Thanks for sharing that. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Cleveland Ohio.

One day I hope to see Carl Orff's  complete Carmina Burana performed live (Especially with dancers).

Not exactly a traditional orchestra, but enjoy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJNp5UKRtbQ

Yeah, I love  flash mob orchestras.  I'd love to run into one some day.  I think they go over better in Europe.  In the US, I'm afraid that the only classical music that would be widely recognized would be "Pomp & Circumstance", (by those who actually graduated some school), and the old folks (especially the men) would recognize the William Tell Overture (1950s "Lone Ranger" TV theme).frown

I'm very fortunate.  Despite living in the backwoods area of NY State (way south of Buffalo) I have access (20 miles) to the Chautauqua Institute https://chq.org/ for summer cultural events such as lectures, classes, art museums, operas, and symphonies for a reasonable price.yes

Of course the typical audience on the Chautauqua campus look like school of haggard salmon at the end of their run, and the only people under 30 are the music students and the grandchildren dragged there against their will for a week of exposure to culture and some Victorian style living at exhorbitant cost ($$$$).  Wonderful place for music though if you just come for an evening's performance ($45).  And after talking with other ancient salmon in the audience one realizes that they've all been able to escape to sophisticated parts of the world during their lifetimes and only returned here after retirement (like me) because of the easy (& cheap) country living in the beautiful woods and hills & lakes of upstate NY.smiley  The only thing missing at the end of this salmon run is the wild orgy of egg laying and silt spreading.  Although, some of them have a strange gleam in their eye.surprise

I have to go to BJ's today.  I tried free delivery.  The instacart didn't have some things I wanted, and wouldn't recognize the automatic coupon for something.  Then, when I tried to check out, it said that all of their shoppers are busy for today.  9:30 am and they were already too busy?  Then I tried pickup today, and it wouldn't take any of the frozen foods I was trying to buy.  So, despite all the moaning about stay at home...I have to go out to shop!

I'm sure Mistiarra was being facetious, but it's scary that so many times people aren't...
There's some dude who's been in the news a lot these past couple of years, who not too long ago claimed that the Continental Army "stormed the airports" and "manned the air" during the revolutionary war... (remember William Prescott and the Battle of Logan Airport, right?)... I believe he also mentioned they "Rammed the ramparts"... which is frickin' hilarious in a totally not hilarious way.

It would be funny if I was referring to Homer Simpson, but sadly I'm not.

I joke about history a lot and love twisting it up, mixing nonsense with facts... when my daughters were much younger I used to make history fun that way, but they got the idea and could tell the ridiculous from the real, but lately I look at the world and it's scary how many people know nothing about history... even a few years back.

Well, I'm almost exactly the same age as Prince Charles.  And "younger generations" are anybody who doesn't know who the Beatles were (by name). cheeky (Ricky, Jeremy, Peter & Gary, right?)devil  (and now you're all Googling or frantically scanning your brains and ticking them off on your fingers).

I knew that Mystiarra was old enough to remember Watergate, but my statement was intended to be a comedic but generically sad commentary on the lack of importance of history taught and/or learned in today's world.  When one is old enough to be history, then history isn't so trivial anymore.  The connections and evolution of events way earlier than one's birth make sense and have value and consequences.

I went last week and it was pretty terrible... I did get a package of 12 rolls of TP... one of three remaining packages... I had to slay the Manticore guarding it, but at this point that's actually not so bad a deal...

Its weird going in there and seeing big empty aisles with nothing on the shelves... after hurricane Sandy it wasn't even that bad.

What I'm not getting is everyone seems to be ordering out... so why the hell did these people buy out all the fresh and frozen foods...?

Empty shelves?!  I saw in some areas even the shelves were gone, just the frames were left!  That really looked odd!

I got everything on my list except Jif peanut butter.  Wiped out.  I didn't even see a slot for it.  Plenty of Skippy, though.  I like Jif.

Thumbs up for Jif peanut butter.yes  Creamy of course.  I'm down to my last jar.  It's Tuesday, time to toddle up to the local town's little store and check out the situation.  Need bread, milk, apples, bananas, Kleenex, peanut butter, eggs, crackers(saltines), bagged salad, gravy and Olivio(olive oil butter) and TP but only if they have a good supply.  Brother dropped by yesterday and measured the mailbox post so he could make an add-on for a 2nd mail box so that I won't have to walk up the hill to the post-office anymore. Yay!smiley  Legally, the landlord should have done it but after a year of requesting, all I got from him was the still-in-the-box mailbox, yesterday.frown

Sister-in-law dropped by yesterday too and left a small container of homemade beef stew and a small loaf of homemade banana bread.yes  I'd recently upgraded their old laptop with double the RAM and replaced the HD with an SSD but only charged them 50% of parts cost.  They paid me full cost for parts.  Wheee, I've got cash again.  My brother and I seem to have an ongoing war of undercharging for work we do for each other.  Not a bad situation.smiley  He'd made a wonderful, large, custom shaped, 3/4 inch thick, wooden, hard finished, chair pad for my lab desk/office/workbench.  He also bead-blasted an antique copper plated metal bookend of a buffalo that I've had for years but covered with gritty corrosion of some sort.  Most of the smooth coppery layer was still intact when he was done.  Very happy with it.    We each have different tool sets & workshop/lab areas, and experience.  I've always admired that he can manipulate wood and metal matter and build it into big things, but I complete the circle with technical research, super tiny parts manipulations, electrons, and computer repairs & upgrades.

This Tuesday we will participate in a pilot program on Thermal Monitoring. In short, we will be providing a third party provider to measure our temperature before entering the building. At present, this will be done on a volunteer basis. However,  I see this as a great opportunity to further enhance our comfort and security by measuring our temperatures before entering the building. I hope that all will participate, particularly as we learn more about asymptomatic viral carriers.

I like that formal look too... that's why I keep a white cotton glove in my jacket top pocket...

It looks fancy sticking out and I use it to blow my nose... it used to be one of those fancy white gloves that you use to touch fancy stuf that fancy people don't want fingerprints on... well, it used to be white.
Now... not so much... but it's still in the range of white... or maybe a warm grey...

Handkerchiefs are great and all, but you have to unfold them and you only get one... with the gloves you can use it for other stuff too and you get a pair.

I've noticed also that if you don't wash it for a really long time, eventually it actually becomes flame retardant... which is opposite of what I would have believed would occur.

I'm back from my toddle off to the grocery store.  Picked up two full bags (reuseable personal cloth-like bags that you have to pay 72 cents each for.  No more plastic bags in NY State.) of things on my list.  I did find my special dark whole wheat, sweet, thickly sliced, moist, "Dutch Country" bread but there were only a few loaves and this was not the once a month week where they were priced two-for-one, but in desperation I threw frugality and neighborly sharing to the wind and picked up two loaves at full price.  They freeze well.  I'd have gotten more but I didn't want to be a total pig, and besides my refrigerator's small freezer is full of chicken breasts, ham, hamburg, shrimp, frozen pizza slices, and TV dinners.  Hmmm, new item on bucket list..., bigger freezer.

The situation in the store was pretty much normal except that only oddball types of off-brand individually wrapped rolls of TP were available and only perhaps a couple dozen of them.  I bought only one roll.  I did find real Kleenex and in a medium sized box instead of the shallow boxes they usually carried.  I really want the BIG boxes but they stopped carrying them a few months ago when the store was bought out by a different franchise.  Much better price per sheet in the bigger boxes.  But beggers can't be choosers.  I bought just one box.  Surprisingly, paper towels were very low.  Bread was available but had been thoroughly picked through and was low on most brands.   But fruit, vegetables, meats, dairy, and canned goods were all in good stock, as were fresh pastries, and deli-meats, and fresh potato salad & coleslaw type offerings.  Most store personel were wearing masks but most customers were not although they maintained respectful distances.  Yes, I washed my hands immediately after unbagging my groceries.

Oh, and my prize find of the day?  I found a single bag of Utz' "Wavy" potato chips(crisps) my favorite type because the big ripples make the chip more resistant to breakage.  I HATE getting to the last 1/3rd of a bag of chips and finding potato sand.

Same thing with popcorn in the movie theater.  I watch in horror as the 15 year old bored concession person whacks the overflowing bag of popcorn trying to force it down into the bag to fit more in, thinking it's a favor to me.  NO, it ISN"T.  I like popcorn kernals, not popcorn grit. angry  It's so highly priced as it is, throwing away the last 1/3rd of the bag does not make me happy.crying

Just finished watching a movie called the Kid who would be King.  I forgot to look up who was acting in it.  The opening dialogue sounded like it could be spoken by Patrick Stewart.  I could picture Patrick Stewart saying those lines.  I looked it up to see if Patrick was in the movie and found out that he was and it was his voice that opened the movie.  Patrick Stewart is such a good actor I think.  I have thought of something he cannot act as, and that is a young man.  Maybe a long time ago but not now.  He did a good job in the Kid who would be King, but they had to find another actor to play the younger version of that character.

was a long day of work from home.  i set my alarm for 9am.  got up. made a k cup.  logged in. filled out my time card for today.
sent a couple emails about calibration lists.
sent a few more emails saying they should replace the 20 year old flukes with brand new Flukes.  Fluke 77, 79, 85. dunno what to suggest as replacements.  saw an 88v.  the 85 is to calibrate the convex 806 transamission test set.

dunno who i work for, they merged.  stock is still tumbling taking my retirement with it.
