...there used to be bus service operated by a local service (not Running Dog) that left Portland at 06:30 and arrived at Seaside/Cannon Beach at around 08:00 The return trip left at 20:00 and arrived back in Portland at 21:30.  cost aw around 24$ but there was a 6 trip discount pass you could buy that dropped the price down to 18$ or so. I used to make the trip every weekend when the weather was good to fly kites there and practise for the sport kite competitions.

For awhile there was nothing except a shuttle service from the Coast to the Portland Amtrak station but the schedules were very inconvenient as they were set up for people coming form there to here to connect to trains  so you really couldn't get more than an hour or two of time before having to return and the fares were much more expensive (45" - 60$).

I noticed that apparently Running Dog recently picked up the route and has a couple buses a day each way for 17$ one way (16$ senior) allowing about 7 hours of time there. (leaves Portland at about 09:30 and departs Seaside for the return trip at around 18:30.

I took a walk. I forgot to was only Wednesday.  I pretty much only missed two days so far of walking.  It has not been a week since my grandmother died.  I feel like I am loosing track of time.

Also I did the factory reset of my computer only a few days ago.  I think.  Need to find out so if that is true, I am ahead of schedule for computer work.  I got adobe installed.  I got DS and Carrara installed,  photoshop cs6 is installed.  I think I still need to install blender and Poser.

I forgot to reset up my wireless mouse.

Weather Complaint:  For the last week, the weather outside has been delightful.  like a spring day in early April.  I toddled up to the store yesterday but didn't have the energy to go to the post office too.  My grocery list was almost more than I could carry so I left out the milk.  I look out the window tonight and it's raining hard and the Fahrenheits are falling so I check on the weather for tomorrow.  Urk! surprise https://www.google.org/publicalerts/alert?aid=52d2b0a859411da9&hl=en&gl=US&source=wweather  February is finally deciding to be Februrary.  And I need to get to the post office to pick up two packages that will arive there tomorrow afternoon.  And I need milk.  And I need to get into the city for a bloodtest.  Boogers! frown  Should have been watching the weather reports. sad

...ugh almost 02:00 and still awake because of a dog that is barking, yelping, howling, and whining (which began after 23:00) as someone in a flat further down on the same floor apparently locked it out on the balcony and left for the night. This has occurred several times now, usually late at night and into the early morning hours but tonight is the worst as it began shortly after 23:00 just before I was about to turn in for the night. I already reported it to management once. Tonight, finally having enough of not being able to get to sleep I called building security to look into the matter (as management advised me to do if it happened again). but apparently the owner (or owners) are not home as the dog is still out there yapping and howling away loudly even after security came up to check the situation out.

Even though my windows are closed and the blinds drawn it sounds almost as if it is right outside my flat as it's barking is echoing off the other building across the street.

There is supposed to be a 22:00 noise curfew as there a lot of older residents living here. This only began a couple months ago.

Apologies for all the edits as am very tired a little angry, and a bit frustrated  I should have been asleep hours ago.

  • Continuing Weather Complaint:  Ugh, woke up this morning to the cotton-like silence of a heavy snowfall onto deep snow, and even the cars are silent because the road is covered.  I have not actually heard a car go by all morning.  I did hear the garbage truck and the state snowplow but the usual whoosh or whine of car tires on the road is absent.  There's an average of about 6 or 7 inches out there now, blowing sideways.  My porch is just as thick as the ground.  Fahrenheits are about 23.  Snowfall is so thick that I can't see up the road into the downtown area (two blocks).  There is more snow coming all day today and into tomorrow night.  Then sun on Sunday (how appropriatesurprise), then three days of rain, then a day or two of freezing rain/snow.  Problem is, I have to get into the city for a blood test before March 4th and I hate to bother friends or relatives for a ride because most of them are retired too and really don't like digging their car out and driving in bad weather if they don't have to..  It's times like this that I miss Florida.frown

Non-complaint:  It's been a while since I've pointed out music to DAZ by, but woke up this morning to the radio playing this: An oft forgotten New Orlean's born American composer of the mid 1800s  Louis Moreau Gottschalk.  Very distinctive style, very ahead of his time.  This particular piece is the 2nd movement of his two movement symphony "Night In The Tropics"  which could be the background music of every 1940s movie nightclub scene.

Louis Moreau Gottschalk:  Symphony #1 ("Night In The Tropics")  2nd movement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJs3gO6BX9A

More of Gottschalk's more famous pieces are these head bobbing and foot tapping masterpieces:

    L.M. Gottschalk:  "The Banjo"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4IePoaUoAI

And of course no mention of Gottschalk can ignore his "Grand Tarantella"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBZhCki-UOg

..ugh going on only about five an a half hours of sleep as I got up around 9 after that dog kept barking an howling until nearly 03:30.   Guess the owners finally came home, (or was so exhausted after barking for almost 4 hours straight) as it finally stopped, but I was too tired and a bit angry at having been kept up so late (early).  Better to go through proper channels.

More coffee is in order, heading to the cafe down the street as I have a coupie for 2$ off.  Maybe I'll get a quad Americano.  Would take a nap but it's a really nice day (low 60s) before a week of soggy weather settles back in and I would like to get outside for a few hours..

  • Yep, there's me just inside NY State right in the middle of that pickle shapped swathe from Cleveland to Buffalo.  Still snowing since yesterday but quietly.  Only about 4 or 5 inches since I swept off my porch yesterday.  More expected through tonight.  Considered calling up the one and only pizza place around here that delivers this far out and stiffing them on the tip. devil

...hmm a rare miscue on the forecast for today in a positive way, 62° and sunny for the rest of the day with the soggy stuff still off the coast, most of which seems aimed at Washington State to the north.

    ...this one I take it:

    https://www.daz3d.com/harpsichord

I have it and all the keys are rigged.Quite a bargain for the price.  Looks good in Iray as well.

Agh, learned that the was a 50% off sale on PC+ membership, but you had to already have an active membership to get it.  Bugger.

However, purchased a quarterly membership for 16.80$ as oddly the 30% Single Item 20th Anniversary PC coupon code worked. can always add an annual membership to that.
