Are there any tutorials on how to create anatomical element mats for creature creator for G2M?

I'm sure there are some tutorials out there for how to do this in Photoshop, but I can't seem to find any. I'm using Creature Creator for G2M to make a Satyr type creature. The top of body is human, hips and down are fur covered. I have it almost done, but can't figure out how to get the anatomical elements to match up.

I've tried copying fur surface settings from the leg/hip area to the hip area of the anatomical element, and it shows that it is there in the in the surface tab, but it still renders as clay/gray when I render in 3Delight. Its like some weird thing is happening where it ignores my surface settings for the anat. elements and the legs override it. So then tried to hide the hip area of the anatomical element, turning opacity to 0% but it still shows up in the render as gray. I don't understand whats going on, I"m sure there is a simple solution but I'm not finding it.

There is a product called Texture Exchanger for G8M Gens over at Renderotica, it involves a script that takes the torso images of the character, and from those it spits out a generated set of images for where for the gens meet the relevant part of the torso, though you still have to do some image editting to merge it in with the rest of the genmat images.  It comes with a PDF of the process to follow.  The instructions in the PDF are sufficient but are not take-you-by-the-hand, and you have to do some donkeywork yourself in the image editor of choice (it mentions Photoshop, but I've used GIMP and Paint.net to do it), and part of the process involves overlaying the images this product makes (the part where the gens geograft meets the torso) over the top of one of the existing genmats (say, the genmats from Michael 8), to form the mats for rest of the member, and then adjust the color and shade of that part to match.
