What's your method for previewing Iray lighting?

With Daz Studio, I like putting together big scenes, usually with 2-4 clothed G8s, and I really enjoy experimenting with lighting. But for the most part, I have to "cut" these scenes for render, meaning I render 1/2 the figures in scene, then the other 1/2, then I piece them together in PS. My computer can't handle it otherwise.

For adjusting lights, this is difficult as I currently rely on the Iray preview in the viewport. I usually split my scene into two files, one for each 1/2, then switch back and forth, lighting them how I like, and as consistently as possible.

So I'm wondering, is there a better way? My machine specs are pretty reasonable, and I don't plan on changing them anytime soon. I'm mostly curious if there are features or strategies with Daz Studio that I'm not taking advantage of. Thanks!

Sounds like the real problem isn't how to view the lighting, but rather fitting the scene into your system. Materials will take up the largest chunk of memory, so look for ways to reduce the texture load without noticeably compromising quality. There have been many discussions on that subject. Search for "optimization" or "reduce texture size" and you should find a few leads. If you can fit it all at once, you will be able to set your lighting for the whole scene. I suggested something similar a while ago here.
