Hi -

How do I make the lady in the picture look properly wet. Maybe not everywhere but where appropriate for each scene?

Thanks

Wet and Tanned Skins for the figure, maybe Iray WetWorx for the outfit, and Linday and outoftouch have a few wet hair options.

  • I'm not sure about the hair as I've never messed with trying to make hair "wet" beyond throwing a geoshell on it and applying a water shader to it. I think something like that needs to be specifically made for that purpose as there are a few hair products sold as "wet hair". Some hair styles you can get away with just messing with the surface settings and such while others would pretty much require redoing the whole product itself.

For things such as skin and clothing, I'm sure there are many ways to do this, but for me, geoshells & cutout opacity maps. In the below render, I used 2 geoshells on the character for the legs & torso. The first one I copied & pasted the character skin to it and applied appropriate cutout opacity maps along with making surface setting adjustments to the applied skin of the geoshell. On the second geoshell, I applied a thin-water shader and used the same cutout opacity maps. Just don't make the same mistake that I did and use such a large gradient space to evenly go from 0 0 0(where you don't want wetness to show) to 255 255 255. You want the transition more dramatic and uneven with wet spots appearing here & there on the dry portions of the skin. The way that I did it ended up yielding an unwanted darker band appearing between the wet & dry portions of the skin.

For some clothing, its just a matter of reducing the opacity, while for others(that do not necessarily become less opaque when wet) you have to tinker with the surface settings more.

You just introduced me to something new. Now that I looked up a geoshell and have an understanding of what it is, What material is used ot make it look wet?

    The attached pic is amazing.

    Thanks

Two of my favorites are https://www.daz3d.com/iray-wet--dry-fabrics and https://www.daz3d.com/short-wet-hair-for-genesis-8-male-s-and-female-s   You can apply the geoshell to make her wet, appy the wet hair shaders for her hair, and use the wet shaders on her clothes with the warning that wet clothing is translucent.
