Solid colors?
in The Commons
Is there a way to get parts of my character model in solid colors? For example, I want my character to have solid gray skin, and I want the hair to be solid black.

Yes, in surface tab, remove maps or use solid shaders.
Sure, will shortly.
Can you find the Surface Tab?
The base genesis 1 model loads solid grey by default into Daz Studio.
Genesis 8 also has dev load options, which load untextured.
okay so are you using Iray or 3Delight? Any way load your figure and select it in the scene tab ,then in the Surface tab click on the figure again in Iray find Base color click on it and a window pops up that has a list of all the maps being used ,at the top of the list it says Browse and None click on None , that just got rid of all the maps ,now click on the color bar ,of Base color and make it what ever color you want . In 3Delight you are pretty much doing the same thing only it's called Diffuse,go through the same steps, and there you go .When you need the regular skin texture back just reload it .
Hello friend, did a quick step by step for you.
Step 1 - In surface tab, you can choose any surface to modify. For example, I select face > base color
Step 2 - Use mouse to hover over drop down box, you will see mapped image.
Step 3 - Click on drop down box, click None. Map will be removed.
Step - 4 is solid results you desire.
You can do this with any surface, hope this helps.
You will find the surfaces tab under
Windows>Panes(Tabs)>Surfaces
Small question. My tabs are on the side, how do you get them to show on the top?
Took me a few minutes to find it,
Windows>Workspace>Orient Tabs Along Top
Thanks
