@divamakeup Your renders are making her look great, as well as all the other renders I've seen in this threat. I totally dug the character right away, but seeing what more can be done makes me like her even more. I'm unsure if I can swing a pro bundle right now, but I am for sure going to be picking up the base character in the next day or two!

Thank you, Bennie. :D I'm enjoying rendering her.

Thank you. On the latest render you posted, I don't see a green tint, she looks naturally reddish-brown. Although with the background, it would be natural to have a tint. Like that pose also, and kitbash.

    Happy Birthday early.

Oh good! Now I know which monitor I can trust more for colors. :) Thank you - and thanks for the happy birthday wishes! It's still a couple weeks away, but the hubby decided that life is short so why wait. lol :P

Happy Birthday to @Divamakeup! Nice renders. What does High Seas Hair look like under the hat?

    hahah Thank you! :D

The High Seas Hair is definitely meant to be rendered with the scarf or a hat. Without it, the hair cap is highly visible. Here it is with the scarf's cutout opacity at 0 (also Sub D added to the hair):

Here I covered the spot with the bangs from OOT's Mega Updo and then applied the same hair shader to both:

Thank you so much, Birthday Gal! I know it's in the future, but so am I. Why couldn't there have been a hairstyle underneath the PlayDoh? I really need a flat center-parted straight hair with the actual scalp showing as an alternative to Georgia Hair.

In your renders I can finally see what she looks like. She's still pretty but she's in her thirties or so, which wasn't clear before. I figured, "Got to be good lookin' cos she's so hard to see."

If you need a flat, center-parted hair with the scalp showing maybe Sorrow Hair? https://www.daz3d.com/sorrow-hair-for-genesis-3-female-s

Or a really old hair which can be scaled and parented. Fabiana's Eternal Kyra comes to mind. The bangs can be hidden.

Don't know how it would take Iray shaders, or it it's dForceable though.

One might consider the Corsairs of the Barbary Coast rather than the Pirates of the Caribbean for Sahira 8?

Sayyida al-Hurra would be the famous Corsair queen in North Africa...

    ...

    EDIT:

And I prefer Spessss Pirates over wet pirates.

I liked the PIrate hat, but Tristana was too nice to pass over this time.

I know folks have expressed distaste with the outfits being impractical...and I'm usually one who wants practicality...but these outfits appear to be of high quality and are ripe for kit-bashing wonderment. They can be used in all sorts of genres, not just limited to pirates. And no butt-floss or boob windows. So win!

So how exactly does the cape on the Fair Tides outfit stay on? It looks like it is clipped or pinned to the front of the shirt. One tug on the cape and it would pull the shirt off her shoulders and rip it down the middle to her navel. Definitely needs a clasp or strap across the neck.

Anyone know what outfit SASE Jazz is wearing in the promot pictures.  That has to be my favorite female pirate outfite.  Love the hat, top and poofy sleeves.

    this one :) https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/rp-salty-scarlett/140906

Yeah... lots of great promo images and virtually nothing actually in the bundle.

  • Lovely render! I too have a soft spot for Space Pirates. :D

    Thanks!

I mainly just wanted to show you could kitbash that Sabriel Tunic onto a suitably space-y outfit. That's probably my favorite piece out of the entire bundle. It's the easiest thing to throw over other outfits, and the assymetrical look is immediately rogue-ish and scoundrel-y.

    ...

The other outfits are less easy to use quickly on other things, IMO. The Sabriel Tunic is a simple old-school conformer with some dials for "skirt" movement at the bottom, so it's quick and simple to use.

Sparrow's Mage isn't chopped up quite as well. The Shirt is cut up between a couple pieces, but you can make it work, I guess.

As for WHY it's with Sahira? Timing, I guess. I think Sparrow's Mage makes for a good Yennefer of Vengerberg outfit (video game, anyway), once you get the Black working with the white undershirt. Probably should be "Swallow's Mage" in that case, not "Sparrow", but I think it's for the Witcher fans rather than a Pirate thing... and of course Yennefer needs high heels!

I thought it was "Sparrow" as a nod to Johnny Depp's character.

Kit bashing is a lot of fun. And I think the dForce Buccaneeress Pirate Outfit might be more kit-bashable then I first thought.

Also, I'm wondering if the Valentino (pirate male) -> Aubrey (Dr Who style female) -> Sahira (pirate female) release pattern means that we're going to get a Time Lord next haha (e.g, male partner to Aubrey)? :D

Hopefully he'll be able to jump in his tardis and take us forward to a time with new "$60 of free DO items" in the Pro Bundle deal cheekywink

As long as he resembles David Tennant.....lol

If anyone gets Tristina would you mind posting her with Sahira dialed out? thanks in advance!!

Here is one of the promos quickly ran with no Sahira.

She is gorgeous but I am too blind to see any difference between this and the main promo.

What % is Sahira in it (it can't be too high) ?

I totally agree. I have never thought of doing anything regarding pirates before, but I'm looking at the outfits and they do look of great quality, and I'm thinking of all the different ways I could use them in other scenes that are more towards what I'm working on.

Last night I saw Sahira 8 on offer for the first time and there was one of those purple banners at the top of the page offering me some sort of discount on Sahira 8 products because I had purchased many G8F bundles in the past. I didn't write it down (not even sure if it was a coupon code), thinking it would be there again in the morning when I had more time to look at the offer, but this morning it is gone, replaced by a new purple banner saying I could save 30% off any of the "Enjoy Micheal 8 for Free" items because I already own Michael 8 Pro. Does anyone know what the Sahira 8 offer was and also if it is still valid? Thanks.

Question about the Wild Waves hair, is it possible to remove the actual braid? I know one can remove the braided headband but unsure about the braid, and I think thath air could be really nice to use as a wild short style :)

It is interesting all the people complaining about lack of realistic pirate clothing for her......I personally was dissappointed there were no real sexy pirate clothing for her......fantasy shots need plunging necklines and bare midrif

So I guess...to each their own

The Braid is a separate Surface, so one could always simply turn the Opacity to 0% and remove it that way.

It might not be the best hair to use from the back in this format. The hair is tucked together in the back to look like the braid logically sprouts out from the bottom of the hair...

I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else here, but I got the fright of my life when I pulled up this promo of Sahira this morning because she looks FREAKISHLY like me, including the hair surprise -- super weird sensation!! Not sure if I like it or not, haha, but I guess it's a positive for the modellers at Daz who are going for realism.

Congratulations, @lana_lass, on being beautiful! You're probably used to it by now though.

blushThank you @xyer0 Well at nearly 30 I've learned to be happy with how I look now, but as a person of Middle Eastern lineage growing up in Western Europe I did not meet the beauty standard at all and certainly received the implied cultural message that my ethnicity was unattractive. To be attractive was to be blonde, fair skinned and with delicate features... and I was the opposite! Silly, but honestly it remains imprinted in my mind no matter how I might look now. I think a great many of us experience this, if not because of their ethnicity then because of being "different" from their culture's idealised concepts in some other way. And that's why whenever Daz releases a Floyd, an Ollie, a Sanjay, a Nida, a Dasan, or a Sahira and expands the diversity of 3D people being used by artists, it's an extra good one in my books smiley

I like the base model, characters and hair, but I am very disappointed with the clothing. With the possible exception of the Fair Tides outfit, none of it looks remotely like anything a woman from that era would have worn, they are basically just fantasy outfits. Sparrow Mage is particularly bad for this, is that Fantasy, or SciFi, as it is certainly not historical. The main reason I got Valentino was for the four outfits, all believable outfits for the period, that could be used for settings other than just pirates, but since I don't do fantasy pin-ups, I have no idea what I could do with the outfits that come in this bundle.

I agree with you that I'd have preferred more outfits on the historical side of fantasy, along these sorts of lines...

    image

Not sure how people would have reacted to an outfit with exposed bosoms flopping around merrily, however historical. laugh

There are a few other costumes around in the store that are more along these lines, liiike https://www.daz3d.com/piratess-for-genesis-2-females (which is very, very cheap right now and probably would look fine with a few texture packs and autofitting)..

OMG I didn't even notice that in the picturesurprise !!!  Well I wouldn't have minded such an outfit but perhaps that's just me and my politics haha ( #freethe...) Apologies if the drawing is an issue re forum guidelines. I promise to have my eyes tested once lockdown is lifted lol.

"Cultures" tend to send conformity messages across the board, but I've found that---to most individual people---beautiful is beautiful, regardless of ethnicity or somatotype. But obliviousness has always been my secret weapon; like the old saying about mind over matter: "If you don't mind, it don't matter." I'm glad you've overcome the lie.
