When you need some vehicles ...
Does anyone have some grand wizadry for getting a number of different looking cars into a scene—and I mean without it causing blue smoke to start coming out of the computer.
For instance, if you need a scene like a used car lot, or a drive-in theater, or even a decent-sized city street, and you don't want it to look like a ghost town, how to get a reasonable number of vehicles into the scene without an overload on computing resources? I have a number of different 3D vehicles (and would buy more), but they can add up quickly in terms of processor demand. I don't see any practical way to use instances.
Are there any low-poly vehicle products that can work for this? I haven't been able to locate any so far. Any tips are welcomed.

I'm fairly certain I've seen others, but this is what the search brought up quickly.
Thanks for that tip. I have Scene Optimizer, so will see what the relative merits are of Decimator compared to that. Meanwhile, I would much rather find an out-of-the-box solution if that's possible.
And on that subject, I no sooner had posted about my plight than I tripped across this:
Night and Day City for Daz Studio
Amazingly, it includes:
At the price that's currently going for, I think that will solve my immediate problem. Wide open to other products and ideas, though!
Edit to add: I think the creator of that package, PhilW, could do well to expand that collection of low-poly vehicles and package it as such.
May I also suggest to the above if you are going for a general city street or highway:

Motorcycles should be included, but the ones I have bought seem to be one version, not various ones.
Same for bicycles, if you have bike lanes on a city street or neighborhood.
And to treat surfaces to help your rendering:

Another option is, if the cars are far away enough, and the lighting is consistent, you can use bill-boards. So pre-render the car in the chosen position in your scene with no background (and your alpha layer), then you can place that car as a simple plane + car billboard texture.
Same principle as this product for crowds : https://www.daz3d.com/insta-crowd-billboards
You can get lots of low poly assests from games thesedays, even if you don't have the game you can get 'mods' for the game you can use, from modding sites.
The obvious game for cars is GTA, and having a look, there is a silly ammount of 'mods' you could use on modding sites. (GTA cars have 2 LOD models)
First, thanks to all for the replies and suggestions.
To codex:
Welllllll, okay—except I have zero idea of what "mods" are, or what "LOD models" are, or where to find them, or how to get them into DAZ Studio even if I did find them. Is there some information resource you can direct me to about all of that?
Stonemason has a few low poly cars in his sets too
also Carrara has a lot included that obj export well
I have some from Renderosity and ShareCG too
Some/Most games have 'modding' communities, which are modifications to the original models, textures, and such, and are called mods. Almost the entire Daz asset store can be considered 'mod's of the original genesis models and textures. LOD is 'Level Of Detail', so a car in GTA has 2, a low detail one for far away, and a high detail one for close up. Usually a 'mod' is a direct model replacement for an in game model (but usually without the rigging). There are lots of free converter tools to get them into daz, such as noesis or znaLara, you need to convert them to .obj and the textures to .jpg or .png.
.obj has, over the years, become the universal import/export 3D format for polygon models with texture information, so almost everything supports it.
So lets start simple, you either need some pre built daz assests or .obj models, and manually set the textures in daz.

Thanks for your comprehensive explanation, and for the link and tips.
