3DS Max (.max) scenes in Daz

There seems to be a lot of products/resources online which come as .max 3d file format.

Is there a way to use these scene files in Daz?  And what about autodesk fbx versions?

what would that workflow look like?

  • well since for starters you need 3Dstudio Max to open a .max file I think once you look at their subscription only plans you will go from lilweep to bigwail cheeky

from there it only gets worse ....

true, I am definitely not interested in learning 3DS Max nor paying for it, so i guess that's out of the question then.

What about Autodesk FBX versions of Max scenes?  Do those import to Daz Studio?  I know daz can be weird with FBX.  I assume they can be opened in Blender?

there is yet another recent thread on FBX, its not pretty

obj is likely your only option and you probably have to chase up all the textures and load in surfaces as well

yeah, .MAX files will only open with 3DSMax and I have yet to get a fully functioning rigged FBX model to import into DS, lord knows I have tried so many. It's odd that they work great in carrara, but not DS.

true, but then you need to convert them to OBJ to use in DS.
