Ok, I made this up on the fly, to see if i could get certain textures and shaders to render out and have that comic book "feel".

I think it worked out pretty well!
    Really looked like it's inked.
    What shaders did you use?
And what software did you use for the text balloons?

I have been trying to use really flat or dull plastic type of shaders, except in this case i was playing with camo.
Then into photoshop to dial a couple things up or down....light, contrast, polarize.
a few lines were added by hand with the mouse ( I was trying to stay away from using the wacom tablet.)

for word balloons I have these pre-made as .jpg or .png and cut and drag in photoshop then stroke them with an outline color.
you really dont need that many styles of balloons as you can morph them into what ever shape you want.

    It worked out pretty well.
Nice to see that you don't need lots of tools.
Art is in the hand of the artist!

Comics are my first love, 3D second.
I normally dont do Comics in this manner.
But If I can get DAZ to do 90% of the work before Photoshop, It makes it a funner experience.

I'm still having trouble with Cameras and Lighting, Its really starting to aggravate me.

Heres another one, Mostly DAZ with a sprinkle of Photoshop.

That's a terrific style, very vivid without breaking out of "Comic book" territory into "3D render."

Thanks for the comments guys, I guess that means I'm on the right track.

This next example is how I normally do it. scene built in DAZ exported without textures, Field of view, Frames and lights and shadows in another program. Then......Imported into Photoshop ......sometimes Illustrator ....whew!

I think you've hit the sweet spot in "comicbook" style with your colorization and inking technique. A little tutorial on your ps dial spins would be very welcomed. The art looks good!

This one has a crosshatch brush and a watercolor brush added to give it a grungy dirty look.

This really works VERY well on full renders as well. As noted play a little bit with each render. It's very cool.

Here is a picture of a building to show what you can do with architecture.

I have plenty of other tips and tricks, if you need help or have a question just ask.

I'm loving what this does but I would not wish to copy your style fully just out of respect. A little tweeking on my on from this base and I'm sure everyone can come up with good average settings they like. Again I thank you for the Mini Tut.

Really cool work. I'm also a comics guy myself, so I appreciate the eternal struggle of getting good looking comics out of a 3D program. Very impressive!

I'm a published graphic novelist (even recently nominated for an award), and I use Poser Pro for all my comics. There's a huge range of looks you can achieve with this software.

    Here are some examples.

The black and white ones are just the cartoon preview mode, filtered a little in post.
The colour ones are Firefly renders with sketch renders layered over them.

ZOOM went right by and I never noticed... but then I'm a very bad speller myself. I mostly type stuff into Word and check it before I use text now. That is not much help when I just use the WRONG word spelled correctly but...
