Wheee  a render with a background!

Also I 100% channeled the cover of the copy of the True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle I had in middleschool without realizing it.

Thank you. On the latest render you posted, I don't see a green tint, she looks naturally reddish-brown. Although with the background, it would be natural to have a tint. Like that pose also, and kitbash.

    Happy Birthday early.

Oh good! Now I know which monitor I can trust more for colors. :) Thank you - and thanks for the happy birthday wishes! It's still a couple weeks away, but the hubby decided that life is short so why wait. lol :P

Happy Birthday to @Divamakeup! Nice renders. What does High Seas Hair look like under the hat?

    hahah Thank you! :D

The High Seas Hair is definitely meant to be rendered with the scarf or a hat. Without it, the hair cap is highly visible. Here it is with the scarf's cutout opacity at 0 (also Sub D added to the hair):

Here I covered the spot with the bangs from OOT's Mega Updo and then applied the same hair shader to both:

Thank you so much, Birthday Gal! I know it's in the future, but so am I. Why couldn't there have been a hairstyle underneath the PlayDoh? I really need a flat center-parted straight hair with the actual scalp showing as an alternative to Georgia Hair.

In your renders I can finally see what she looks like. She's still pretty but she's in her thirties or so, which wasn't clear before. I figured, "Got to be good lookin' cos she's so hard to see."

    lol Too funny! :D

If you need a flat, center-parted hair with the scalp showing maybe Sorrow Hair? https://www.daz3d.com/sorrow-hair-for-genesis-3-female-s

I have that! I think there was some reason it fell off my list. May have been that I couldn't get it out of her face like I wanted. I'll revisit it. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else here, but I got the fright of my life when I pulled up this promo of Sahira this morning because she looks FREAKISHLY like me, including the hair surprise -- super weird sensation!! Not sure if I like it or not, haha, but I guess it's a positive for the modellers at Daz who are going for realism.

Congratulations, @lana_lass, on being beautiful! You're probably used to it by now though.

blushThank you @xyer0 Well at nearly 30 I've learned to be happy with how I look now, but as a person of Middle Eastern lineage growing up in Western Europe I did not meet the beauty standard at all and certainly received the implied cultural message that my ethnicity was unattractive. To be attractive was to be blonde, fair skinned and with delicate features... and I was the opposite! Silly, but honestly it remains imprinted in my mind no matter how I might look now. I think a great many of us experience this, if not because of their ethnicity then because of being "different" from their culture's idealised concepts in some other way. And that's why whenever Daz releases a Floyd, an Ollie, a Sanjay, a Nida, a Dasan, or a Sahira and expands the diversity of 3D people being used by artists, it's an extra good one in my books smiley

"Cultures" tend to send conformity messages across the board, but I've found that---to most individual people---beautiful is beautiful, regardless of ethnicity or somatotype. But obliviousness has always been my secret weapon; like the old saying about mind over matter: "If you don't mind, it don't matter." I'm glad you've overcome the lie.

You are just lovely smileyheart And the biggest lie of all, of course, is that it even matters.

So nice of you to say, and the sentiment is mutual, and now we know that the cover matches the contents.

Great addition to the lineup. Very versital. While I love the pirate theme, there is a little SF /Alienesque looking bit

Here are the three pro bundle characters. Jazz, Oceane, and Sahira 8. All "out of the box" except I lowered Jazz's Duel Lobe Specular Reflectivity to .12 and also lowered Sahira's to .50.

One more Tristana, actually the Hydron Suit (midnight stories)... not int he Pro bundle.

And then a Sahira 8 shot with 100% of nothing from the Pro Bundle (LOL).

Space pirates >>>>> Disney pirates :)

Treasure Planet has Disney Space Pirates! (and is one of their best movies IMO).

    Awesome renders yes

Wow! Thanks a lot. You managed to make Oceane look like a real person (which is more than I can do with most of TwiztedMetal's characters). Sahira is sooooo cute! I haven't installed them yet, but I won't be posting any renders here thanks to you guys.

I'm glad Sabby came back to us after FredW stopped (I never heard what happened with him).

I was more commenting on every Pirates of the Caribbean movie (except maybe the first one)... hahaha.

These shots were very simple setups. Orange spotlight off camera so I can create the impression of fire. A little GIMP magic.

I just mainly wanted to see how they'd render and how I could kitbash a Space Pirate. Or a Corsair, in these cases. I have enough good pieces to kitbash this way, and midnight stories' armors are a good base, I think. There are others, though.

    Once more unto the breach...

    Just testing again...

Proof of concept, using RawArt's Lekku2 over Sahira. (Ugh, I had a different suit on but I forgot how much displacement the Lekku skins use. I didn't feel like messing with the Displacement settings, so I just went back to Mercury Ranger...)

Dang. The makeup for Sahira is great. It only applies to the Diffuse overlay layer, and doesn't flock with the other face areas. So you really can apply it to any G8F character with no trouble. (Not every diffuse overlay makeup works like this.) I did not need to do any additional fiddling with Sahira's makeup on the Lekku skin base.

It is interesting all the people complaining about lack of realistic pirate clothing for her......I personally was dissappointed there were no real sexy pirate clothing for her......fantasy shots need plunging necklines and bare midrif

So I guess...to each their own

Well, the good thing is Pretty3D has had a good lock on Sexy pirate wear going back to V4.

The new pirate bundle is looking good. Price is a little steep for me now.Hopefully there will be a banner, coupon or some relief.

In a short span Sahira has probably more morphs than any other bas character besides Vicky8.

Does anyone know what the outfit is in the main promo pic for the Sahira 8 base character? It's also at the top right corner of the sales page. Thanks.

Someone listed it I believe or mentioned it. https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-seven-seas-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

Thanks @memcneil70, but that is the one on the left at the top of the sales page. I am looking for the one on the right and in the main promo pic here - https://www.daz3d.com/sahira-8. I searched the Daz store and the other place, but can't find it.

Oh yes, that one is very nice...I'd be interested to know as well.

So the reason I couldn't find it was that it wasn't released until today https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-emerald-trench-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

As for vendor name changes... I was amazed to learn that Eichorn Art = Fenrissa, who I always adored. Long live Fenrissa! :)

This render is great.  I love the serious expression.  I really get the feeling that she is outside on a ship.  The outfit is also nice @j cade, what is she wearing?  Is it from a male's wardrobe?

What I want to know, what happened to her pants? Did she lose them in a bet? And those high heels are not very practical on a ship. Good looking outfit from the waist up.

The outfit is Contemporary Romeo converted and dforced and with some alternate textures. It dforces pretty well, you just have to use a weight node to keep the area around the belt and laces steady (you could probably get away with just dforcing the sleeves if you're not into weight painting)

I suspect I'll be putting either another pair of pants, or a skirt on over that one. And tweaking the belts to cover any gaps. Does look good from the waist up.

Those heels are a definite nope, though. A pity one can't just go at them with the geometry editor and make them invisivle. The Ruby Siege heels would work on a ship, though.

I just picked her up and wanted to see what she'd look like rendered in Blender, so here's my quick render in cycles with just an HDR map for lighting. I think she looks great!

The focus is a little off I'm seeing now with the picture blown up, but not too shabby for a quick two minutes of setup that I had before having to start something else on my computer.

  • What's wrong with fanservice pirates? Those are better than real pirates IMO. It's all fantasy, anyway, isn't it?

(If I actually liked sea piracy, I'd get that new bundle. I just prefer space pirates.)

    .

    .

The Sahira bundle definitely is lacking in the fanservice department. Even Sparrow's Mage (the fantasy one) is pretty tame.

You have to go outside even the Pro bundle for this kind of look :-(
(IMO, that's not a positive direction for Daz! We need another fanservice bundle!)

I disagree - I think having less revealing clothes to help balance out the more revealing clothing is great. I doubt there will ever be a shortage of revealing clothing being sold. But the same can't be said of non-revealing clothing. The store is full of super low cut tops, short skirts, bare midriffs, etc - practical clothing that isn't revealing is quite a bit rarer than the revealing stuff. I'm very happy when I see stuff that is more "normal" and less "fan service". Don't get me wrong, I love pinup art and "impractical" armor, but their definitely needs to be more of a balance when it comes to less revealing options.

I'm finding that since dForce came out, there are fewer and fewer sexy clothes. All these long length skirts and dresses, long flowing sleeves, clothes meant for women over 60... I find I have to often resort to autofitting old G2 clothes that were actually sexy and tight fitting. There really isn't that much new sexy clothing for G8. I personally don't have a need for non-sexy clothes so I have to look for layers that can be removed. So I'm hoping PAs keep that in mind. Have sexy clothes underneath with layers on top for those who want characters more covered up.... And maybe have different heel sizes, I like high heels on my characters who are fantasy characters anyway because they are not real people on real spaceships or real pirate ships...

I agree for the most part, but try finding a pair of pants or shorts for G8 that sit low on the hips. All the pants seem to be very high-waisted. Not sure what's up with that.
