Color of custom Tattoo

I am trying my hand at making my own tattoo's and seem to have it figured out. The problem I'm having though is that while the PNG itself is black (this tattoo is script, letters) on the map it looks sort of faded when I render. Is there a way to deepen the color? I'm using the Layered Image Editor.
