Stella HD uses Victoria 6 UV Set.

But you're right though, it renders well... http://fav.me/d74r1gg

is it all over for V4 as far as the Daz store?

is it time for a fade away party for poor old V4 in her temple?

Hardly all over for V4. Just in the new section I can find a makeup resource, 3 jewelry sets, 10 characters sets, one of which comes with a hair as well, another 4 hairs, one clothing set and a 2nd skin, all of which are either specifically for V4 or have V4 downloads as well as Genesis.

So it may not be as many as you would like, but DAZ 3D are still releasing things for V4.

Well Lela was recently released as a V4 and G2F character. Apparently Gen X2 will be released in a few days. This will allow PAs to create a V4 characters and easily create the same morph in G2F. We may be seeing more V4/G2F characters.

Stella, however, is an HD character. If PAs start producing a lot of HD characters for G2F, we will not be seeing V4 versions of them.

there was a hi res skin for V4 in the Cararra. can't remember if it was the purple bikini one.

i'm interested in HD for V4/M4. if it's not tooooo expensive. :)

would Stella HD work on G2F without buying the V6?

Well, the textures certainly wouldn't and the morphs may be built off V6 morphs, so it might not look as intended if you didn't own Victoria 6. In short, no.

While it might be possible to use the HD technology with V4, I'd imagine it's not a very high priority for PA's at the moment. I'd argue that the people who use V4 most are largely Poser users which won't have access to the HD tech provided by Daz Studio. I could be wrong in my assumptions, but so far all of the HD add-ons and items have been Genesis 2 centered. I highly expect it to stay that way... at least until Genesis 3 ;)

HD won't work for Gen4 characters. And HD is available to Poser users through the DSON importer; the subdivision level would have to be set before rendering though.

oh HD is the subdivision? I thought it meant the photos textures haz a lot of mega pixels.

    pp14 has subdivision, but i'm on pp12.

i'm still learning the shade mixer and cameras and lights, i'm not ready to start spending big bucks on DS content.
taking a detour into Blender atmo, DS practice for later.

i liked the Stella look. :) and that promo pic from necklaces.

HD works in poser 2012 as well. It uses the subdivision provided by the importer.

Theoretically it should be able to work, but since Gen4 doesn't have subdivision applied, by default, and it would have to be added...the work involved probably isn't going to happen.

    I didn't say supported...

From what little has trickled out about what HD actually is, it SHOULD be able to work on ANY subdividable mesh object. Whether or not it can...now that's a different story. But it was alluded to, in some of the other HD threads that the possibility of it working on more than Genesis 2 does exist.

It should, and as far I know does, work with any TriAx figure. Victoria 4 isn't a TriAx figure, it's a legacy rigging figure, and as such it doesn't support HD morphs. On the other hand, V4 doesn't have multiple UV sets so one of the reasons for wanting to use HD morphs instead of displacement doesn't apply (though others still do).

Then that's the programming decision in DS to restrict it from non-TriAX figures...it shouldn't even need to be rigged, just subdividable (but what use is there in making morphs for something that doesn't have any rigging). Rigging and mesh are separate things, even in TriAX figures, and as far as I can glean, HD morphing operates on the mesh...there are no sculpting tools within DS, so the morphs have to be made in an external program...and as we know, TriAX rigging doesn't matter to things like Z-brush.

Actually I think I misstated - it may well work on props saves as assets, so it's DSON items rather than TriAx figures that are key.

HD works on anything saved in Triax weightmapping/riggging as that can be manipulated from the DSON spec. Legacy rigging/characters most likely doesn't have everything DS needs for it to work with HD, which is why it's not supported.
