a littttttlle pale, but on the otherhand that means very customizable. Daz has always led in morphs and design, but they've outdone themselves. Very much up there with Olympia7, V8, Darius 6/7/8 and Monique, M7 and Lee of course. (Edit - had to keep adding characters I like)

This looks great! What skin settings are you using here? Or is that "out of the box" and just the lighting/render settings making it look so detailed?

Hello @divamakeup , you know we've been working on skin settings for a long, long time! Feels like at least 5yrs, maybe more like 10. Yes skin settings are custom. I favor dryer looking, more oily skin and faster renders, so: No SSS maps. Translucenly weight at 0.5, Transluceny color White with Diffuse map. No Dual Lobe. Glossy layered weight 1 with Specular map. Glossy color white. Glossy roughness between .3 and .5. Refraction between 1.33 and 1.5. Bump at 3.0, Normal at 1. No top coat.

Ah Very Cool! :D And yeah, skin is definitely it's own "science" in 3D work. heheh

Here is my first test -

I did swap in Abasi's eyes and brows as Ashan's are...pretty awful. In addition, I blended in Owen's specularity map for the body and part of the face as Owen's has much better detail. Ashan's seem rather low rez if viewed in Photoshop at 100%. I also did my personal tweak to his SSS maps. His body morph was moved down to 50% as he's entirely too buff.

I must say: Daz has out done themselves. I know its pure opinioin, but I think Ashan is the best Genesis 8 male to date. He's pure mascline and strong. He doesn't look like beta or a cuck. The new product deals for loyal customers was absolutely awesome on this release. Definitely a buy for me today.

Here's my test render of Ashan, but using the Ytar texture for skin and eyes, Abasi beard and brows, and Baby Locks hair.  Pose is one of Underbelly's.  Also used Auto Muscle Enhancer set to a minimum level, but with AME Veins set to a moderate level.  Did a few minor tweaks to ear lobes and eyes.  Ran the render through Photoshop for contrast/color enhancement and cropping.

I like this character quite a lot.

The lighting I used was from Fast Production Lights for Iray, but probably tweaked a little bit.  My render settings say the environment was the FPL004Mono HDRI map.  I can't recall what intensity and tone mapping presets I started with.  The Fast Production Lights for Iray product is an awesome addition to my rendering workflow.

Welcome to Daztopia, Lee! I bought Poser Pro 11 on sale when Bondware acquired it, but I haven't really figured it out. It has come in handy for importing fbx files to Daz (Daz' fbx import doesn't work properly).

Ytar for Ashan is so far my favorite shape and skin tone. I'd probably add some HD to him, but this wasn't included so I left it out. He's wearing Action Hero Hair.

Abasi has a hot body... And  a very highly defined wrinkled face, which seems incongruous ous to me. But, that body is amazing. He's wearing Ceejay Hair.   If I had my druthers, I'd probably de-age him a little in the head region. He comes with body and beard hair options.

It's a 'coming soon' hair called Sitric hair. Apologies, I thought it would be in the store before Ashan 8.

Hi Serene. It's always a compromise with a HD character as opposed to an add-on. He comes with both normal maps and HD details to cater to those who prefer to be able to use the character at lower res and also those who prefer HD.

If you up the subd levels, I'd suggest dialling back the normal maps, as the effects start to double up. G8's face UV maps are also larger than the body, so this doubling up of detail tends to be most apparent in the face. :)

so are you saying the HD add is not really necessary to achiev the great HD look?

The normal maps mimic the HD features. They will never fully match the quality of high res detail for close-up rendering IMO. But if it's a big scene and the character isn't close-up in camera, subd level 1 with normal maps is perfectly adequate. I wouldn't dial out the HD detailing even at lower resolution though. It still adds some details. Also some softer lighting doesn't show the skin details well, so sometimes having the option of both HD and normal maps is desirable.

Why do they have the HD then? Is that for folk that buy interactive licenses so they can export the HD version to their game engines? The HD is going to slow down the viewport while the normal won't (unless you do iRay preview).

'Cause sometimes I wanna use the normal maps from one character, but I still want lip definition of one of the HD morphs, or whatever.

Usually the opposite I believe. For animated gaming, low poly with normal maps is desirable. For still portrait rendering, HD will always give better quality. As to the viewport, you can easily control the subd for both viewport and render in the parameters tab, so the HD morphs need not slow down anything, except the actual render, at higher than 1 subdivision.
