I just read an article about Starbucks. It involves Starbucks mobile payment app, and passwords stored in clear text on the user's phone. Really? In this day and age, they are storing passwords in clear text? On the user's phone? How many phones are stolen every day? The author used easily found software to read the raw data on the phone, which is accessible without using the PIN. OK, so what? The thief can order coffee and stuff at Starbucks on your dime. Well, unfortunately, many people today still re-use passwords. If they use the same one for their banking...that is now compromised. Read about it here if you like.
In other news, Amazon Web Services, Google and GoDaddy, all cloud services, are the world's largest hosts of malware! read this.

Most of what they have is for is able bodied industrial/warehouse positions, data entry with a minimum of 10,000KS/H and 100% accuracy (with the loss of dexterity I'm at about half that at best) or are "pretty face" receptionist positions. Not being able to drive also limits what they can offer.
Checked the link but they seem to be a professional placement service for engineers senior executives and advanced IT/IS technicians which are way beyond my level of experience or training. I'm basically a common "office schlep" with a lot of years in the occupation.
Many of the jobs here are in areas I have no expertise or training in (like lots of Medical and Nursing stuff that require extra training and certification) or again have a major physical component I can no longer manage, For example I know shipping and receiving, but to do so I have to be able to lift 50# or more on a regular basis. I know how to use Excel but don't have a degree and licence in accounting and/or have zero experience in payroll (which a lot of these positions call for). For most Admin Assistant positions there is often a "Meet and Greet"/front desk component - basically making them another "pretty face" job for a woman in her 20s - 30s.
As to Beaverton, that was the part of town where I used to work. Once you leave the light rail station out there, bus service is a joke and is why I had to endure over four to nearly five hours a day on transit because of the multiple connections required and poor scheduling. Taking A cab to there would be about 40 - 50$ one way (sans tip) as taxis are very expensive here (for me that was nearly a half day's pay). Not bikeable from where I am because of the West Hills which have long 5 - 6% grades that would challenge even a "juiced up" Tour de France cyclist. Beaverton and the rest of Washington County is basically "Car Country" where pedestrians and bikes are an afterthought. There are many places without sidewalks let alone bike lanes or even room to ride a bike and stay out of the way of speeding traffic. It looks and feels a lot more more like LA in many places with strip malls, wide streets that have heavy fast moving traffic, and drivers who don't care about anyone else but themselves. the only thing missing are the transplanted palm trees.
Yeah lots of nice things in the store, Zev0's store on sale too. So far this month all I could afford were the PC and weekly freebies as well as one nice Daz Original dress for Leela I got with my PC Coupon. Only one more month for that and any savings as my PC membership expires in late February.

...at Starbucks prices that could still run up a sizeable bill. 4.50$+ for a Mocha, 5.95$ for a cold sanny, 12 - 15$ for a pound of coffee beans, a 50$ gift card? Shoot they could probably even get a 250$ espresso maker if they wanted one.

...ugh, only 36° out and getting on to what should be the warmest part of the day here for this time of year (sun sets in about two and a half hours). Was supposed to be in the mid 50s according to last night's forecast (and that includes the WC as well which is supposed to have the best scientists and equipment available - no wonder DirectTV wants to drop them).

Well, guess I have to bundle up and deal with it to go do the weekly food run (so much easier shopping on a weekday than the weekend, lots less people and much shorter lines). With the way the weather and other things have been going, hot cocoa is definitely on the list.

Morning. Much cooler for us today, and for once there are no fire emergencies nearby at all, the two big bush fires out of control in remote country to the East and West are terrible but it looks like at least for a week or so we can take a breather. Phew *breathes* Worst nightmares remain just night terrors for the moment at least.
Why? Is the water boiling? On fire? The sand turning into glass? The sharks beaching themselves? (head scratch)
Don't know for sure but the e-coli count is probably up in the waters around here, both rivers are out of bounds as well right now. Icky. :)
Actually, all of our snow has melted. We might get some more on Wednesday, it's not certain yet. It looks like it might just go out to sea. This is too far in advance to know, though, for New England.

Oh, I didn't mean melting, I meant the storm itself might not hit us, it might just blow out to sea. We are on the Atlantic coast here in southeastern New England. My city isn't right on the coast, but i can get there in several directions within an hour.

is your water supply holding up?
Thankfully dams are 2/3 full so water isn't an issue right now but fires have taken out power lines everywhere and unusually there have been brownouts the past week. In 2009 dams were empty and power stations were on fire along with coms towers and water pumps, not so dire this year so far altho the radio is saying last week was the hottest evah and infrastructure is literally melting :lol: Looks like we're going to be OK though, so far :)
I found breaking the set up with the group editor and saving bits as props significantly reduced overhead. Lots of semi transparent surfaces there :)
Oh and lots of miscellaneous props with reflect turned on as well, you can delete them from the scene if they are out of frame. I would set the scene up as you want it then use the group editor to prop-ify what is in shot, delete the set leaving the propified bits behind and throw a (white?) sky dome in, delete all the worklights, turn on GC to 2.2 and use IDL only. Feels a bit weird rendering a scene which looks black but that's only the preview, the render should illuminate fine :)

had a long exhausting day pushing my cart of laundry to the mat.
i put it all in the 6 dollar washer. place was empty so i divvied my stuff tween 4 dryers, folded it there, then pushed it all the way home.
home to an empty room. i wanna be with my bubby. i'm going through the motions but there's no point to it.

....just got back form the market trip. Colder than witches' snot out there with fog to boot.
Stopped at a pub to relax with a cheap happy hour pint of beer where I ran into a person I thought was a friend who just had to bring up the vote on the UC extension while I was trying to relax and forget about it.for a while. Totally sent me into a depressed angry funk I really didn't need.
Ruined my whole evening.
Back home and trying to unwind now.

Is right on the beach, the best place for most things like weddings and launches and announcements and working lunches and coffee and martinis al fresco on a warm night while the moon rises over the bay, think there have been a couple of births there as well, and deaths, and most things in between :(

That's really nice, the guy knew his stuff when it came to harmonics hey, my garden sounds like him sometimes :)
