Tape Measur

Is there anywhere a elastic rigged  measuring tape prop, that can be used the measure someones height or the range of the waste.

Searching something like this

    I want to render how someone is measuring himself.

     

    Note - I assume you mean flexible, not elastic, as the latter wouldn't exactly be accurate. :)  .

    Unfortunately Rero doesn't have a "commercial renders allowed, no redistribution" license template ...

    but yes, it is centimeters:

    This figure is a measuring tape in centimeters used by tailors. The tape is
    1m50 long as usual.

    Sounds like the odds are that you'll probably end up having to kit bash something.  Of the top of my head, I see three fairly simple ways.  IN order of complexity -  -1.) take the folding wooden ruler in maclean's https://www.daz3d.com/everyday-tools , straighten it out to full length, then apply dforce on it to make it look like cloth.  2.)  take a poseable prop of approximately the right shape, like one of the dog leashes from https://www.daz3d.com/collars-and-leashes-for-daz-dogs-8 t, and add a ruller texture to it.  or 3.) use kaweki's strapmaker utility from Renderosity https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/strap-maker/108024 to make a prop and then create a ruler texture.

    oh nice... thank you for that info. I'll try that prop later and maybe I can replace the texture with an inch texture.

    If it has IK that may be a known bug in the general release with IK chains in some legacy figures - if so, it is fixed in the current Public Build (Beta).

    I haven't tried opening it, but the CR2 does contain a custom IK chain definition so that could well be it.

    I'll add a fourth approach:

    Take one of the smooth ropes from Tied Up! 2 For Genesis 2 (or similar product). Select all the bones of the rope, but not the rope itself, and set their z scale to 1%. Create and apply a tape measure texture. I do this whenever I want to create a posable strap and it works fine.
