Skin tones, Perfect Skin Colours
in The Commons
Apart from MATs, did anyone create a list or thoughts on colour settings in surfaces for POC ?
I am working on an iray render of a Puerto Rican woman, Sri Lankan woman and a Vietnamese woman.

Personally I reckon the appearance of a skin colour has much more to do with lighting than the actual skin surface settings. I'm sure we've all set up what we thought was a good skin for a character, only to see it completely change when we put it in a different lighting environment. The same thing happens in real-life. I suppose the lesson is you better set up your skin in the same light you intend to render it in.
Since skin is so translucent and reflective it does depend on lighting. In 3D rendering it seems it always comes out darker than in real life which pictures will do in most lighting situations as well for most skin types. Your eyes though in real life will adjust to the lighting and you'll see the skin as you know it is from past experience. So adjust according to photos or what you want them to perceive as if they were in the same room.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
