@Galaxy Hey, take a quick look at my recent post asking about the same thing... It might get you all the way there, or you could even ask any questions there and maybe others doing the same will find the convo...

I am currently following the thread linke provided by phatmartino https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/407716/changing-content-location-in-2020#latest

My query is how to move C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library this folder to a folder of D drive. I installed those contents from Daz Store and via DIM. At the time of install I checked 'Delete package once installed' option.

The main issue would be that DIM would still be pointing to the old location, I'm not sure whather the Reinstall usign current location works if there's no zip (and I assume you don't want to redownload) - it might be worth trying with one product: set up the new location in DIM, right-click on a product in the Installed tab, and choose the command to reinstall it.

The DIM ManifestFiles folder holds the information on where each package was installed.  You can use Notepad++ or a similar editor that can handle multiple files and edit the following line in all of the files in that folder:

    <UserInstallPath VALUE=" C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library"/>

to the new location (note that forward slashes are used instead of back slashes).

Then DIM will treat those products as if they were installed to the new location-

@Galaxy Just in case you hadn't gotten things worked out, or if anyone esle is in the same situation wanting to move your Content Library to a different drive on a Windows 10 machine and having used DIM to install and Delete Downloads is interested, I edited the Post I linked here before to be a little more of a tutorial on how to do it in pretty laboriously explained steps assuming nothing about how familiar anyone might be with the steps involved...

Maybe I'm being simplistic. I'd just use DIM to unintall the content from the C drive and reinstall on the D Drive. Of course I've always installed my DAZ content on a separate external drive.

^ That's of course an option... I personally was looking into it because I have tons of PSDs I created myself that resided in those Default folders along with Textures and such... Not to mention tons of manual installs from Rendo and freebies I had put in those default locations. Poor planning that started long before I knew any better. Seemed more reasonable to try and move it all together...

I did this last year, it all went surprisingly smoothly. See this thread:

This post is assuming you have a basic underatanding of the file management system in windows and DAZ3d.  If you don't, get someone to help you.

A s Chris said, you can move your entire daz3d library into another directory all at once and make it work with manual installs.  This is a workaround that I've been using for years when I was I decided to move the library after having almost 3,000 files in it. (Now that I look back, that was such a small amount)surprise There are a couple of extra steps to installing new content, but it works, and it will still track your downloaded and installed files.

P.S. My preferred install method is manual, so this might work with auto installs, but I've never tried it.

    • COPY your Daz library files into the new directory.  DON'T CUT AND PASTE until you get everything working!
    • Change the DAZ install manager to manual install and point the installs to the new directory.  Keep your DAZ install manager downloads pointed to the OLD directory.
    • Change the DAZ Studio program to point to the new directory.  Make sure you can get all files to load properly into DAZ studio.
    • When working, delete your content files in the old content directory but keep the old directory.
    • DIM will now download files to the old directory, but install them to the new one with manual install.
    • You will need to periodically move the files from the old directory to another directory for storage.

This worked for me.  Maybe I did something miraculously wrong, but it's the system I use and I never have had to reinstall anything.
