Need an Iron Bark tree and a building that's similar to this ...

Working in Daz 4.11 / 3DL. The only Iron Bark tree (typically found in the Australian Bush) I can find is for Carrara, though. For the same scene, I also need a structure similar to the attached building.

  • the only other one I could find was for a game

I imagine it's in a format only for that game

There's a very similar structure over in the Commecial thread regarding a Southeast Asian village currently under development. But it isn't released yet, and I have a nasty feeling that it's going to be Iray only when it does escape.

No idea about the iron bark tree. You could ask someone who uses Cararra if it's possible to export as .obj and go around Robin Hood's barn that way. Or check the online converter if it will convert Cararra files. For that matter, Cararra isn't excrutiatingly expensive. If your system will run it, it might be worth it for access to all of those gorgeous environments by Howie Farkes.

Have you checked Xfrog? Having a scientific name wouldn't hurt either.

well I have Carrara and while exporting trees is certainly possible they are terribly highpoly as all mesh, Carrara uses a replication function to optimise them

buying Carrara in one of the many sales is a very good idea

that whole scene would render beautifully in Carrara

but probably best done well before any deadlines so you have time to learn to use it, not sure if it or the tree are at their best possible prices at the moment

There are some similar Eucalypts in UltraTrees that may suit.

Thanks, Bunyip02. Those are a bit basic for my needs, but I'll see if I can make it work.

And thanks for the lead to more trees, HowieFarkes, but the name of the book is Iron Bark Hill and is critical that it's that specific tree for the region (Australian bush)

I wonder if you could kit bash this into something similar.

the one Howie linked is probably indistinguishable in a scrub scene

I am unfortunately no arbourist or I would track one down and snap a photo with my ipad to mask if you wanted to edit in a foreground layer cheeky there is practically every sort of gum tree planted somewhere near me as well as the preexisting ones, my own yard has several higher than my house one a huge whopper but not ironbarks

reconsidering the scene, one or two of those would work since the title tree is somewhat far away ... one possible snag, though ... not 3DL ... but the addon on the same page does offer 3DL options. Do I need to get the add-on to be able to use it in 3DL?

Product page says it has both:

Included are 24 tree models, 8 tree bark materials and 11 foliage choices (each with 3Delight and Iray mats).

@WillowRaven the Ultra Tree products do include 3DL and Iray textures for each item. That is with both https://www.daz3d.com/ultratrees--realistic-tree-system and the add-on https://www.daz3d.com/ultratrees--arboretum-volume-1 which I bought (And they are excellent products, by the way).

I whipped up a rough house, you need to stick your own windows on it,

    maybe better textures too

I only used smaller Texture Haven diffuse maps baked as redistributable

Thanks ... Ya'll sold me on the trees ... bought them and will play with them today :) Thanks, everyone.

    And, WendyLuvsCatz, you're AWESOME!

I'm just so excited about this. My author-friend is in the middle of disastrous bush fires right now in Australia ... it's killing people and indigenous wildlife ... the koalas are in danger of being wiped out and the kangaroos, wild horses, and camels are suffering, too. So I really want to cheer her up and help her out and gift her the project by Christmas. Thanks so much for ya'lls help.

  • yes it's awful,

I am in Adelaide and is a still going large fire here  in the Hills that's killed 2 people and burnt 80 houses plus a lot of land and wildlife, one on Kangaroo island too interstate much worse

The author is in NSW, and though she thinks she's fairly safe in town, her brother lives out in the bush, where things have gone insane. She looks outside and sees armageddon.

I live in Sydney's outer west, and for a few days we were getting black 'snow' after a couple of days of glowing, Hell-red skys from a couple of nearby fires that so far have destroyed over two million acres between them. Where I live, just an hour by train from Sydney CBD, we have had almost two inches of rain over the last three years, so all the vegetation is tinder dry.

Alright ... I bought the UltraTree set ... and don't think I'm using it right. The directions mention a script, but nothing is in scripts??? I find it in environments, but nothing described as in the user's guide PDF.

When you open the top UltraTrees folder there should be two icons, one for UltraTrees Creator, which opens the script, and the User Guide.

In the dialogue pane, start by picking a tree, with the pane open at the default (The tabs above the tree shapes will be on "1: Select Tree'; once you have the base tree showing in the pane, pick the second tab "2: Select Bark" and go from there. After that select from "3: Select Foliage" and lastly you can now select the "Build Tree" button at the bottom of the pane.

i was perplexed the first time i tried to use ultratrees, too.  :)

but as dragonfly_2004 demonstrates, it's basically a super treebuilder kit.  the only icon you need to interact with is that ultratree creator script.

the results are gorgeous, though the trees are high-definition enough to be resource intensive.

if the tree's only going to be in the distance, and your scene has a lot of elements in it, you might want to tweak it a little to reduce the impact on your GPU.  i've had really good results using V3Digitimes' scene optimizer to keep those gorgeous ultratrees renderable in a heavy scene.

One more small request ... I've dissected my runtime, easily in the seven digits (each) of figures and props ... and of all of the stairs and steps I have are nothing like on this house. How hard would it be to create a quick set?
