Hmm, DAZ seems to have really stepped up the pace and is now adding a new G8 Pro bundle every week. I can't afford them all and am glad I skipped Aubry 8 last week because I really like Sahira 8 Pro this week and want to get her. Now if I could just get that gift card I bought two days ago.

Also, I'm wondering if the Valentino (pirate male) -> Aubrey (Dr Who style female) -> Sahira (pirate female) release pattern means that we're going to get a Time Lord next haha (e.g, male partner to Aubrey)? :D

Hopefully he'll be able to jump in his tardis and take us forward to a time with new "$60 of free DO items" in the Pro Bundle deal cheekywink

What do you think of her?

I like the morph and most of the skin, but in the promos it looks like she has a c-section scar. That seems like a rather odd detail for a pirate themed character. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think c-sections were commonplace in the 1600-1800s. I hope there is an option to not have the scar.

C sections date back a very long way - think of the name.

C-sections existed before 1600, but not the scar... because it was done on dead mother to save the baby. The scar you noticed seems to be a texture problem, easily fixable.

    Not neccasarily.

Insta-buy...best pro bundle in a long time. Clothing included. Well done, Daz.

The HD add-on is...useless...that one won't be taking up room in my cart today.

I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else here, but I got the fright of my life when I pulled up this promo of Sahira this morning because she looks FREAKISHLY like me, including the hair surprise -- super weird sensation!! Not sure if I like it or not, haha, but I guess it's a positive for the modellers at Daz who are going for realism.

Anyway, I really like her eye textures and she's a good addition to the DO catalog. I'm not sure why I'm not really in love with the bundle... PA characters aren't really grabbing me, the Wild Waves hair is a little odd looking to me as a style although that's not necessarily a criticism, and the outfits all look very similar to designs already in the store (Sparrow Mage outfit -> Soul Keeper outfit for example) but I think that's probably me being a bit too fussy. It fits well with the Valentino bundle.

Probably the best marketing stuff written by the fellow Daz forum user and I really like her look. Well done.

She seems to have a similar automatic realism factor to Dasan. Malay or Indonesian or South Asian, she can fit them all, and she's pretty, which helps. Clothing looks usable, but I'd rather trade the PC+ hats into the Pro Bundle for one of the 2 expression sets or the pose set. And yay! I get $60 worth of stuff that couldn't even make my wishlist. Glad to see EichhornArts back with a new character.

I refuse to buy another non-HD HD Add-On; it will seem like they've learned, but then they go back.

I totally agree.  I splurged for Valentino 8 HD only to find out how little it actually did.  But I did discover, while playing around, you can start with another HD character and then back all the morphs out except for the HD Details.  I used Edward 8 HD since his facial structure was most like Valentino.  The mouth was a little different, but adding a little Edward back in fixed that.  And the result looked like Valentino 8 but 10 years older.  Much better than his own HD.

I'm really tempted by Sahira.  There are a lot of great add-on characters and the costumes are fantastic (for the most part).  But you'd think they'd release a REALLY AWESOME sailing ship after all the pirate stuff.  I know, there's one available (shhh) on the other site.

It looks like the braid wrapped around the forehead to act as a headband

That's a braid of mysterious origin and destination.  There's an option to hide it.  Personally, I like the hair better without any braids.

I like the character - and I almost never like TwiztedMetal characters - but seriously, why does she look like she’s about to burst into tears in every single promo?

    AARRRRRRRRRR
wading through the same pool again for the "free" items. Its nearly impossible now. I tried to just get the bundle, but it is actually less expensive to get the 4 adds, which none were interesting to me .. however. and then qualify for $60 free stuff ... this should be fun but I suppose I could just skip the free stuff but you never know when something might be useful. The 2 PC+ items really brings the overall cost down .. $45.38 for the bundle and 4 add on products. Its too bad the expressions and poses are basically the same thing over and over as well with every bundle.... so basically 8 items.

Guess I could save a lot by just getting the base character at $15+ change. not much in the bundle really hits me ... none of the characters, nor the clothes. nor the hairs ... Wild hair is at least ..interesting. I'm trying to talk myself into not buying this bundle frown

Love this bundle. Got the pro and just about everything from the add ons. The promos are amazing. Hopefully all the different outfits used will be identified

When pricing it out, it's an exceptional bargain if you have the purple banner. A great character and bundle if you have a sparse inventory but everything is redundant, I already have equivalents that are just fine. However, I want the Arr Pirate Hat and Fair Trades outfit. Those come to $19.51 in my cart. If I add the bundle then I get the complete set (though I don't need a lot of it) and $60 free stuff which I can use, for about $45. So I dunno. I can see it being an easy buy or easy pass depending on need and inventory. I'm just glad for once they didn't gouge on the price which has been the trend of late.

I like the base model, characters and hair, but I am very disappointed with the clothing. With the possible exception of the Fair Tides outfit, none of it looks remotely like anything a woman from that era would have worn, they are basically just fantasy outfits. Sparrow Mage is particularly bad for this, is that Fantasy, or SciFi, as it is certainly not historical. The main reason I got Valentino was for the four outfits, all believable outfits for the period, that could be used for settings other than just pirates, but since I don't do fantasy pin-ups, I have no idea what I could do with the outfits that come in this bundle.

I like her, like a LOT. Promo images are fantastic! I don't particularly need so much pirate stuff, but i like the outfits; maybe inspiration will come to do something interesting.

I got my first purple banner without buying any new bundle since last week, so seems that Daz calculate the cut a couple days in advance. Still, would have loved the benefit was different, 20% requiring coupon is no good for me; i need the coupon space.

About the discounted Pro Packs it would seem  this time is good for me. The 65% ones have mostly ones i alread grabbed for 80% and $60 off during valentino sale. And the 80% has added a few of the ones that were not available at all in previous sales and i wanted.

The $60 off this time, is strange. Combination with 1.99/1.39 sale gives really bad results. So i don't know what i will used it because other than that most other items have very low discounts.

I will wait a couple more days hoping for some other promo to stack here.

  • I'm just sitting here giggling. "Since you own a significant number of Genesis 8 Pro Bundles. . ."

Mm, I suppose you could call owning literally every G8 Pro bundle a significant number, lol.

I love her, love the clothes, and am totally getting her. It looks like there are some new offerings in the free section, too, having been over it literally every pro bundle before this and actually enough things I wanted to make it at least semi-difficult to choose among them.

ARe you able to use the purple banner code in conjunction with the free daz Originals and get the correct amount off or does it still not work?

I must say I like this character - beautiful face, attractive overall and a different bodystyle than we have seen in a while (the last several have featured more 'curvy' / heavy bodies) and all with *actual* HUMAN proportioned breasts!  Wow... a character of a real person!

Unfortunately for me, pirates is not really my 'thing' / fetish - I can number on one hand the number of pirate themed artworks I have done over the decades, so I think I am going to have to pass on the bundle.  Probably pick up the character alone later.

I will say that it is great to see at least ONE outfit with usable footwear!  Can you *imagine* trying to walk on a wooden (plank) deck of a ship - much less SAND surprise - in those spike heels of the 'Mage' set?!?!  If she didn't fall every few steps as the ship rolled with the sea she would stick a heel in the wood or between planks and fall... for me, it just is stupid and stupid isn't sexy (which I am assuming they are going for).

And there in we find the difficulty of the pirate theme for female characters! There absolutely WERE female pirates, but extremely few... in fact, there were few women AT ALL on the islands of Tortuga, etc., during the golden age of piracy. This is why you'll find many academic papers on Jstor and books out there specifically on the topic of homosexuality as part of the 18th century pirate way of life. So, that gives us few reference points for what a female pirate like Anne Boney would have worn at this time and other than that women would have just worn outfits typical of the period (which I would have LOVED, but others might have found boring, I dunno). So, artistic license and fantasy ARE sort of required... but having said all of that, I agree with you that I'd have preferred more outfits on the historical side of fantasy, along these sorts of lines...

But if you have Valentino, you can also autofit items from that bundle onto G8 F for that look I guess smiley

I’d love to have seen a Ching Shih outfit.

I would buy her instantly even have a ship ready for her......the Vivacia to be precise.....after a new skin and some hight adjustments she would make a fine Althea Vestrit or even a great Etta....stern modeled after the French comic of the Live ship traders, stern after the not so loveship Batavia and yes, with a rigged figurehead I can't show here, if you have read the Realm of the Elderlings you will know why, if you have not, what are you waiting for!

19th century ( 1800 onward), piracy was widely abolished by then.

In any case is most likely a play of lights, since there is no scar whatsoever on the model. :)
