Eh, not realy.....cesarian sections were performed in Afrika for a long time before that (saving both mother and child) and well Plinius the Elder roumours that Ceaser was born via a Ceaserian and Agripina lived to tell the tale. The first confimed survived ceaserian was don in Prague in 1333.....so glitch or no glitch, women have always suffered a lot more then man (at least in peacetime). Al infor from Wikipedia of course.
Greets.
She's quite pretty and now his & hers pirate clothes.
*sigh*
I like the main character. But I still have swirlies for half the bundle, and one of the addons, and I'm not about to buy anything sight unseen.
Agree with the creebs over the Sparrow Mage set ( which I can see). You do NOT wear spike heels on a wooden ship. You just DON'T. For that mattern I'm not really impressed by the skin-tight pants on three of the sets (I can see the texture add-ons, even if not the main promos). I don't think those are plausible either.
The dress looks more medieval than 17th-18th century. Which is what one tends to think of when one is dealing with pirates -- although ghod knows there were certainly pirates in medieval times as well.
Do definitely like the main character, though.
Also from Wikipedia:
”Caesarean section usually resulted in the death of the mother.[107] It was long considered an extreme measure, performed only when the mother was already dead or considered to be beyond help.”
None of the arguments you people are making challenge the assertion that it would have been uncommon to see a living woman in the 16th-18th centuries with a c-section scar, which is all that was said in the first place.
Here is one of the promos quickly ran with no Sahira.
Uncommon <> Impossible. By the way a pirates live is a risky one at best of times. And pirates survived stab and slash wounds on a regular basis (sort off goes with the territory). BTW Maschine 2 running on a computer running DAZ and I-ray is not a good idea.....Maschine starts to stutter, when DAZ is running and yes I have a pretty beafy computer,
Greets.
She looks like Josephene 8 to me, especially the skin tone and face. I own Josephene so to me its a pass =(
You’re arguing against nobody. Nobody said a c-section scar would have been impossible, just that c-sections weren’t commonplace in the time period this bundle represents. Battle wounds are different from surgical scars that correspond to specific operations. Men have battle wounds too, and they’re certainly not getting c-sections. The danger inherent to living as a pirate has absolutely no bearing on the commonality of c-section operations.
I only recently reinstalled Maschine 2 myself. Time to dust off my Maschine Studio and start dropping some sick beats. I just hope my old projects weren’t all lost in a hard drive crash a while back.
Congratulations, @lana_lass, on being beautiful! You're probably used to it by now though.
Wow, still gorgeous!
I really like her! :D
This is not an "out of the box" render, since I added some post-work (mainly for color and contrast - and added some sand dusting at the bottom).
The upped contrast made her skin look a little rough, but I guess perfectly even skin wouldn't be very pirate-like. lol :P
She's wearing the Sabriel outfit with the texture add-on, the sword is from the Fair Trades outfit, the hat is from the Arrr Pirate Hats. The hair is the Wild Winds hair with the "Head Band Gone" morph applied. And the treasure chest is from Pirate for Genesis 3 Female.
The base looks good. I'm over the Jack Sparrow 'bad day' eyeliner jobs though. Totally overdone. But some people may like it.
It is coming soon but i have no date for this moment.
Sahira 8 does appear to have semi-modern tanlines.
I think I really like the base morph but for me she looks different from image to image. That's great for versatility but not so great when I want to get a true feel for how she looks out of the box. Would anyone be so kind as to post a few simple face shots?
I bought the bundle and part of it was due to Oceane because I had become intrigued by TwitzedMetal's characters and she spoke to me. She has distinct nasolabial folds and a hooked nose. I took the top and pants from the Sabriel outfit, boots from another and found it turned into a modern/sci-fi outfit. The hair was the only dForce item on her. My first render didn't ease those lines, then I tried Visemes, what Novica has recommended for difficult mouths. It is better. Oceane is not 'pretty' or 'cute', but she is 'handsome' and 'commanding'.
By the way, if you are not into pirates and the clothes, consider loading these clothes up item by item, looking at how the piece might be used as a kitbash. I try to do that with any outfit that my initial reaction is 'eck' when it is a bundle. This was not one of those, but I was fascinated by what I saw with the tunic. The texture set has alternative textures as well, including a short morph option. Good value.
@Divamakeup, I love your render. Love her attitude.
Mary
The Arr Pirate Hat texture add-on has bullets with shell casings for a decoration. Some of these products, I want what the PA is drinking.
This one has no post-work so it's "out of the box" Sahira 8 - except I used her Translucency Medium setting.
The HDRI has a green tint to it, so it might have made her skin tinted a tad green. I'm not sure though since a got a new monitor as an early birthday present and one of my monitors shows her skin looking fine, the other shows a slight greenish tint. I don't know which is right. lol I'll have to get a color calibrator. I used to have one but it seems to have disappeared when we moved.
The pants are from the Sparrows Mage Outfit with the texture add-on. The shirt is from the Buccaneeress Pirate Outfit. The High Seas Hair works pretty good for hats - just hide the bandana and add another hat. I really like the Arrr Pirate Hats. They come in a really nice variety.
Not sure how people would have reacted to an outfit with exposed bosoms flopping around merrily, however historical.
There are a few other costumes around in the store that are more along these lines, liiike https://www.daz3d.com/piratess-for-genesis-2-females (which is very, very cheap right now and probably would look fine with a few texture packs and autofitting)..
Thank you, Mary. :) I like the moody lighting you used here.
Thank you. On the latest render you posted, I don't see a green tint, she looks naturally reddish-brown. Although with the background, it would be natural to have a tint. Like that pose also, and kitbash.
Happy Birthday early.
I was actually thinking so looks a lot like a friend of mine, you don't happen to live in France?
Oh good! Now I know which monitor I can trust more for colors. :) Thank you - and thanks for the happy birthday wishes! It's still a couple weeks away, but the hubby decided that life is short so why wait. lol :P
Hmmmm.... a bundle about Pirates that doesn't include a pirate hat in the main bundle. Interesting :P
I guess you need to save something for the add in sections.
I also noticed there do seem to be a few new items added into the Daz Original Freebie section. I actually found something I wanted.
Happy Birthday to @Divamakeup! Nice renders. What does High Seas Hair look like under the hat?
@divamakeup Your renders are making her look great, as well as all the other renders I've seen in this threat. I totally dug the character right away, but seeing what more can be done makes me like her even more. I'm unsure if I can swing a pro bundle right now, but I am for sure going to be picking up the base character in the next day or two!
Anyone know what outfit SASE Jazz is wearing in the promot pictures. That has to be my favorite female pirate outfite. Love the hat, top and poofy sleeves.

this one :) https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/rp-salty-scarlett/140906
Awesome! Thank you so much!
hahah Thank you! :D
The High Seas Hair is definitely meant to be rendered with the scarf or a hat. Without it, the hair cap is highly visible. Here it is with the scarf's cutout opacity at 0 (also Sub D added to the hair):
Here I covered the spot with the bangs from OOT's Mega Updo and then applied the same hair shader to both:
